I've been nailing down this new routine consistently for about 2 years now (beginning of 2021). So once I had that figured out I wanted to share it with you all. I made sure to include how often I use these products as well. If you're curious about other products I use, here is the list of my favorite products broken down by category

I thought the Olaplex no. 3 was supposed to be used before washing hair?
@folahontas
Жыл бұрын
Yea! A lot of times my hair is really dirty and its coated in all types of product, so ill use a clarifying shampoo first. You can opt to place the #3 here in between steps and then follow up with a moisturizing shampoo. I always double cleanse anyway. Hope that helped and sorry if it was confusing via video

No it’s after you wash the hair i use it that way to remove all the buildup and then I shampoo again after leaving it from 10 to 1h 30min or sometimes I leave it overnight I definitely noticed a difference when I left it for a longer then only 10min
@shashagirl

@@celia7288 makes sense because I used to wonder if it would be so effective for natural hair girlies like us that happen to apply lots of products normally to just use the Olaplex no 3 without first doing some bit of washing on our strands. I will definitely try this after washing, apply then wash again. Not sure how safe for me is the leaving for longer though with all these law suits flying about 🤭. Thanks!

I don’t blame the natural KZreadrs of yester-year. They were trying to navigate a world where it was relaxer or struggle. I think nowadays there is so much more information and more actual science being incorporated into how we take care of our hair and it’s beautiful to see the growth.

@@folahontas after the first few months of going natural I learned to not follow "trends" and just keep it simple and do what my hair and scalp likes. I do my hair just like this about twice a week, minus the blow drying. 👍🏾 Your hair is gorgeous! ❤️

I agree, I can't stand when people say to wash your scalp only, um no you should be washing your entire head of hair, period!!
I thought I was the only one that essentially gives my hair a water wash for about 10 minutes before I do anything else. My hair and scalps loves it.

Same! It was a game changer for detangling
I totally agree with you re: breakage. There was a time in my life where I would have broken hair in the sink, on the floor, and on my shirt every time I did my hair. I thought this was normal. I have learned how to properly care for my hair, and like you, I no longer have broken hairs after styling my hair.😊

Yup I used to only shampoo my scalp and gently smooth it over my hair strands 🥴🥴🥴 I'm so glad I saw someone's TikTok 6 months ago about them washing their hair frequently and then I found curl specialists! They saved my hair fr. I just had a 45 min wash day today & 25 minute styling before the end of the day!!! 5+ hour wash day me 6-10 years ago wouldn't have thought it was possible I now love washing my coily hair 🥺 Your hair is beautiful!
Girl thank you so much for this. You really contributing to the evolution of natural hair journeys. I use to swear by “pre pooing” and though I do it faithfully, I always wanted something that didn’t take that much effort. Fire video👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Some naturals overcomplicate wash day and natural hair in general...I only use deep conditioners when I need lots of moisture/protein (or even both).
Whew! You have been released from the naturalista hold. I love to see it! No deep conditioning for days, only washing the scalp, and reading product directions.
This summarises what I have been telling everyone for years. My wash day is 20 minutes and has been for years. Shampoo thoroughly , condition and deep condition for 5-10 minutes only as and when needed. Sometimes my hair feels so soft I only need a leave in spray and its exactly the same texture and density as yours

same here, i only use leave in spray
I don’t leave conditioner for an hour either! My hair grew from ear to mid back length just using deep conditioner for the duration of my shower, not even steaming it under a shower cap either
Definitely have been softly detangling and using the recommended time for deep conditioning and it’s been so time saving. Love this!
It's the saturate your hair in water for 5 to 7 min part, since your last video its fasho a game changer❤❤
Yass you betta cut open those products 😂 We getting EVERY pennies worth 💯
Instant new follower. Your hair is gorgeous. Your video is clear and actually helpful. I Stan!
This video is truly top tier👏🏾 Saved to my hair education playlist.
I'm transitioning to natural and saving this video! I like how simple this routine is and I take similar steps with my relaxed hair now which is pretty healthy. Definitely not trying to change the foundational steps too much, and I think this video showed me I won't need to. It's encouraging!
Your hair is so beautiful! Thank you so much for this!
Would love to see more of these videos. This is very interesting to me!
Great video! I follow a similar routine, yet slightly different regimen. I still pre-condition with olive oil overnight (or 1hr b4 wash if I'm short on time). What a difference, my hair is now ultra-conditioned, and I detangle before I get into the shower. I have fine, dense hair and it's just better for me. Also, Olaplex #1 is designed to go before #3. Its more than a conditioner, it's a bonding treatment. I deep condition after every wash day because it sets/preps my hair to be in best condition. Simplicity I find always wins because I have growth and length retention, so I know I'm doing something right. Ladies stay away from hacks and trends because you will go bald! But lastly, 15yrs natural and not looking back. I'm glad I didn't give up because now I have mastered my natural hair just by trial and error. I'm so very happy that my hair washing has went from 1 whole day to just 2hrs! who would have ever thought??
YOU ARE GOLDICURLS. Just loooove your hair
😳😱😍😍😍😍 WOOOOOW! Your hair is GORGEOUS!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Really simple routine, I’ve been doing the same lately. It really saves time and makes washing my hair less stressful.
Excellent video, love seeing more naturals giving up raw oils and shampooing to match the build up level on the hair. It has made me fall back in love with my natural hair, now that i’m not dealing with brittle dehydrated hair from build up. I cannot find that felicia leatherwood brush anywhere, it’s been sold out forever. Considering a tangle teazer with handle, but looks harder to clean out the hair.
Not the soul glow beauty shot 😆loved this, I needed some ideas for my wash day because my hair has changed during and after my pregnancy.
Gorgeous hair sis! The editing is top tier!

Love all your videos great info thanks 😍
Just did and it took one hour! Scalp scrub, washed, conditioned and detangled in one hour. I added 15 min to today’s wash because I wanted the d.c. to penetrate with heat (&i have the extra time 😂) but if it was a weekly wash for me, it would only take an hour. And as you can see we have about the same length, my hair is just a little bit finer. Love you Fola for this babee!!!! Saved my life as a Mom to a very busy autistic little boy 😊
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍your hair is so gorgeous!
Washing only your scalp is useful if you have a condition like eczema since the special shampoo is too harsh and damages your ends. We in the community do a conditioner coat on our ends to help while shampooing too.
Beautiful hair and great technique!

Girl it takes me an hour to wash my hair too! My secret that I’m willing to share is I cleanse my scalp the day before with sulfur 8 shampoo I exfoliate it in and leave it on overnight, the next morning I rinse it out and then I focus on only my strands. My hair is already divided in 4 sections so I wash each section of hair and deep condition for 15 minutes. 😂 I’m really a lazy natural.

Lol watching this made me thankful that I didn’t listen to the natural hair community. Not because I know better but I was way too lazy 😅 luckily my hair is still thriving, retaining length and all. Hey Love how did you get your hair to look so natural and do you have an natural hair care journey.
No yea, I used to detangle my twa and it would take me almost an hour just to prdetangle but I started keeping up a routine and now I seperate my hair into 3 sections and I wash the back and the 2 sides the same way I style my wash n go now and it take me 25 minutes to now shampoo, detangle and condition and detangle. I use a paddle wet brush for detangling
Here I was thinking I was the only person who cuts the bottle to get the remaining product. And I have locs and I also wash my hair from root to tip, I moisturize the length of my hair with oil so it only makes sense to wash the length of the hair too
your hair is beautiful!! what do you think of Ogx? And could you review it? Thanks!
I used beeswax for my box braids and it took me more than one wash day to shampoo off my stands

Hey sis! I actually don’t do anything. Staying on top of a routine keeps my hair hydrated in between washes. I will say i get better moisture retention sleep with a satin scarf/bonnet/pillowcase. & i let the steam from the shower kinda “refresh” my wash n go if it’s shrunken or something. But in general i dont have the need to re wet or re apply product at any point in between washes

Only shampooing your roots is not something only the natural hair community perpetuated. That’s something that is recommended by a lot of haircare professionals. There is even a popular dermatologist here on KZread that recommended this. Not saying debating on if it works on not I just wanted to correct when people tend to falsely accuse the natural hair community of things.
OK sooooooo first thing I have to do is wash all of my hair. Not just the roots. Also I don't usually take very long but I think less is more so ill just shampoo and condition unless my hair is in bad shape. Usually I condition first cuz it's easier to detangle then I shampoo then I deep condition but I use the 5 minutes and rinse ones.
