Evirthewarrior old school runescape gets a ton of updates, way more than any mmo on this list and all the updates are voted on by the players. Only thing that's old is it's graphics.

What are you talking about? The core game play mechanics is what everyone loved, they hated the updates. Which is why they released the 2007 version of the game now all the updates are community chosen. Now since osrs has been around for a while and there has been a ton of updates, it's basically like we got the loved version of the game and are now able to have a second chance with the pdates and for the past 4 years everyone has loved it. After being out for 16 years it is still unique for 99% of any other mmos.

i have to disagree with ESO being #1 improved mmo, it has, but I feel like Final Fantasy 14 would be, because when it first launched, and is now known as 1.0, was a utter Disaster, and instead of just shutting it down or something, they remade the ENTIRE game, and now it's Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, just my opinion

I unsubbed because it's always the same content but basically reskinned. It got really boring really fast so I moved to Overwatch which is very unique and I can't stop playing. I think I played it more than I played Legion in the same amount of time(~2 months).

Same here... Legion is amazing for me. New animations, visual upgrades, new class and items. Just amazing! But thinks fu*cking grind... You literally have to grind this freaking AP and items which works with your class to be good in PvE and PvP. That's pathetic, boring and exhausting for me. I don't think I will play WoW again. It's not for casuals like me.

why would u grind ur artifact? just do w/e u like and u will get plenty artifact power, you just need to do ur research for faster AP. Also world quests are much better than dailies, now u can actually choose which ones u want to do and choose ur rewards

Stop wasting your time and money on free to play or buy to play MMOs. MMO's are by nature, costly games with the costs never ending and constantly growing. Businesses are designed to maximize profits, specifically short term. You will never find one with a healthy community and a reasonable business model. Subscriptions are the only way this genre will survive. You need to tie the developers revenue directly to the satisfaction of the player base. You need to make sure they cant coast off a few hundred or thousand whales spamming the cash shop. It's the same reason your local Gym charges every month. They can't maintain the place and provide the type of things you need with a one time fee. They need to service the machines, clean the facility, pay employees. If they take away your favorite bench press, you leave for another gym, and they're money flow stops. Therefore it is in their best interest to keep you happy and returning. It's the same with MMO's.

I'm well aware some people want to play at their own pace in bursts or just for a short period of time while they wait for another release. I was talking more to the crowd that is somehow surprised every time a free game they are playing decides to screw you over in favor of money. Thats the INEVITABLE outcome for a free to play/buy to play MMO.

Something I want to mention about FFXIV is the community. I do happen to play on an EU server (Cerberus to be exact), but my experience with the community has been fantastic. Sure, when you're doing harder content and wiping over and over again there are the toxic players (As with any MMO), but overall FFXIV has the best community I've ever been a part of. As far as the content goes, I highly recommend you look into Coil and Extreme Primals Peon. Get some of your fans to help you (DON'T USE DUTY FINDER). FFXIV isn't for everyone, but one of the biggest reasons I still load it up is the fights. Now, I have never played WoW so I can't compare it to those fights, but I've really really enjoyed the extreme Trials, Alexander (pretty much level 60 Coil), and Coil.

I totally agree, coming from the WoW community which...has its characters (pun intended) the FFXIV community has been wonderful! I play on NA server and have rarely encountered really toxic players and nothing close to the jerks I've seen in WoW so many times.

I'd bet my left nut that Oldschool RS is more popular than FF Online

Can you remake a review of Aion 5.1?

Tbh it seemed like he googled "Blade and soul" and just told us what he read, I admit it's one of those games where the actual game doesn't start till you're capped, but I've played a large amount of mmo's and BnS was the only one that actually stood out. The combat in my opinion is the best in any mmorpg, the pvp is super competitive, and the pve isn't TOO grindy.

The gender-lock and lack of customization are entirely due to how they do the animation of the player characters, so it is never going to go away. The damn thing is straight at the level of an AAA single-player action title and that can only work out if they have full control over all the possible designs of the classes. I also hate not being able to personalize my armor, but in the end of the day I think it's a worthy trade-off for a combat as fluent as BDO's.

My PC is crap but the only game i've really liked is Guild Wars 2. I would love ESO too but its too expenssive for me, Black Desert looks amazing but my PC can't handle it to enjoy the game. So basically i'm stuck with older generation games, like GW2, WoW, ESO and such, but hey - can't complaint because GW2 is awesome, even tho just like you, i got to cap level in it and there isn't really much anything else to do and i got bored and quit.

You missed the Steam sales a couple months ago. ESO had a free weekend and was down to 9.99€, 25€ for the special edition with the 4 main DLCs (Dark Brotherhood, Thieves' Guild, Cyrodill and Orsinium).

Well if you are on F2P acc, there isnt much you can do, i made a F2P acc to fuck around in PVP which is really awesome and requires a lot of skill(which a lot of ppl dont understand) I am plat on my main acc and there I can do everything, from fractals, raids, open world content(new episodic zones), there is a ton to do in GW2, except you can choose to do whatever you want and there is no mindless grind unless you are going for a Legendary Weapon(which is a good goal if you wanna have a goal)

@Keegan Its not overpriced. And £10 a month is a small price to pay to be apart of the biggest and best MMO ever created. WoW has been going strong for over 14 years and its still top dog. Id rather pay the monthly sub and play the greatest MMO ever created than buy and sink hours into something smaller like GW2. I guess its all about personal preference, but in reality, where subs are concerned, It mustn't be that overpriced if its still the most played MMO today. The Subscription model has stopped WoW from going p2w like almost every other MMO nowadays, and aside from about 10 billion other reasons, Not going p2w is one of the reasons why its still very much alive and at the top of the food chain 14 years later.

Really glad to see that you are back! I really enjoy your content. Like you I will always have a soft spot for Runescape, it was my first MMORPG. Legion has restored my faith in WoW though I have not been as intense a player as I once was. For me it has always been the social aspect of MMOs that made them better than most games but that seems to have been lost. If you hear about any games where the focus is on the social as well as a solid story line that would be cool. Thanks for all your hard work!

Hey that poll you did at the end is an awesome addition I dont see many review videos doo I think a lot of time people miss the fact that choosing an mmo to play has a lot more to do with you finding out what you really enjoy doing in a game instead of expecting every new mo to just give it you to without you asking. The poll in a way provides great community opinion obviously and second for some one like me imparticular having a higher population for group game play is one of my needs in a mmo. the poll list though obviously not 100% accurate still provides a little insight into the average player base

Guild Wars 2 is by far the best MMORPG ever made until today. Guild Wars 2 change the way how you play MMRPGs. After I play it, I never couldn't even play traditional MMORPGs anymore or go back to MMORPGs like WoW. Guid Wars 2 is a masterpeice and got rid from typical "boredom's" and the problems the traditional MMORPGs have overall.

GW 2 is pay2win af you can't use the fucking auction house if you have a free account, it may be a good mmo but not if you aren't going to consider spending on it

Padawan 1993 yea it's really hit or miss. I love it, but even I accidentally fall asleep grinding dungeons. Then again, it's probably because I play on PS4 with a couch and controller. Probably wouldn't have that issue staring at my pc.

Actually FF14 is objectively better than Wow, since both games are pretty similar in their core gameplay, but FF14 designes PVE content much, much better. At least at the quality level of TBC WoW. Legion is nice and all, but it's still not the best time the game ever had. Objectivity doesn't matter in the end, though. It's subjective enjoyment. And that rarely has a corelation to quality, as GW2 proves.

Dogebrand They used the Limit Break. It's a bar that fills up and only one person on the team can use it. If a tank uses it, it puts up a protective barrier for the team (pretty much never used). If a melee uses it, it does massive damage to the boss. If a healer uses it at level 3 (you only get to level 3 in raids or EX difficulty fights), it raises the whole team. There's strategy involved in who uses it and when.

I didn't expect you to say so much what I will agree with! I also didn't expect you to still be able to talk like that about BDO. Probably the best top10 2k16 list when it comes to explanation for your picks and order :)

I think it's really really silly that you haven't hit lvl 60 on FF14 yet. Based off the boss fight you keep looping you haven't even finished all of the pre expansion content. That's ridiculous, you pride yourself on playing this game and seem knowledgeable enough to make a list of the top ten mmos but haven't gotten to max level on the second biggest mmo in the world? It's such a huge handicap to have it on this list against over games that you actually HAVE experienced the end game content for. You literally put wow at the top of this list because "legion is so amazing" when you haven't even touched any heavensward content at all and the expansion has been our for like a year and a half now. And saying "everything pre max level was incredibly boring" may apply to the first ten levels. But FF14's dungeons are amazing a beautifully crafted. If we were to put a ff14 dungeon side by side with a wow dungeon there would literally be no comparison. I just feel like this was super biased and you shouldn't be able to make hugely influential list like this without even playing all the games to end game. Like... don't even put it on the list, just say "hey i still haven't even played this game to it's entirety so i can't rate it".

+Jordan Blume Final invisible walls 14 is the least open world game on the market. With repetative dumb quests and areas that look exactly the same as the next one. Really overated piece of shit. And dont even get me started on the mess of a map they have oh lord. This is what happend when you try to cater your game towards console plebs.
