Those look slammin’ for sure I think some carmelized onions on it before they go in the oven would take these to another level
I learned how to make a variation of those sandwiches way back in high school foods class (probably about 1973). Instead of ham, we used leftover turkey. Make the sandwiches, then set them close together with no space in-between in a baking pan. Make the same egg and milk mixture, but pour it over all the sandwiches rather than dipping them in the mixture. Bake until golden brown. The sandwiches puff up and can be eaten hot or cold. Great use for leftover turkey.
We pan fry ours in butter, dust with powdered sugar and then dip in rasberry jam. We call them Monte Cristo sandwiches here in California. Yours look SO yummy too!!!
Delicious! I did a slightly different recipe, i love ham and mustard cheese grills, so i added a teaspoon or two of English mustard into the egg mix, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce on the grated cheese, topped off with crack black pepper. Absolutely scrummy!
