Thank you. They just kept sending information about things I might not have known about the school (which I really didn't know). Things like different resources available to graduate students, resources available to international students, career opportunities etc. They even had a virtual open house which included a campus tour and social hour for admitted students. It was really nice and I felt like they cared. Funny how I know those were just automated emails but it was obvious that they were trying their best to sell themselves to me as "the place to be".

Hi! No problem. I basically said that the school I went with was the only school that seemed to care whether or not I attended. When this response got the consular’s attention, I went further to explain that they tried to sell themselves to me and basically show why they’re a good choice for me. They kept sending emails with information about resources available to me as a student, etc. On the other hand, the other schools just sent my acceptance letter and I never heard from them again.

Hi! Love your videos, very informative. Quick question- Since you live off-campus was your apartment already secured prior to the interview? Does it tend to hold weight in their decision making? I’m hesitant to prematurely pay for housing prior to obtaining the visa, however… I don’t want to jeopardize my chances (if it does carry weight). What are your thoughts on this?
@AmaraOsuji
Жыл бұрын
Hi. No my apartment wasn’t secured before the interview. I don’t think this is a big factor in the outcome of the interview. If they ask questions in that line, they just want a general response of whether or not you’ll be on campus or off campus. Nobody expects you to already have paid for a place before getting your visa approved.
Wait how long does it take to get your passport back, I heard that you go to the embassy before 3months to your school date

If you prepare adequately for your visa interview and make sure you fill your application form correctly, it won’t be hard. People run into troubles when they start lying and/or trying to cut corners. Do it yourself so you’re sure what information is filled in because that will remain in your records forever. For the second question, as a student you’re only permitted to work 20 hours a week during the semester and it has to be on campus so I guess that can be quite limiting.

If you're resident in the country you'll be interviewing in then I don't think it's a big deal. @@AmaraOsuji your video boosted my moral. Thank you.
I literally can relate 100% to this video. I had my f1 interview a week ago while visiting London from North Cyprus(i'm nigerian)and i was asked similar questions for my masters program in business analytics; how many schools did you apply to? How many times have you been to the US? Why did you choose a master's in business analytics at this university? I explained that i was attracted to it because it is a flex program and that got her interested in what i had to say, i saw her (the visa officer's) face intrigued so i kept going. When i was done she asked "okay so who will sponsor you for this program?" Then and there i knew i got it😂
