MY UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE | FAILING MY A-LEVELS , DROPPING OUT & BEING REJECTED

I was very nervous to post this video because my University Story is one that I hold very dear to my heart & only a few people know about it. But with so many people starting University I figured the best time to post this would be now, to be the encouragement that someone may need. Especially when things just look glum and you feel discouraged. Trust me when I say .... been there ... done that !
This is a LONGGGGGG one, probably one of my longest uploads but I wanted to include EVERYTHING so you can understand everything from GCSE'S to A-Levels to my University Experience & what I'm doing now. So if you don't get comfortable with your snacks & Hot Ribena ... then you are only playing yourself lol.
I really hope you are inspired through my personal story.
Love you loads and I shall speak to you in my next one !

11 GCSEs including 6 A* grades; then a U in A level Chemistry; that's what I don't get about the GCSE system. William Hague, the ex- leader of the UK Conservative Party passed 11 O levels in his day ( late 1970s ), then after A levels on to Oxford, no messing about.

Girllll I feel your struggle. I dropped out of college and still managed to get the job I’ve always wanted with one of the top PR firms in Atlanta. Now I actually ENJOY working everyday and surprisingly look forward to Monday’s. Your video gave me some inspiration to do a video about my own journey. New subbie xoxo

I am so happy you shared this video, it made me cry. I have a similar experience in failing my first year of A levels, restarting and then dropping out. I started fresh on a different course and I love the course I am doing (even better than my old course), I dont care that I am 2 years behind my friends and starting uni at 20, it is not something to be ashamed of as everyone has a different path that God has planned for us.

I don't usually comment on youtube videos but your story spoke to me. I live in Canada and when I was in high school it seemed like I was hitting brick wall after brick wall with my coursework. While everyone around me was propelling forward into their futures I was stuck and barely making it through and my grades reflected that. I struggled through my final year and got rejected from all the universities I applied to with the exception of the one school I did not want to go to, because it meant I would have to continue living at home. Going to my first year of university I was miserable I hated the school and I hated the experience but some how I was able to consistently do well in the assessments and so at the end of my first year I was depressed but I had a competitive grade point average and had first choice of the life science specializations. On a whim I decided to enroll in a Molecular Genetics Specialist and I love it. I found my people, and I am passionate about what I do and honestly by the end of last year I realized that my struggling in high school and the rejections I faced during the application process led me where I was meant to be. I was led down the path I had been determined to avoid but it has literally been the best thing that could have happened to me. Honestly as your Cameroonian sis I say we were led down a path lined with failure to make us strong and push towards a future meant for us.

Sophie N omg same here! But instead I am in Australia. I was an average student in high school, despite making it into my desired courses and University, I feel so scared and dumb because I constantly compare myself to my high school friends. When I do this, it makes me thinks of how much smarter most of my friends were and how they are going to do well in University, compared to me because I was an average student. The thought of university makes me scared because I know that it’s going to be harder than high school, which I did pretty alright in. Your story, however inspires me and gives me hope!

Thank you for this Sarah. I’ve been out of edu for a good 2 years. Whilst all my friends are in their third year I was just working and collecting experience. When I failed my A-levels (DCC) I literally broke down crying. At one point I was so confused about the path God wanted me to take. But I realise that everything happens for a reason and when it’s your season God blesses you like never before. I’m now in my first year and I’m in love with my subject and finding great friends, even looking to start a blog and KZread and I realise now I had to go through that hardship to come out in the other side. Watching your video literally brought tears to my eyes because it’s something so relatable. Thank you so much x

Trying to have faith and believe god put me in this position for a reason 🙏🏼

BornToLoveVintage well hun, because I always knew what I wanted to do I spent two years out collecting experience in that field (psychology, so volunteering and care assistant) I then applied for numerous uni’s during those two years. I applied for uni’s with foundation years, uni’s who are a little lower on the league table. The experience you get will help make your application stronger. I also did a counselling course so that excelled my application and got in touch with tutors. Honestly, I just looked it up and applied hoping for the best. But do foundation years. Birkbeck, Middlesex, are just a few with foundation years. I wanted to redo my A-levels or do an access course but God blessed me in a different way

I didn't do amazing at AS but I tried sooo hard and I've been working even harder this year since we started but I'm so anxious. All I can do is leave it in God's hands and keep my head in my books. I need 3 B's for my first choice which seemed reachable until I got my AS results. Praying I get what I need

Love university stories like this. I am in a similar position as you now, feeling like you haven't been shined on. It felt like time was slipping away from me and I was constantly jumping through hoops- having no A-levels has really made it hard, but I am at university now! I think the key is finding acceptance and being kind to yourself. There is so much pressure to go to a top ten university, but I believe that doesn't define your success.

Watching this and being in a similar situation than you were after you got your A level results has literally given me soooo much hope. What you said about being proactive in your next steps to get to wherever it may be especially after failing really hit me. I couldn't agree more. You just gave me motivation to retake my A levels independently, my sixth form won't allow me to retake year 13 there, and prove to myself that i can get those damn A's and get into the university i want, God willing.
