Hey Mell! I'm still pretty new to curly hair because it used to be totally straight. After 2 years of chemo & radiation, I was totally bald. To my surprise, it has grown back curly! I'm still learning how to work with it and what products to use. Your videos have been helpful and - bonus! - they're entertaining. As I get better at handling the curls, it would be awsome to see some videos on how to style it. Like... ways to pull it up, how to use clips, jaws, jazzy sticks, that sort of thing. I'll continue to watch you and your sister until you stop making videos! Thank you :)

this is why you're so awesome:( This is my first comment on your channel! I'm a young teen, and have grew up with people having looser textures while mine is like yours naturally but I we never took of it as it is, so I didn't know how nor did I have a guidance. Now I have a guidance which is you. I'm glad you give choices for in budget and for beginners, as well as to putting in thought like weather! It feels I have a spot to talk about my hair and on where I can get advice as too what is needed, recommended, and of good use. I'm just glad I found you! you're a great help, and I wish for your channel to grow further more! Thank you Mell!!

Lost in my curly hair journey is probably the most accurate description of the situation I've been in for the past months. I decided to grow my hair out and all the products I was using gradually started to fail on me and I don't seem to find stuff that works for me. I have a lot of kinky curls, curls turning more into waves, also they don't last that long anymore. Got no volume anymore meanwhile I sometimes needed to style in a certain way in order for my hair to not be as voluminous. Wet and dry frizz. I just can't figure out what my hair wants and it drives me nuts! :/

Look up videos on porosity and how to check for your porosity. For me it came down to that. I also have a few curl patterns on my head, from loose waves to very curly (no coils) and figuring out what works have been a life long journey. I can tell you my routine changes as hormons and weather change, but at least I know how to tweak it.

@@funchik93 As others have said use a clarifying product so you have a clean slate. Then see if you need some protein or moisture. This is sorta the basis for everything else. Maybe you’ll be lucky and won’t need anything. But it’s best to start with a clean slate. This channel has many videos explaining where to start. Ask away. If you don’t get an answer elsewhere reply to this comment and I’ll reply if I might be able to help. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

As others in this chain have said, try a good clarifying shampoo (make sure to follow with a nice treatment). My hair was having such trouble clumping for multiple wah days, but a clarifying shampoo solved it! Turns out I had a bunch of buildup from using a cowash and a bad shampoo.

Mell! Once again, swooping in with all the DEETS on the best routine ever for curly hairs. I've been a long-time fan of you and your seester, but I have recently been struggling with my hair. I just graduated from nursing school and started my career in a hospital. Finding ways to keep my curls out of my face but still show them off is very difficult for me. I use a lot of braids as my go-to for work, and my hair has been absolutely unmanageable, making me only want to braid it or pull it up in a bun so I don't have to worry about it. I'm struggling! I could use all the help I can get!

  • @jenniferprice9971

I get the struggle. I work in fast food and my preferred hair length is just long enough for it to put in a ponytail so my curls end up stretch out as a result so I don’t feel like putting in as much effort on wash day. I’m still slightly afraid of stretching them out too far. I would love more tips on either styling curls up and not stretching them out or tips for what to do after they are worn up to help with manageability.

My latest wash day was using your HHEO PrepStyleFinish method, and you can imagine the horror I felt when my day 2 hair had to experience 80-85% humidity in NYC! I thought my hair was done for, but when I got back, my 4a coils were still perfect and defined, without being dry (which is big for my hi-po hair). Due to force of habit, I started to do a full refresh with sectioning before realizing that I didn’t need to! I just diluted some gel with water, and glazed it over my hair to touch up my roots, then blasted it with some cool air and added oil. It looks perfect! Thank you!

My fiance has curls just a LITTLE looser than yours, but they're so fried because up until we met, he never learned how to care for them and just brushed them out. He's been really trying to bring his curls back to standard but doesn't have the attention span to do the research lol. His birthday is coming up and I figured I would look for some good methods and products that wouldn't add too much time to his shower and help with the longevity of his curls!! Super excited! This video is very helpful and easy to understand even for me who doesn't have curls haha

I have wavy/loose curly hair and have been STRUGGLING. Everytime I have one good wash day it's followed by 2/3 awful refresh days and it's exhausting 😪 trying to stick with it because I love embracing my natural hair

I have a similar experience - I’d really recommend the Aussie curl refresh spray, out of everything I’ve tried it’s the only one that feels “right” for my combo of loose curls/waves instead of feeling like I’m using something that was really meant for curlier hair. I use it both to refresh and on wash day. Refresh days still are nowhere near as good as wash day, and I have yet to find something that has long-lasting hold that works for me (hence having to reapply the Aussie spray), but it at least has me at a place where I know I can make my hair look good in a consistent way instead of every wash being a surprise.

I have curly hair. I don’t refresh, I just wash my hair with a conditioner then on the third day I use the shampoo. I also use hair oil and that has been a game changer for my curls.

Could you make a video with a styling routine where the number one goal is hair health, and is less focused on volume, or definition? I’m trying to grow this hair out. Also thoughts on Olaplex 8 and how to use it in a curly hair routine? THANK YOU QUEEN MEL.

@@ManesByMell Thank you so much. My hair used to be curly but after I grew out my natural silver hair it’s no longer curly, it’s wavy and very wiry like and dry. I’ve tried so many products and nothing seems to calm the frizz and dryness either.

Hey Mell! This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I am already subscribed!!! I need to know, though, if this works on the less-coiled curls like mine? When I was younger I never did anything to my curls and almost completely brushed them out, so they aren't as 'full' anymore (also the fact that I'm the only person in my family with curly hair does NOT help). If you could respond to this, please do! I also would like to know if gel is ok to use to maintain my curls throughout the day? Anyway, TYSM girlie!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!!!! 🙏🙏
