The Young Wizards series by Diane Duane was one of my faves growing up, and I’m currently rereading it and it still holds up!! I think you would love it. It’s YA fantasy, 10 books long, and it also has a magic system that is centered around language & energy. The first few books focus primarily on our 2 main characters, but once you get further into the series, she really expands the cast SO well. Highly recommend! I also recommend the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne for a more urban fantasy feel! It’s been a while since I’ve read them, but I flew through them. Also, I absolutely love your channel! So many books have been added to my TBR because of you 😂

The Spear Cuts Through Water is amazing. No matter how many times I read it-and I’ve read it four times already-I love it so much! (First in the Rook and Rose trilogy) - it’s in my top five favorite fantasy books (possibly number one - it runs so close to Ashes of the Sun by Django Wexler). Read Robin Hobbs years back, great magical world building. Didn’t read all her books but what I read I enjoyed immensely. Fritz goes through hell in the second trilogy so Hobbs can be a little dark. I never worked out whether the Fool was male or female, the Fool’s character seemed like a morphing of both. The Fool was Amber in the first trilogy Live Ships where Amber was a master wisdom wood carver. Won’t give spoilers but it was a big part of the magic in Robin Hobb’s world.

I love the books by Siri Pettersen. Barely one knows about them. She is a norwegian author and writes nordic myths based fantasy. First three books are the Raven Ring books, followed by the Vardari books (first one out, second one releases in 2024). Another great series is the Amber Quartett by Sabah Tahir (An amber in the ashes being the fort one of the four).

I think the two reactions to Fitz are "I love him so much and I would do anything to protect him" or "He is the most annoying character of all time", with no in between. Luckily I fall in the former category so the Realm of the Elderlings is my favourite series of all time, but I feel for the people who don't feel the way I do. I do think Fitz gets a little less annoying as he gets older, though, so if you manage to push through Assassin's Quest, hopefully it would only get better for you from there!

@@gbisch1010 I think I’ve seen him make some mistakes over and over …and constantly be impulsive despite his assassin training and it just works me up.
