My Tone Journey Is Over

Ойын-сауық

So after a few years of getting to this point I am finally at a point where I know more of what I want from my main guitar and setup. I am mainly a Strat guy - plus some other Delta-inspired blues - and I love this guitar with some Jimi Hendrix-influenced sounds... wah-wah, univibe, fuzz and massive tones!
In this one I'm using
Bartel Starwood
Isle of Tone Haze 67 Fuzz
R Weaver FX Midnight Vibe
Xotic Wah
Great Eastern FX Design-a-Drive

Good stuff. I think the biggest contributor to your growth as a guitar player has been the time you’ve devoted to improving-obvious, I know. But I also think there’s something to be said for the impact of great gear; I have a cheap Blackstar amp and a Squier that chokes out above the 12th fret, but I never play them because they just don’t sound good. I play the best gear I have because it sounds better.

@@RealROCKnROLLAEvery guitar can be unique and PRS can have this “sterile” way with people anyway. I have core, WL & Private Stock. I do like them very much but also totally get why many don’t gel with PRS. PRS wiring doesn’t do them any favours in my opinion. I’ve had Matt at Monty’s work on all my PRS’s for 50’s wiring to open up the tone a little and get the guitars output less middy/compressed and get some more texture to the PRS tone. I swear the PRS pickups have more to give than they come out of the factory due to the companies particular wiring techniques. My Lunar Ice Silver Sky was too mid range heavy and to be honest most of the SS’s I have tried never really sounded or vibed like a Fender CS Strat to me. I preferred the maple neck variant of the Silver Sky but ultimately I let go of it as I much preferred the gritty slightly scooped nature of my Fenders. We often like different things and sometimes one guitar can sound like a dog in one persons hands and a marvel to the next. 🤷‍♂️

@@RealROCKnROLLA Yes, mine is from 23 and you can see it as well. They surprisingly added a capacitor on each pickup. Sounds wonderful. But most of all, it plays wonderful. No string tree needed because of the 3x3 tilt back, but it can still lay flat on the ground. No wobbly tremolo arm, always goes back to pitch perfectly, despite doing a lot of the extreme Hendrix dive bombs. And I love that it's nitro. Feels great and will age more graceful
