My week off.. in the workshop. Leyland 285 tractor puller rebuild.
I had a week off normal work to get my leyland 285 tractor puller rebuilt ready for taking it to Emley moor M.A.S.T rally.
The engine was to put back in after some more modifications, a billet compressor wheel was to fit to the turbo. All the panel work to refit and the triple plate centrifugal clutch to put back in. I also had to retime the big injection pump via spill timing it.

I'm glad you are taking time off for your own time. Having a project that's been waiting sure makes time go by. I'm about to finally going to quit working at my day job. In a few more weeks. I will turn 70, thats when I've decided to pull the trigger.
You should drill a hole even if your nailing it. To keep from spitting the wood.
Well I have installed a lot of two disc clutches,but never seen a three disc. Looks like you have it figured out good luck 👍🍀
Glad to see you having some 'me' time. Back in the day, a chap on a neighbouring farm to where I worked had a 272 and a 2100 in his fleet, but never saw many of the 285s' in the area. Scary for me to think that what was once someone's prime workhorse is now so old that peeps just use them as the basis for some (much needed) fun at the local fair.

ha yep engines . i rebuilt my back hoe engine but missed 3 grub screws in the end of oilways . the guy that rebored it didnt tell me he took them out . plus i have a mk2 escort in the shed with electronic ignition but i cant check it on my own
That was interesting and I found out more about tractor pulling than I knew before (which was next to nothing).
I'd like to see a 4x4 golfcart build, too! I keep seeing that on the shelf...
