I wonder... If another actor had been chosen to be the Phantom in the 25th would people feel the same about Ramin? I'm not saying he's not good. He's one of the best Phantoms in the show's history, but I dunno if I'd call him the best of all. He's got some pitch issues (you can notice in the 25th), but I like the way he plays the Phantom. Plus the chemistry he has with Sierra is incredible.

Also, to me is voice is a little too high. Doesn't really have the same mysterious effect

I risk making enemies by saying this, but it’s my honest take on the Ramin fever everyone seems to have-nothing about his portrayal seems unique. To me, he’s just a strong singer and so so actor. I love some of your selections. My favs are MC, Gary Mauer, Brad Little, and Howard McGillin! Thanks for posting 😉

Honestly I agree with you with Ramin. Though I feel it’s pretty hard to put a better spin than Micheal Crawford tbh. MC really made the character what it is.

I’m tired of seeing people saying “you were unfair to Ramin” it’s their opinion not yours. Tbh Ramin isn’t the best Phantom for me. Let this person alone if they don’t like Ramin they don’t Ramin it’s their opinion and their choice to put which stop he’s at on their list not yours

My favorite phantom has to be 1. Ramin Karimloo like how can you not? 2. Earl Carpenter 3. Hugh or Peter :)

This is someone's opinion on their all-time favorite actors who have played the Phantom. They're not seeking recommendations who should be on the list or where to place them. Let alone listening to the bashing of "This person needs to be number 1. How could you not put them there?!." My all-time favorite isn't on here at all. I'm hardly holding a grudge. That being said. I love me some Hugh Panaro! :)

Silver54ful I've never heard anyone say they disliked Hugh Panaro. Even if you have another favorite singer, Hugh is nice person and animal-lover, his singing voice is a showstopper and he pours so much energy into very original characterizations. Its like finding out that you didn't win a contest, but your best friend did. :)

Song Thief I was a fan of his as soon as I heard he likes to have his dog around for company in his dressing room. Since I to am a massive animal lover. He had me as puddy in his hands. Being a gifted actor, vocalist and a an all around nice person is a bonus. LOL!

Thank you so much for sharing this! The last part of Hugh was STUNNING!! He's now included on my top favourite Phantoms. Though, my favourite will always be Ramin Karimloo, but after him my favourite ones are Hugh Panaro, John Owen-Jones, Earl Carpenter, Geronimo Rauch. And thanks to this video I really could see why everybody says Hugh is Amazing.

I love seeing other people’s lists. Yours is mostly the same phantoms as mine just in a different order. I would have Ramin and Michael tied for first in mine. After that I would have a hard time ranking Hugh (one of the most underrated and awesome phantoms ever) John Cudia, Colm, Ben Lewis, JOJ, Warlow, Mauer and on. It’s just so hard to do! Kudos to your list!

Very elegant presentation, I liked all the photos you used to introduce the phantoms, very flattering. I like your list, I'm glad to see a lot of subtle underrated artists getting acknowledgment in this video. Do you think you will make a video like this for your favorite Christines or Raouls one day? I would be interested in seeing your opinions again.

omG. I was schocked to see Ramin on 13th Place... For he is the best for me! :(( I think ihe plays Eric with such a great feeling, and his voice *-* And I personally think it is qesom ehow he includes Screaming (the techinque) into fitting parts! :D And Michael is a great Phantom... but I am not a such a huge fan of his voice, sadly, but he is great and I like him! to me, his voice is to... high maybe? i dont know how to describe it... But they are all awesome!

Thank you so much for posting this. I didn't know some of these actors existed. I've been a fan of this musical for nearly 30 years, and have never really found a match for Michael Crawford, except perhaps in Ramin. Seeing and listening to Hugh Panaro has changed all that.

wow everyone is so salty about Ramin not being higher! He's not everyone's favorite!! Like, to me he was okay, more on the good side than not, but not hands down the one and only ever ... At least he was in her list at all, if you think of how many Phantom's there've been! And, nice to see John Cudia on here...of the Phantom's I've actually seen live, he is my favorite.

I really enjoyed your list! I haven't seen much of Hugh Panero as the Phantom so I can't say I'd put him number one but I definitely enjoy what I've seen. MC will always be my number one Phantom though. I'm also happy to see that you icluded Franc D'Ambrosio on your list. He was the first Phantom I saw live and he was very good. He's seriously underrated.

I don't think you were fair to Ramin Karimloo, you should have put a clip in from the 25 anniversary, he was amazing in that one.

Sure, I liked Norm. He brought out a new side of Phantom and I like that he has his own interpretation of the role. I think he's really great.

My favourites are Michael Crawford; Alexander Lewis; Roy Weissensteiner; Mikael Samuelson; Anthony Warlow; etc.

The phantoms that really influence me can really go on, but my tops are: Ramin, Hugh, John Cudia, JOJ, Michael Crawford, Chris Mann, and Norm Lewis.

Just my thoughts on this are: In regards to the original musical then I would say: Michael Crawford Anthony warlow John Owen Jones And for love never dies: Ben Lewis Ramin

I think you were a little unfair to Ramin. This isn't his best performance, therefore not the best clip. Also, he was sick during this performance. I think if you took a clip from the 25th phantom you may like him better.

Kevin Gray, in my opinion, was the best Phantom ever. There is a video of him on KZread. Video is poor quality.

Ramin should have definitely been higher. No hate just saying that you could have put a better clip of Ramin in the video like from the 25th anniversary. He was so amazing. He and Sierra are like the most dynamic duo ever.

My Top: 1)Gerard Butler 2)Ramin Karimloo 3)Ben Lewis 4)John Owen-Jones Certainly, I am puzzled to see that Ramin Karimloo is in 13th place he has very good technique performs well with Erik and Ben Lewis and Gerard Butler are not even in the top, they are also very good Ghosts; Gerard has a beautiful voice, is an actor mostly but has very cute vozy his performance for me was very inspiring and Ben acts in a very beautiful way and his voice is also beautiful ...

First of all, Ramin's 25th performance for me was meh, so I think he's right where he belongs on this list. For me it's 1.) Earl Carpenter, who made me cry big hefty tears 2.) Michael Crawford, whose voice and presence remain unmatched 3.) John Owens-Jones, who gave me chills 4.) Gerard Butler, who introduced me to musicals and made me cry. He was exceptional and I will die on this hill. 5.) Ben Lewis, who I listen to on repeat Peter Jöback and Ben Forster are honorable mentions because I did like them, but I haven't seen enough to consider them favorites. I'm trying to broaden my horizons to more Phantoms and Christines, so this video was very helpful to find someone to watch next.

Actually, he never played Phantom. Yes he was chosen to be the original Phantom but they replaced him with Michael Crawford. And I don't like Steve Harley as the Phantom (in my opinion, if you like him, I'm really sorry). I prefer Michael Crawford because his voice is PERFECT for Phantom. Scary at some points and gentle when needed to.

Oh yes, I love Ben Lewis! He's such an amazing and scary Phantom. :) However, he never performed as Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, only in Love Never Dies so I couldn't include him in the list.

:-/ That first dude was horrible. I did NOT like his voice. Ramin is, by far, the best, but the clip you have of him is NOT one of his better moments. I think his performance for the 25th anniversary @ the Royal Albert Hall was better. Dave Willetts' performance was freakin' SCARY, dude. Not sure I liked him. Gary Mauer's voice was REALLY nice! I liked it a lot. :-) Howard McGillan was pretty good, but the vibrato doesn't do much for me, though I understand that that particular scene is supposed to be really emotional, so it's okay. Earl Carpenter was pretty cool. Clip was just short, though. :-) John Cudia was okay; the clip just didn't really highlight his voice very well. Matthew Cammelle was okay. :-) He had some good points in that clip. Now as far as Michael Crawford goes, I don't get why he's so popular. I mean, I get that he was the first Phantom (apart from Steve Harley), but his voice just isn't that GOOD. At least, not to me. JOJ has a SUPER nice voice, but I'm not big on his acting skills. Kinda dull and boring. Now, that clip you have of him is pretty decent. Hugh Panaro has a decent voice. That's all I'll say about that. I will say this one thing, and then I'll be done:: Peter Joback should have NEVER been picked to play the Phantom. I cannot STAND his voice. It sounds like a bleating sheep. There. I'm done.

Lol yeah Peter Karrie is always like a kind of joke to me. I started being a "phan" back in 1997 when the internet was in its infancy. So the clips and whatever were really limited back then. I remember hearing clips of Peter Karrie live, and my sister and I would constantly make of fun of it. Maybe he was good if you saw him live, his acting or something, idk. But just hearing him...he was just SO over the top, all over the place, so extra and not in a good way

Cos Gerard is a terrible singer. Especially compared to the guys on this list, they're some of the best professionally trained singers in the world, Gerards only previous singing experience was "he was in a band"
