That tractor has history on the farm, it's a shame this happened, but the potential to rebuild it and have that much more history in it is quite exciting. I really love when something can be fixed rather than tossed out.

Yup exactly this. Look at what Onelonelyfarmer did with his JD that burned. That was rebuilt and is still being worked to this day.

Absolutely! Weve rebuilt a few tractors and its always thrilling. Especially in the end! You have a wonderful sense of achievement, but also you get attached to them more too!
Glad to see you've got the extinguishers on order. It'll be right as rain eventually, at least no one was hurt.
Glad you weren’t hurt Tom. So sorry about your tractor.
Tom get more than 2 fire extinguishers at least 2 in every building! Thankfully you or anyone else not hurt! Sounds like a wash station for farm equipment is needed! Thank you for sharing, you may have saved someone’s life or barn with this reminder.
Good to see father with a clean shirt on ! A small dry powder fire extinguisher in each tractor, as well as the two you ordered to have around the farm, might also be wise. Old and simple is best - imagine the mess if that had been a new tractor - all the bells and whistles would have gone up!
Glad your OK Tom, time for a dry powder extinguisher in all your tractors!
I love how the Ginger points out the church where his father got married. Wonder where his mother got married?
Used to be the end of day friday job on our farm tom, all tractors got washed down , blown through with a compressor during harvest, wont take you long to get into the habit doesnt take that long then, took an hour for our 6 main ones , especially good habit to do if you do buy the vestrum, loads of small places for dry straw or grass to get into
Listening to your dad talking in the van reminds me so much of travelling with my own late father, every journey was a history lesson with him. There’s a lot more years left in that tractor, fair play for keeping her👍
Is it worth having an extinguisher in the cab of each of your vehicles? Getting the tractor fixed will also give you a warranty for a period of time.
The best and most important thing. You weren't hurt.

True!
Tom, I am a young farmer from Ireland, I would never think of anything like that happening, but thanks for the advice, after this video im going to check the tractors regularly and get an extra fire extinguisher for the place because you never know what can happen !
The beauty of old tractors, simple to fix. No unnecessary electronics that a basic loader tractor DOES NOT need or will ever use. All you need it to do is start, run and lift stuff ...... nuf said.
Every farm should have a decent leaf blower, not for leaves, for cleaning machinery. Looking forward to seeing it back on the farm. 🙂👍

Here in the states fire crews have even started using high volume leaf blowers to blow out grass fires.
Thank God that nobody was hurt. Things can be replaced but a person can't. I am so happy that you ordered fire extinguishers. I feel that every tractor should have one.
New tractor time!!!
Just really happy you weren't hurt Tom! The tractor can be fixed or replaced the same is not true for you!! But it's great that it was only minimal damage! You put good out you get good back! You and your dad are good men, good farmer's and it shows that's why I enjoy watching y'all so much! Take great care and stay well! Have a wonderful day!
Lessons Learned people keep your engines CLEAN ! And the Radiator as well !!
i was told the only things you should carry in your cab are a first aid kit, fire extinguisher and your lunch.
The most important thing is neither you or anyone got hurt. Just shows how easy incidents can happen & a lesson everyone can learn from. Thanks for being upfront & can't wait to see the 🚜back working on farm.
I'm glad everyone was ok. Can't wait to see her rebuilt!
Wow! Glad it wasn’t worse. Can’t wait to see her all fixed up again!
Glad it wasn't worse and nobody was hurt - gutting about the tracter but at least she can be cleaned up
Damn the perfect storm lol.Glad it will be up and working again.New tractors ant cheep! William USA
Very unfortunate glad no one was hurt and glad u can save the tractor i definitely learned something new that hay/silage can catch ur tractor on fire ur never to old to learn new things thanks for sharing
Glad noone was hurt. You both are so positive its amazing. I am looking forward to seeing it repaired & on the farm again. Have a great week.
Phew!!...fire of any sort is bound to give you a fligg...I am so glad that no one got hurt...I'll look forward to seeing her back on the farm...your father looks well...give all my love from Scotland
Glad you got out safely... Have a good evening 🌷🌷🌷
She definitely needs rebuilding and sorting and getting the old girl back. There is more than enough spare parts about to repair her quite cheaply I think.

One more reason to have a dedicated power wash bay.
My goodness, glad you are OK. Wonderful that the tractor is repairable.
Last year one of our neighbours had a tractor on fire which also burned a nearby fence. I immediately bought a dry powder extinguisher for our Case. His fire was due to having refuelled and had splashed diesel fuel over some hot bits and pieces. Great video, Tom, with a very important lesson.
10:24 I love the way his dad just walked off to look at the new Holland and case
Glad to hear your fixing it! The 85 series were brilliant tractors, when my dad used to sell IH/Case IH back in the day he sold loads of these! Glad no one was hurt!
Glad you are getting it sorted and nobody hurt. We had a similar fire with an old Leyland 270 loader tractor. Mixture of leaky injectors, oily engine and straw, the outcome was inevitable. Ours wasn't quite as bad as that and insurance had the repairs done.
We lost a 885 3 years ago, engine had run out of oil, threw the big end through the block and it cut the fuel line. Up she went and was completely burnt out, got a 856xl now which is a cracking machine!
Glad you got the fire out quick enough to save it. Great little tractor! You'll love it even more now you've saved/repaired it
So sorry to hear Tom. Glad no one was injured.
Every tractor should have its own fire extinguisher 🧯. Plus you should have at least one in every building. I love your farming and enjoy all your videos.
Glad you are ok Tom, gonna check the tractors now! I love that tractor such a beast, still starts!!!!
Brilliant video Tom, thank you!
Restore it fully rebuild her & make her back to her former glory... be a nice classic working on the farm all painted up & restored to glory 👌
I’d say a powder extinguisher on every tractor and you’re teleporter as well. Ye got seriously lucky with that one. If it happened in the middle of winter it would have been a hell of a lot worse for ye

Can confirm an extinguisher on every bit of kit that has a motor is not a bad idea at all, especially if it is something that can drive around as you dont know where you might be when an issue occurs. I know that sounds like overkill but it really isn't, nor is it terribly expensive. The other thing to keep in mind, is to have your extinguishers inspected/tested on a yearly basis by a professional. You can write that off on your taxes as a business expense, and you might even be able to negotiate with your insurer for a lower rate due to the decreased likely hood of an issue like this happening again.
Tom, that tractor is a beauty, just needs a bit of time. I bought burned Class Celtics 456 that one day decided to go with flames. Fire started under cab and it was a huge mess, all of the hydraulic lines, gearbox wiring, gearbox ECU, aux hyd cables and solenoids, almost complete interior burned, rear mudguards, and owner scrapped it. It cost me 1000 euros (parts) and a lot of time to get it fixed and it's a beauty now and I love it even more.
So very glad it all worked out, and Tom very glad you where not hurt.
At least u were not in it at the time stay safe and I'm now gonna check my own tracktor
Good to see you and the Ginger werent hurt! Safety always. Keep extinguishers handy.

It makes sense for a dairy farm where you are not trying to plant with sub 1" accuracy and 99.5% efficiency, but the computers are certainly worth it on cereal farms
Glad to see no one was hurt and all safe and my cousin always says there is no point cleaning the tractor and I can now show him this and explain why then😂😁 keep up the great work
Maybe you need an extinguisher onboard each of the tractors 👍
Glad to see the tractors staying, it's all too easy to just scrap things. Your turning into a proper eco warrior once again.👍😄👍😄
My neighbour has always had bird nesting troubles, so he leaves the bonnet up. As this makes him check it out. On the one occasion he forgot, he was out mowing and it caught fire and burnt to the ground. Carry a big fire extinguisher as well. Good luck with the rebuild. It will be a cracker after..
Hello from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for sharing your great video’s please keep them coming.

Got lucky there tom! glad your safe, great channel, done some serious fire damage there! keep up the good work bud.
Hi Tom. Sorry to here about yer case. Last year our zetor 11441 went on fire but luckily we were able to stop it. Thankfully our local dealer could fix it. Since then it's been a year since it was in a field and hopefully in a few days shell be back in the fields at silage
I just taken a fam still not ready for cattle but crops are fine thank u for the new knowledge I’m only 18 and in my time I have never seen this happen so big thanks too u & dad
glad your safe good luck sorting the tractor.
Glad you’re ok and the tractor is salvageable
Your roads are sooo nice!!😍😍😍😍
Glad you werent hurt, other than heartbroken that this happened. Its amazing how well some of these older tractors just refuse to die! Theyre true work horses. I think id bolt a fire extinguisher onto each of the tractors, not just old smoky! God forbid it happens again in the middle of a field in dry weather. As always, you and yours are in my prayers!!
Glad it’s positive news with the case Tom the tractors got history on your farm and as you’ve said it’s never missed a beat until now hope to see it back on the farm soon, and would definitely give some money to a go fund me page to see it back at its home again with fire extinguishers 😁
Great that you repear it!
At least you weren’t hurt Tom you can replace tractor but not you Tom stay safe you all
Glad your safe tom, be good to see the rebuild of it, be as good as new.
Hi Tom and the ginger guy with the moustache sorry to hear about the tractor, it’s good news that it can be fixed and your ok 👍
Glad you are all ok and pleased you will get the tractor fixed. Its always worth carrying a fire extinguisher in all vehicles. If you never need it, you may come across someone who does. Glad all will be well.
The ol' girl still runs?! That is impressive! Definitely worth keeping something as bullet proof as the 885 chugging along!
Glad you are ok. Brand new tractor soon. 🐏🐑🐄🐂👍🏼🇺🇾
I'm very glad that nobody was hurt! Hopefully it won't happen again.
I had the same thing (A few hours before we were to leave the farm for a flight to Antigua way down south for some sun . When putting out hay with my Bobcat I lost power in the lifting, Looked out the back window and seen the whole thing burning so I got it safe away from the hay and tried BUT it burnt the engine area DONE. We did get away and our friends looked after everything for a week. God Bless your Friends.
Glad that you were not hurt and a lesson has been learned
OMG, insurance is a great thing. Glad everything is coming out on the up and up. And NO hurts. Knock on wood 🪵. Many times. Lol 😂
Glad it can be fixed and you're ok Tom.
Thank god nobody hurt...and your right to put it back...a great little tractor...A lesson for everybody here...stay safe
So glad you are safe. Stay safe, both you and the ginger guy.
Honestly your vids are so watchable and enjoyable
It will be as good as new again guys keep smashing it ye rock 👍
Very lucky tractor is repairable, and no injuries.
Tanco front loaders brings back memories, my dad worked for them at Backbarrow and then Greenodd until they closed the English manufacturing site, the time I spent as a kid messing about in Tanco’s yard
If you guys have an air compressor every couple of weeks it’s always worth blowing them out as well as the radiator and air filters. During hay season we do that every morning it’s well worth it.
That's one determined tractor lol ! Sorry about the fire, I'm glad you guys are able to get it fixed and back!
Tractors can be replaced, but you can't. We are all very grateful that you weren't hurt x x
I remember a similar story with a slip clutch on a topper catching fire to me 2 miles from anyone! Was not an experience I’d like again! Stay safe farmers carry all safety measures. I’m also really glad yourself and your father are absolutely unscathed Tom.
Looking at that melted tractor, who would ever believe it would start back up again? Crazy how tough that beast is. I'm glad that you will be able to salvage it, and very glad that you weren't hurt. That fire must have been scary as hell. Good for you for keeping you wits about you to get help quickly, and even better, you have learned from the situation. We'll all feel better when we see the fire extinguishers that you ordered in the cabs of the farm equipment.
Glad it worked out in the end. Also keep a fire extinguisher in ever tractor 🚜
You need to get a leaf blower and set a schedule to blow off every piece of equipment once a week to hopefully avoid something like this again. Glad you weren't hurt and I hope they can fix it quickly for y'all! Love from Alabama, USA!
Good Tuesday afternoon to you all from wellington Somerset
Good job the field didn't catch fire, pleased your all ok
Just goes to show, that things that you don't really take much notice off, can do the most damage. Glad you will be able to get her back working again Tom. 👍
Keep either a 24v leaf blower or one of those Ryobi 18v blowers on the factor for such purposes, right next to your fire extinguisher. Just open that engine hatch up and blow it out at the end of the day, new chore, everyone loves new chores. Glad you're okay, glad the tractors salvageable!
good old tractor. luckily for you they can fix it for a good price. you are lucky it happened when you were out of the tractor. you would have made a pretty sad face it it started while driving ...
Good job on them for giving it a once or twice over to make sure it's not entirely banjaxed. I'm glad you are ok and the unit is repairable.
It might be wise to carry a small extinguisher inside the cabs of the tractors, it’ll buy you time till someone comes with a bigger extinguisher
glad everyone is safe
Glad you’re ok Tom , you need to put a small fire extinguisher in all of your tractors, but it’s good to know that she will be back working on the farm again, 👍🚜.
It's a good job it wasn't a newish combine. Glad you are all ok and unhurt.
Tom, clean as soon as possible, extinguishing powder is salty and aggressive stuff !!!
Oh my! I take a two week internet break and come back and see this video. How crazy I'm so glad this wasn't worse. Great video Tom! 💛💙💜💚❤
