After realising I had more than ten books I'd like to give a special mention to in my first Top Ten video, I decided to list a few more!

    I really love that "Spider-man by Roger Stern" omnibus. I have it as well, and it's my favorite for the character so far. Loved Whedon's take on "Astonishing X-men" as well. Even though I don't have the omnibus, I do have all the individual comics and enjoyed the work a lot. Interestingly, Whedon was the first writer to actually make me like Cyclops (don't like the character as written by anyone else, including the legendary Claremont). That "Thor" ominbus is *the* omnibus for that character in my opinion. I also adore that run and consider it the high-water mark for the series. I own both the individual comics and the omnibus for that run. Just so good. Excellent follow-up to your previous top ten video. Enjoyed this list. Thanks!

    Congrats on 1k subs! Great two part vid on your top 20 marvel omnibus, I would agree with most of them! I know it's something kinda most of d KZreadr in this community does, but I think you should do this 'top list' more here n there.( I got d feeling a DC omni one is coming soon from u!). Also 'hidden gems' or just great stuffs that ppl don't talk about much. More of indie stuffs outside of the big two would be great too. Keep up the good work n contents, may ur ch grow n more ppl check it out. U deserve it with what ur doing for d community with d passion n effort u put in these vids. Keep it real always, peace n love from Malaysia n here is for many more subs in d future mate, cheers!

    Great choices overall and I’m glad to see someone give so much love to the silver and bronze ages! I really do need to check out that Sensational She-Hulk omni if I can track one down. My top 20 would probably look a lot like yours with the exception of the Spider-Gwen book. I’d probably replace it with Daredevil by Bendis Vol 1. I’d also have to find a way to get FF by Hickman Vol 2 in there.

    To be honest, even when expanding this into two videos to cover 20 books rather than 10, there's still stuff I had to leave out which I would have liked to include!

    Great video thank you. Love the list. As a relative newcomer to omnis am delighted that already have most of these on the “to read” pile. Spider Gwen an interesting choice as, like you, I have been put off my the cartoony art but think I’m am going to give it a go as the result of seeing your review

    @@TheComicBookTrove early days for me so far and have read a lot of the silver & Bronze Age omnis that I grew up with eg ASM 1-5, Uncanny 1-3, Avengers 1-4 and FF. Of the “new”stuff, so far enjoyed New X-Men, Astonishing X-Men and Ultimates (which I know is divisive). Got so much piled up - Ultimate SM, Daredevil by Bendis, Avengers by Busiek/ Perez, New Avengers, She-Hulk etc etc. TBH there is so much stuff by creators I feel are worth following, Bendis, Millar, Morrison, Johns, David - and that’s not even counting the artists - it’s hard to know where to start

    Seeing you flip through the pages, it seems the old comics had way more dialogue. The new ones like Astonishing X-Men and Spider-Gwen have more art and way less talk.

  • @TheComicBookTrove

    @TheComicBookTrove

    10 ай бұрын

    Yeah that's definitely true in general. Older comics had a tendency to over explain things with narration that wasn't always necessary, whereas modern comics tend to let the artwork itself tell a lot more of the story. The older style can take some getting used to if you've not read many but I can definitely enjoy both newer and older comics

    You're killing my wallet this month, it's all great stuff though. I agree with you about wanting Marvel to reprint the Tomb of Dracula omnibuses. I was lucky enough to grab the first one for a good price off of eBay but, no such luck with vol 2 & 3. Any plans on doing a top 10 DC? Regardless, keep up the great work. I love watching the videos. I have heard so many good things about alias and have the TPBs waiting to be read. Each time I pick it up, I feel very blocked by the art work, a real turn off for me. One day I will read it and no doubt kick myself for leaving it so long. But, geez I am not at all a fan of that art work. Like a poor mans Sean Phillips, Michael Lark.

    I know what you mean, the artwork doesn't really stand out in any great way, I think I described it as "functional" if I remember rightly and that is pretty much the best way I can describe it, it worked fine with the story as I read it but it's nothing amazing
