My unhealthy relationship with my stutter

Hey guys, it’s Emily! In this video I talk about my stutter and social anxiety. I’m trying to get to a mindset and perspective where I - shall we say - “strut my stutter.” This is a phrase that literally just now came to me. One day I hope to be able to say that I stutter and I’m still proud of who I am. I’ll get there. And I hope you can find yourself in a place where you are proud of who you are, flaws and imperfections and all. Anyway, enough rambling. Much love, Emily

I wish I could help and I would if I could. I’m not trained and I don’t really have any ideas of how to help. I’m sorry. I understand what you’re going through. I was the same way for a long time and so I hardly ever talked. My stutter has significantly improved with age, though it’s still there and it sometimes flares up. I never got treatment or help for it. I just started talking more. I would stutter a lot, but I was determined to talk more and be heard. That worked for me. I think you should talk to someone like a specialist, like someone who works in speech. Even if you feel you can’t physically talk, you could make an appointment online and explain to them your trouble with being fluent in speech. Not being able to communicate the way you want is so hard and frustrating. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Know you’re not alone. I personally have never met a fellow stutterer in real life, just stuttering people online. But we are not alone. ❤️
