    Easy card is the card everyone use to get around in taiwan, either bus or mrt, and non-reserved seat trains.

    I was just there with my daughter-in-law and grandchildren. It is all very familiar, very clean. We took the MRT everywhere. We stayed in an Airbnb down an alley and up three flights. Very authentic trip. Loved the dumplings. The zoo is very spacious, I think we only saw about 1/3 of it. Taipei 101 is beautiful. Do not miss out on eating at Din Tai Fung restaurant in the building.

    Sounds like an amazing authentic Taipei experience with your family! I agree, the MRT is so convenient and super clean and staying in an Airbnb off the beaten path adds a unique touch. Glad you enjoyed the dumplings. Taipei 101 is indeed a must-see and it will be in my next video! Thanks for sharing your experience!

    It's a long walk so when I went there I used the moving ramp. Whenrver I go to a new country, it helps a lot to check airport website to see layout, airlines' teminal numbers, local transportation counters & how to go about transfers to ciity. Lessens concerns and tiredness for me. On exits at train stations, there are maps showing exits location nearest to hotel and mentioned by hotel what's the nearest Metro exit to it.

    I have been to Taipei many times. Some of my family lives there. The card they gave you at the airport is just information on the items that are prohibited at customs/immigration.

  • @WandererBell

    Thanks for pointing that out! Indeed, the card was a helpful reminder of the prohibited items. They have a smooth arrival process for visitors. It is such a wonderful and super clean city. Very polite and helpful people too.

    There are different types of passes, but from my understanding, there is only one pass that covers both Taipei Metro and the Airport Metro, and that pass is called the 'TAOYUAN AIRPORT MRT / TAIPEI METRO JOINT TICKET.

    20:00 There is no such thing as "Taipei Airport Metro". The daily pass or three day pass are city-wide. There are two airports in northern Taiwan. You have landed in Taoyuan Airport which is located in Taoyuan. Another airport is inside Taipei but they only serving flights from Asia. Taipei and Tokyo are old cities. When they need modern airports, they no longer can find land to build airports upon. So they need to build new airports in neighboring cities. That is why you have difficulty to buy daily pass in cities outside Taipei. Specifically, there are six metropolitan cities in Taiwan. Taoyuan is one of them. Inside this airport, you can only buy the daily pass for Taoyuan Metro (as the video shown that you asked the attendant on the first desk and asked if you can buy daily pass for Taipei metro. He told you that he only sells Taoyuan Metro daily pass.) You need to go to Taipei to buy daily pass for Taipei which is about half hour away from this airport. By the way, from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei, people should always take airport MRT which is much cheaper than taxi. The difference is like US$40 vs a few bucks like US$3.

    Seems like airport train and metro system is like Vienna, Austria?

  • @WandererBell

    @WandererBell

    8 ай бұрын

    In Austria, the airport train is part of the Austrian transportation system and it is easier to buy a ticket from the airport all the way to the city center. In Taiwan, the airport metro is separate from the city metro and they are not integrated with each other.

    I considered getting the EasyCard, but I heard there is a fee to obtain it, along with a required deposit and the need to return it upon leaving Taipei. It might be a more convenient option, but I didn't want to manage the hassle of dealing with any remaining balance on the card when departing Taipei

    @WandererBell The easy card is similar to Japan's card system so you can just tap and go rather than buying each time. I keep it for next time I return.
