My World Trade Center Coverage 20 Years Ago Part 1

Ойын-сауық

I got a call from a toy client on September 10th 2001 asking me to Video tape (VHS) record his segment on The Today show the next day.
The only problem was I didn't know how to set the timer on the new video recorder so I just started letting the tape run at the slow speed so I would at least get his segment.
That morning my sister called to tell me that a plane just hit the first Tower, and when I looked at my tape recorder it was still taping.I still haven't found the first tape, buts here's the second part of the coverage until I upload more.
Historically of course its an amazing record of the news coverage twenty years ago.#WorldTradeCenter #WTC2001 #WTCTVCOVERAGE #IraGallen #TVDAYS

It turns out...this world is still shit, age 22 now and wars everywhere, people are struggling, we are struggling, both working but couldnt make rent and got evicted, living in a motel...but...we keep the faith that the GOOD outnumber the bad in this world and we just hang on...people this day couldnt hang on, most didnt have a choice...this day will never not break my heart.. Long story short, I was in Kindergarten and I was doing the same thing after school, but when my Dad came home early from work, he sent me to my room after the first collapse. I was quite sheltered, I lived in Chicago at the time and my parents didn't talk about 9/11 with me and I never thought to ask questions about it or the war in Iraq. I was lucky to have a carefree early-childhood since I didn't lose anyone or live in New York. My 9/11 experience could've been a lot different. In my innocent mind, I assumed it was all just an airshow incident and everyone miraculously survived. As a 5 year old, I couldn't quite fathom the concept of death and how long it takes to escape a burning skyscraper and that some people were trapped, etc... I never learned the whole truth about 9/11 until the 6th Anniversary in 2007 when a 6th Grade teacher brought in the Naudet Brothers documentary on VHS. The adults & teachers in my life seldomly talked about 9/11 & war with the kids until that point when we were old enough. And since then, I became paranoid of another attack on the 10th Anniversary and I swore off flying on airplanes.

A 2015 study from a team of Yale researchers also found that people tend to respond with a variety of unexpected emotions in response to strong outside stimuli. The researchers discovered an association between the strong emotions you feel when you see a cute baby, like wanting to pinch its cheek and speak to it in weird voices, and the urge to laugh when you’re nervous or anxious.

10:27 the words of Dr. Kushner as we see those HORRIFIC burns is chilling. That poor woman being stripped naked in the city streets as the other woman peels the melted clothing and flesh off of her. Her upper back is missing a massive chunk of flesh as it burned to the muscle and bone (4th degree). The first woman we see burned before that has 4th degree burns also as her skin has been charred black (notice her left wrist) and has melted off in some areas. Absolutely horrific. I hope those women survived and are at peace today. I want to know their stories.

I remembered it very clearly. I'm from Brooklyn and was seven when this happened. It all started with my mom driving my brother and I to school that started at 8:30 AM About a half-hour later, on the PA system, the principal made an announcement asking a student to get his stuff to go home. Next thing you know, evey three minutes she's saying this student, that student, that student one by one. Two things were going in my head. First, what was going on and two, when's my turn? Then I remember between 9:30 and 9:45 my mom came and picked us up. In the car, we kept asking her, what's going on? She was scared, and just wanted to bring us home. Finally, we see on the TV, the WTC site, but just smoke. Then I saw the footage of the planes crashing. Then, there's a problem. My dad worked in Manhattan and work the evenings. My mother was very scared, and told him don't go to work, it's not safe. He went anyway. But Thank God he was safe the whole time.

I was at work on a 10th floor of a federal building... on an airport flight line... in my hometown when this happened. My bosses wanted to wait until 'authority' came from Division headquarters 300 miles away to 'allow' us to leave. I tossed my leave slip on my manager's desk and told him I was leaving with or without permission and left. Common Sense said leave and I did. If more people in the towers had used their own common sense and left without waiting for 'permission' to go, they would be alive. I know that's harsh but it is the truth. You’re another hindsight honcho talking trash from your “hometown”. Where was this? Someplace in Arizona? Montana? Somewhere nowhere near NYC? When 911 tells you to stay put so the firefighters can get to the people who need help faster, you wanna do your part to help, especially when they’d been told for decades that those buildings were “designed to take a hit from a commercial airliner.” And as for the people who were literally trapped by having blown out staircases or exits blocked by tons of metal, welp, they weren’t waiting on “permission” to jump out of the fkn building. I know this is harsh, but stay in your damn lane.

My boss was at home, not watching tv; and his housemate, who'd been at the pub down the road, burst in and yelled "Fuck, turn on the tv! World Trade Centre - gone! Pentagon - gone! I still can’t believe Edna Cintron stood in that hole where the plane went in and stood there waving. There’s also a man trapped between steel to her left & he is waving. Edna keeps waving right until the collapse. So sad. She must of been so terrified. After the second tower collapses you can see the internal support beam that was meant to ensure they didn’t collapse, just swaying right to left. Not a lot of footage of that. In al my years of looking at 9/11 videos I’ve only ever seen one video of that beam & it was only like a 3 second video before the beam collapsed & I remember the guy saying it was the only footage he could find, shame he didn’t find this video as your footage of it is only the second but 100% the longest footage I’ve seen of that internal beam.

I know one thing, if ever I'm in a situation where I fear for my life, there's absolutely no way I'm going back to my office. I remember the very first reports from when the first plane hit, they said it’s too early and there shouldn’t be anyone in those buildings. Like really!! In NYC , there were meetings set up at 6am in those towers. I mean I wish they were right and I’m sure that’s what they were hoping. That news report gave me so much hope that those buildings were empty when I heard about the amount of casualties afterwards I couldn’t freaking believe it! 😢😢😢

It might be included in here, ill have to double check. I saw a clip earlier today, a camera man was with a bunch of firefighters in i think it was a lobby area between the buildings? Somewhere with a roof. And the camera zooms in on one particular firefighter looking around in horror as... stuff.. landed on the roof with loud bangs. He was still wearing his priest collar. I did a little research. That is some of the last known footage of Mychal Fallon Judge born May 11, 1933. American Franciscan friar and Catholic priest who served as a chaplain to the New York City Fire Department. On September 11, 2001 he became the first certified fatality of the terrorist attacks. He was in the Lobby of the North tower at the temporary command post set up by the FDNY, when the south tower collapsed it sent debris into the lobby of the north tower. He was killed in this moment and shortly after the collapse of the south tower his body was recovered and removed from the scene before the north tower collapsed. He spent the entire time he was on scene praying for living injured and dead alike no matter who they were or where they came from, offering whatever assistance he could to the firefighters. He was then canonized in the Roman-Catholicchirch and made Saint Mychal the Martyr. He was a Friar with the Franciscan friars. In 1986 when many bishops banned Dignity (a Catholic LGBT activist organization that advocates for change in the Catholic Church's teaching on homosexuality) from diocesan churches under their control he welcomed Dignity's AIDS ministry to his church which, controlled by the friars, was not subject to the bishops wills. Judge often asked "Is there so much love in the world that we can afford to discriminate against any kind of love" Judge developed a relationship with a nurse named Al Alvarado in the last year of his life, although his work in the fire department meant they did not spend much time together. Members of the catholic church deny and continue to deny Judge's homosexuality but the commissioner, several friends and family, and his own diaries state otherwise.
