My Wheatgrass Fodder System for Rabbit and Chicken Colony

Комедия

This is my fodder growing system that I use to grow living food for my rabbits and chickens. I've used this same system for two years now. Yesterday was my setup day for the season. In about a week, the racks will be chock full of wheatgrass fodder in various stages of growth. I'll do a follow-up video of this system once it's full.
I made this video for my friends in the "Rabbits in Colonies" group on Facebook. If you have questions on how to raise rabbits in a more natural environment, that's the group to join: / 371075886338611

Hi there! I'd like to set up a system like this for our chicks (once they get bigger - getting them today). Can you tell me did you line your trays with paper towel or just put the sprouted wheat grass right on top of the trays?

I just grow right on the trays.

how does your 5gal changed to 2 gal a day ,the same amount either to waste or recycled should stay the same? i would say if you recycled every day and changed out every other day you would basically conserve the water more

I got them from Amazon here: goo.gl/1y4vDn. They're not cheap, but they're awesome! ~$133 for 12 trays.

As I recall, I bought two 12X24X48 racks and used the shelving from both sets on one rack. That was a long time ago, though... so I'm not certain.

What type/size sprayer did you use

There wasn't a sprayer. It just dripped out from T's in the tubing.

I tried, but the water tends to flow along the bottom of the tray while the upper seeds remained dry. Please show how thick is the water water stream that flows in the trays?

Hay Azam. We moved away from that house about four years ago to a town that doesn’t allow backyard chickens. So, I can’t show you the water stream. But you want the entire tray to flood and then drain. So the flow is pretty high, and the holes in the bottom of the tray are very small.

Hello you can use mini sprinklers so that every seed will get wet and then water will drain away.

@@Azam_Pakistan If you’re getting mold, you don’t have enough drainage.
