My most favorite bonsai ever is a wisteria. Sam's specimen as he posted it about 3 years ago, and I have looked for such a stump ever since. (A close second is your larch forest). Yours is a long way from both the fluting and the flowers; but one of the reasons I love your trees and philosophy is that you grow for the next 50+ years, not necessarily what you will see in the next 5-10. As Jelle would say; "keep growing bonsai"!!

That wisteria trunk is indeed inspiring - what a site!! Wisteria like deeper pots to cool their roots and retain moisture. You may not want to repot in a shallow pot - tends to be detrimental during the summer heat. I'm totally infatuated with your Brazilian Rain Tree - the movement and structure is just beautiful - always look forward to its vids!

I got my Blue Moon Wisteria... Well... For the flowers. I didn't realize they could achieve such a nice trunk! That Rain tree looks fantastic!! Great show Nigel!

A lot of trees can handle this hard root world. In my experience, bald cypress can handle all their roots being removed completely.

Wisteria are awesome when they're in bloom. They can be really destructive if allowed to grow near buildings. They have a habit of sending out long root runners to spread the growth.

Oh boy is this cool! Can’t wait to see the flowers! I do fear that even I, being 23, might not live long enough to see it have a really thick trunk in a bonsai pot. The best bet is to put it in a huge pot with your patented bonsai soil to really let it grow quickly!

Tempting! Downside to quick growth can be coarse growth. (Hope my two cents have been well spent!)

I brought home seeds one time and the next day on my counter they started to explode. Very cool if you have never seen they twist when they dry

Your Raintree has such a beautiful trunk. Mine is old, but the trunk is thinnest at soil level. Maybe your bark will start shedding next summer. Then you’ll love it even more.

I've got 4 BRTs. I don't find that they die back more than any other tree.

Does the rain tree bud back?

tir na nÓg is Gaeilge or Irish meaning the land of youth which it does refer to. There is a story behind it in Irish mythology. I had to double check when I saw it on the video 😅

Hi! I live in Germany, any tips how to get a brasilian rain tree. Can I grow it from seed? And if so are customs are problem?

Why do you cut back branches when the trunk is not finished yet? Or it is finished for you but in my opinion looks skinny/like young tree.

That middle branch might need removing I think. It’s also parallel with another branch.

Nigel im from Brasil, i have alot of those Rain trees (Pitecolobium tortum) why dont you put on a big pot ? It Will get thick in one year... Like 3x the thickness It hás now .. than you cut It back ane put in a small pot egain

@@TheBonsaiZone i understand.. diferent aproches than...i keep small but first i let It grow .. some times 2 meters in high, than cut back in 15 centimetres, than Work de cannope.. i think its faster.. try sometime in a rain tree, they real really fast from big cuts
