I noticed a bunch of ladybugs on the papaya you have set up for them to forage from. Will they eat those as well? It was honestly pretty surprising to see them ignoring any insects to go after the papaya!

I think what you're seeing are the papaya seeds. I've never seen a lady bug even in their aviary.

I think the foliage and humidity I keep in the area attracts them.

How many toucans do you have?

If it makes you feel any better about the toad thing, my little dog likes to kill mice, and then hide their bodies under the furniture, and pull them out to play with them when she thinks I'm not looking. Or she deposits them in my bed. I love my dog but holy crap, she nasty.
