the way jamie references his wife is really funny, like he cant mention her by name or title because if he did she would also be trapped in the Kitchen Realm by julia and forced to cook

Happy New Year, Jaime! I truly enjoyed watching you in 2023. My best friend of 37 years discovered you last Fall too. She passed away of cancer on 12/24/23 and your videos were one of her great joys when recovering from medical treatments. Thank you for bringing her joy! Looking forward to watching you in 2024!

The same thing happened to my wife of 38 years on 12/23/20. Unfortunately I discovered Jamie's videos 8 months after she died, but the way Jamie figures things out in the kitchen is exactly like her approach. (Except for sneaking up on the clams, which I maintain was the greatest kitchen innovation of 2023.)

IT MAY seem sad to some but I totally agree that these vlogs (by real people of course) somehow just fit the ticket when it comes to a pleasant distraction for anyone suffering illness or other difficulties. Jamie is such a natural entertainer with unique humour that I am sure that he gave your friend many moments of JOY. bless you and so very sorry for your loss.

It is probable that our lovely JAMIE does not come from my part of Canada but I think close to my original part based on his humour and lingo. He struggles with those French accents of Julia's cook book dishes but no matter; he HAS had GUSTO to undertake to cook so many of her specialties...TRES BIEN and BRAVO to Jamie et Bonne Année 2024 tout le monde!

@@cornishcoves9399 He briefly mentioned in one of his videos where yukon gold potatoes were mentioned (30 min steak dinner maybe?) that he's from where they originate! They apparently originated in Guelph, Ontario where he was born. Also, it's nice to see some fellow Canadian viewers!! I'm from NS myself 🙂👋🏻 Edit: just checked and it was his tourte limousine video around the 4:30min mark if you would like to check it out 😉

The death of Charlotte pan was the year's gutting setback. Also, no 2023 Yuletide gingerbread house was a disappointment. The previous years' houses of ginger-flavoured bread were alway highlights. 2024's wish is its return. Still, you're my favourite enthusiast cooking programme. Who else greets the fire brigade screaming by and the Hoover upstairs? Do yourself a favour and buy a countertop warming drawer or a bain-marie. For all the hard work you do, you deserve to eat a hot meal at then end. Happy New Year.

Not sure why, when French onion soup got number one, I cried. It’s so emblematic of the heart of French cooking and especially the French cooking Julia brought us. Watching you over the years on your cooking journey to becoming an AMAZING cook it just touched me that this journey, so far, brought you to French onion soup as your number one for the year. It says everything about your relationship with cooking and food. Thank you for a year of very hard work and amazing dishes! 😌✨

Would give anything to go to the French Laundry! Watching you take on TK ‘s recipes made me want to go even more! It has been a pleasure watching you. Your joy in completing recipes, and tasting the result is also a treat. I’m 83 and have eaten in some great restaurants here in USA, and overseas, recently ate butter poached lobster at a restaurant, which was raw in the middle. Chefs need to make sure they cook this properly. I have made this dish, which is pretty easy, but to see you do the difficult ones, and admit the difficulty is so refreshing! You are a delight to watch! Looking forward to the coming year from you. Good luck.

Discovered your channel 5 or 6 weeks ago, and have been hilariously impressed that you even attempt solo efforts at what a staff of chefs put together in michelin starred restaurants. You give bachelors trying to prepare a great date meal hope, and when it goes to hell they can both sit and watch your attempt for entertainment while they try to make a reservation at the French Laundry. And yes, the comments, this one not included, are pretty helpful.

What a real journey this past year has been on the channel. Thanks to Jaimie for keeping up and working his darndest to keep going and reaching towards new personal heights in skill and professionalism in cooking and video making. Sure there are little mishaps but that is part of the story. He is someone we can always root for, cause we can see the heart in what he does. I really am excited to see what new paths he goes on this year. He's got ideas, that is certain. This 2024 chapter will be a good one as Jaimie keeps building his skills and content. So great to see some of these dishes again too. The big wins might have been unimaginable a couple years ago. They are all possible now and Jaimie should be proud. Totally agree on the top dishes from the more simple French Onion to the Fractal of a Recipe that was Thomas Keller's Lobster Dish. May Jaimie keep challenging himself and succeeding. We'll be here every step of the way.

Hi Jamie, 20:14 you pronounced it correctly just right there. Just be careful with the ending, as if you pronounce the final s like in "buzz", indeed you say the word "f*ck". you need to end the final s like in "mess" or "Porgy and Bess". 21:00 this Pithiviers looked perfect. In France, we celebrate Epiphany with this cake and it is known more commonly as "Galette des rois" (cake of the kings, referrering to the 3 wise men), which is sold in every boulangerie at this period. Pithiviers is the real name of the cake, but very few people know it under this name. I am very curious of your number 2, as I have never heard of the cinnamon flan before. I need to watch that episode, that I missed. And these italian pasta looked all delicious ! Happy new year !

Have all his attempts to recreate Julia Child’s best recipes just succeeded in being delicious? Or have they created a rift in time and space through which Julia herself has traveled into his very own kitchen? Tune in next week to see full bodied apparitions, twirling bowls, wine glasses filling by themselves, and SO MUCH MORE! I have loved watching your videos this past year! As a person who has a tendency to give up when things dont go my way, seeing you push through your mistakes (and accept them when you cant figure out what to do) has helped me become a more patient with myself. I didnt realize how much it's affected my approach to things like cooking, sewing, crafting, etc. until I was trying to make falafel with my friend. My blender broke, the chickpeas weren't soft enough, etc etc. But I didn't want to give up! My friend actually told me she was in awe of me not giving up - which is a first for me! So thank you for being so open about your mistakes and adventures! Years to more delicious food this year ☺️

I wait for this ranking every year. I'd also love to see an improvement series, especially since you've been re-doing some of your old attempts. Just you critiquing your old techniques and showing how you've improved over them. That'd be excellent.

I just want to tell you that you inspired me to get back at it in the kitchen and it no longer feels like a chore. My husband also thanks you I believe he is much happier with home cooked meals opposed to take out 😂Happy New Year i really love your content.

The french onion soup is so delicious. I use beef bone broth which makes it even better and feels so nourishing I just crave it. To think it's only broth, onion, butter, day old bread and some leftover cheese. It costs almost nothing to make and it's so luxurious

I haven't been able to watch in a while, but this video helped me catch up to what you've been working on. It was wonderful to see how much you've refined your skills. Your comment about the carbonara had me wincing and smiling in equal measures just remembering the uproar in the comments. Happy New Year to you and yours, Jamie! 🥂🎉 But for the love of all that is palatable.....for our sake, (and yours; 'cause I want to gag watching you eat it) please...NO MORE ASPIC or tongues....of any kind!!!! ❤

A coworker brought in a bag of pearl onions that she didn't use over the holidays and asked if anyone could use them. Because I had recently watched the Beef bourguignon cage match episode I knew exactly what I would use them for. This weekend I made the best beef stew of my life. I dirtied every pan in the kitchen but my husband claims the result was well worth the disaster and the kids went back for thirds. 25 years ago I made a burnt mess from my Better Homes and Gardens cookbook and never thought I would try it again. Thanks for showing me it can be done.

Please dont stop making cook book recipes!!! The world wouldnt see such things if people like you didn't do such a great work recreating them! TK was honestly my personal favourite, maybe because he was the first chef who wasnt Julia. He is special now (but even I, a watcher, got tired once watching one of his recipe videos because there were just way too many steps for a video (nothing bad about TK but the steps (more like little things) just kept coming and coming and coming and in the end I was like, what the hell? And you clearly werent done even with all that. In the end I could tell I felt some of your pain lol and was just as incredulous about his instructions lmao. But good vid nonetheless, it made for a great experience (but maybe not for you lol). I would honestly like to know more how you felt about cooking that thing (one of his first 3 recipes, couldn't tell what it was now). Lol

Hi Jamie, I watch every video as soon as I can after they come out! At times you make me laugh and at others I want to cry! But you always teach me to never give up! I love that! I just watched where you placed the lobster above the onion soup and had to comment… To me this doesn’t seem fair because lobster would always win! And I absolutely love beyond belief onion soup! Lobster is decadent cooked just about any way, shape or form! Onion soup is the absolute best way to have onions and I put onions in/on just about everything savory! So for me when I look at the level of difficulty and time needed to make these 2 dishes onion soup wins 1st place. But that is coming from someone that would never bother with making the lobster dish because there are so many easier ways to have lobster that taste delicious! Haha! Thanks for all you give us! Happy 2024!!

I have been going down a youtube cooking channel rabbit whole recently but hands down you are my favourite by far! So many little things I love about your videos from the humour to the fact you admit to mistakes and keep on going, but my favourite just might be that the fact that you always say thank you the ceiling for your bowls, sieves and whatnots. Makes me smile every time and be proud to be Canadian! I look forward to watching more videos, thank you very much!
