@celtictransport PD only exists because Brunel moved his Dock affairs from Milford Haven to what then became Pembroke Dock (specifically the Paterchurch region). What remains of the dockyard appears in the video. There is only 1 museum which opened in recent months(not counting the Martello Tower exhibitIion which Ron Watts seeks volunteers for). The Llanreath oil tanks fire has now been surpassed by Buncefield as the largest fire in UK history and the final tanks were removed in the 80s'.

Thank you for a trip down memory lane. I first went to Pembroke Dock in 1946 (aged 7) with my mother and brother to visit family, Me and my bruth went to Front Street to catch crabs and could not understand why all the houses had fallen down. I was too young to realize they had been demolished during the war by bombs. We used to climb Barrack Hill and watch the Sunderland flying boats which were based there taking off and landing on the river. At the back of the hill there were giant oil storage tanks that had also been bombed and were rusting away. Huge areas of grassland were blackened by the fires. Over the years we returned many times. My most memorable year was when I was 20 years old and spent the holiday there with a local girl. (Melva Jones, hope I don't get into trouble mentioning her name). It was the only holiday in Wales when the sun shone every day. We visited a different beach every day. My aunt and uncle, Bill and Lill Blunt lived at the top of Diamond Street. Bill was a trainer with the PD football team, they also ran the British Legion for some years. It has been 25 years since I last visited and probably would not recognize the place now. Did someone say nothing to do ?. there was when I was there. This just scratches the surface.

When I 1st read your comment I thought "this guy is talking nonsense" but it turns out you are correct!! Paterchurch means "St Patrick's church" and, going further back in history, in Welsh "Llanbadrig" is "The church of St Patrick". The domesdaymaps website agrees with you. I tend to think of P D before the dockyard as "just fields". Now there is a Llanbadrig village on Angelsey. Thanks for educating me; you don't know Phil Carridice do you?!

@RihannaJessieJFan Now aged 28 I'm in Cardiff looking for work. How about you? I visit my family in the Dock once a month, indeed I made this video on one of those trips.

@pedrofinia Pardon? Anyway, it was never the intention for this video to discuss the history of Pembroke Dock. At least I'm not an English migrant who comes in and steals what work there is from Uni graduates like me.

@celtictransport Good point; I should have included Jacobs' pill (haven't been down there since St Marys school trip). It was my understanding that they proclaim Buncefield as the largest fire in western Europe but I conceed that, as you appear to be a fireman you may know more on that than me. Having been away from Pembrokeshire for so long I got a book which, to my surprise, said that shipbuilding moved from Milford to land which is now PD (I'll check if it were Brunel or someone else)

@celtictransport The video features the waterway, the bridge, the town centre...what else is there to show of Pembroke Dock? I am not a lunatic - I am one of the few people lucky enough to get as far away from Pembroke Dock as possible thanks to my Astrophysics studies at University; I do receive help for Asperger's syndrome in Cardiff, and apparently Sure Haven do have the resources to assist me but they are private rather than NHS based like my Cardiff helper.

.......there's big controversy with the Council wanting to paint it a non-David Thorley related colour and give it a new name. I bet you'll want to sign the petition. More info for you on the Western Telegraph website.

@celtictransport You clearly don't like Pembroke Dock or videos aimed at tourists then!!
