    What I would like to see is solving a Mirror Cube blindfolded event. You dont ever see the cube; you have a blindfold on the whole time. You feel for the pieces and solve it based on what your fingers are feeling.

    What about relays? I can actually see them gaining a lot of popularity if they become official. Likely only 2-5 and possibly 2-4, since anything higher would increase time significantly. It'd probably just be a single or (maybe) a mo3 for 2-4. As for what new *puzzles* the WCA could add, 20-35 seconds is the sweet spot; I don't think we should be adding puzzles that can be one-looked, too. Those get too scramble dependent.

  • @Z3Cubing

    @Z3Cubing

    5 жыл бұрын

    Honestly, it would just take too long more the majority of cubers (even 2-4 would take 2-3 minutes for many people), and it doesn’t introduce anything new over just adding up your times for 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4.

    I was just thinking of the Curvy Copter cube right before you suggested it! I agree that it's a good one. I don't agree with disallowing the jumbling, though, since it's a major part of the puzzle. Where otherwise each "petal" piece is restricted to 6 positions, making them easy to solve, jumbling allows them to freely interchange between all 24 petal locations on the puzzle.

    If curvy copter gets added, the scrambles would absolutely need to include jumbling! Jumbling is an important aspect of the solve, it’s what makes the puzzle unique and interesting. Without jumbling, the puzzle is boring and easy. It would be like saying “Let’s add 3x3x5, except you can only turn the long layers 180° so the puzzle never shapeshifts and never gets fully scrambled.”

    So? If the WCA made it a new event, the demand for them would go up, resulting in more companies wanting to make it, causing competition in the market. Take 3x3 for example. Companies are constantly trying to make the best cube because there is high demand for 3x3. If curvy copter became an event, companies would want to make money on it.

    I agree! Though I think the jumbling moves make the puzzle interesting, so I'd like them to stay. And people complain about hardware now, but consider that the first speed cubers were using lubricated Rubik's 3x3s, and that argument kind of goes out the window in my opinion.

I do disagree with what you said about jumbling. the CC community kinda treats those moves as entirely legal, and that's part of the fun of solving it imo. Though: going out of cube shape entirely can be a problem, and isn't always fun to solve, so if they jumbled while keeping CS solved, I'd be fine with that.

    WCA events I want: #1 Palm 3x3 It’s the 3x3, but you have to use your palms The tricks using your palms would probably be interesting PLEASE don’t do a blind fold version of this #2 Badly Turning 2x2 It’s a 2x2 except it turns bad, so it’s a non-speed_cube Times would probably be much lower, OBVIOUSLY it turns bad #3 5 Methods I don’t care which cube it’s on It’s easy to explain it, you start with it finished, then you scramble it, then do a method You do it 5 times, each time being a different method #4 Non-cuber Race The score counts as how many 3x3s you can do while a non-cube does a different kind 3 choices, Pyraminx, 4x4, or 2x2 (or you can do ‘Non-cuber Race Pyraminx’, ‘Non-cuber Race 4x4’, and ‘Non-cuber Race 2x2’) #5 Algorithmic In this one, you do 5 algorithms for a 2x2, then 3x3, then 4x4 Since there’s shorter and longer algorithms and easier and harder algorithms, Each person does the same algorithm or else it will be unfair Sorry if any of these are already in the WCA, I don’t know all of the WCA events

    Here are my 3 potentials (that Z3 didn't mention) 2x2x3: A bit more complex than the 2x2 and requires some logic than things like the skewb where you spam the sledgehammer over and over. Gear Cube: This cube is also a bit more logic based with it's gimmick of the middle layer turning every 2 side turns. Ivy Cube: Basically a 2x2 skewb. This puzzle is interesting in a way where it is easy uncertain moves but still interesting die to it's skewb format and different turns.

    The axis cube might be a fun shapemod of the 3x3. It has the nice property that since the cuts are aligned to edges and corners, there's only one way to make them, avoiding the standardization issue. It also has the most visual chaos when scrambled of any puzzle I can think of, and the checkerboard configuration looks like a Rubik's Caltrop.

    In my opinion if the curvy copter would be ever added it should have 2 different events: jumbling and no jumbling. The jumbling event would allow jumbling, but no jumbling wouldn't.

    You brought up some good points but I still think the Redi Cube is the best option. All of the other cubes (besides Curvy Copter which I think is a bit to difficult for speed solving but I don’t have one) are just different versions of puzzles already in the WCA, while the Redi Cube is completely different. I also think that if it became an event, more companies would start to make it because there is more of a demand for it. Finally, it’s intuitive enough to be fun, but provides some challenges (like block building and move efficiency) to get good times. That’s just my opinion though. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

    I think the single brand of cube is by far the main factor in the way right now; if there were enough interest in the community to make it an event, there would be plenty of companies already producing their own versions (like with the kilominx and master pyraminx). Also, I would argue that the puzzle is extremely similar to the pyraminx, even more so than other cubes in this video.
