Yes, her retrofit is cool, but she trades out the Spats for the standard ZR. As much as I like ZR, it's bloody everywhere. The novelty of the Spats in her base skin is a refreshing sight.

Z23 or Nimi as I've gotten used to calling her, is my starter because she looked to be the most level headed out of all of them to me while keep a cool yet still cute style and her retrofit of having a shark guncannon is badass. She's been a mainstay for my fleet and is probably my most reliable unit whenever things got rough. I do have the rest of the starters and they've all been great but I think the sentimental value of Nimi being my starter made me favor her the most and I think that can be said with most people about their starter too.

That grinding part (4:05) made me smile because I already have retrofitted Ayanami, Laffey, Z23 and Javelin and also have Kaga and Akagi.

Yeah, that got a grin outta me too. I've only retroed Nimi and currently working on Ayaya, but I have survived the fox mines and came out with Kaga and Akagi and with most of my sanity intact. xD

Mizufluffy i got Kaga and Akagi within a day of unlocking 3-4 as i immediately began farming, it took some of my friends a week and one still doesn’t have Kaga.

Z1, Zee-23 and Z46 together for that triple destroyer frontline that will shred absolutely everything. Add Tirpitz and Graf (plus final carrier of your choice) to backline and you have yourself a glorious german engineering fleet that isn't just a meme anymore.

@@Hawk2zer0 irinblood have not many ships in total, the 3 Königsberg light cruiser (Königsberg, Köln, Karlsruhe) plus Leipzig (Leipzig class cruiser, she have one sister but not implemented: Nürnberg) The Deutschland class (Deutschland, Graf Spee, Admiral Scheer) Admiral Hipper class (Hipper, Blüchner, Eugen) Scharnhorst class (scharnhorst, Gneisenau) Bismarck class (Bismarck, Tirpitz) Z-clas (Z1, Z19-21, 23,35 and 46) And Graf Zeppelin

Zed was my starter on CN server, and part of why I love Azur Lane (i seemingly couldn't figure out how to change secretary ship back when i started lmao.) I freaked the heck out when I saw she was gonna get retro, and have her retro on CN and EN! i wuv her :3 good overview and memes, good vid

To be honest I never recognised that the name may seem edgy... I thought of it as an clever reference to Otto von Bismarcks quote on behave of uniting Germany. He said something along the lines of: "One can only unite the German people through Iron and Blood." (Of course he said it in german)

so did some math if you give ayanami max torp stat equipment it can go to 800 thats only the equipments and add the skills(that includes the same fleet with fubuki, and jintsuu) it can go to a max of 1600 torp stat for ayanami giving one face torp at a boss

Nice. I finished retroing her this morning. Was a long slog, but now I have all four of the Destroyers retroed. Jav, Ayaya, Z23, and Laffy.

Shes pretty op for solo farming. You can use her as an alt Portland or Pheonix

manjuu does spent quite some time to balance the starters in their retrofit. Since they notice that the player base where quite heavily attached to their starter, so they make rotrofit stats and skills for the starters so everyone could compete at the same level. also, given the bonus dmg of Cl guns against CL or DD targets comparing to the DD guns, if the enemy is light fleet focus, CL guns might do more dmg, else.... stick to the barrage with DD guns reload. Al actually have gun calibre& shell type against armour type modifier.

Z23 is my top waifu, I'm so happy I chose her as my starter! P. S I just found your channel and I sadly can't join your guild TwT

You didn't mention how Z23 can take advantage of her big sister's Z1's buffs (an issue I've noticed in a few videos, lack of synergy mentions), which are quite useful for her (FP+evasion). And that gold 100mm gun is better off on a torp DD (might want to look into a gun with HE.

Belfast gun and Double 100mm would do the same damage overall, considering the higher FP Bonus of the Belfast gun. But the 100mm is used to trigger her barrage more often

How about adding Foxhound to the list? Her retrofit is being released tomorrow with the Visitors Dyed in Red rerun and I want to know your thoughts. Maybe Cygnet too if possible.

I've noticed this in a couple videos, but why the twin toolkits? The healing buff doesn't stack, so wouldn't it be better to get some other utility in there?

the +1000 health is the only reason I stack toolkits. I could use Pearl Tears, but I'd put that on a ship that'd be more likely to sink first before her. It's a perference of mine, but that extra 1k health would give her a decent sized health pool.

Historically, German DDs were damn large and were borderline almost the size of CLs

One more closer to Atago and Takao

She actually had CL caliber guns irl which is 150mm

Combine with z1, tirpitz, and z46, it become an unstoppable mob fleet. I still use my "Z fleet" since i got my tirpitz. Also to mention that z1 actually have good torp stats

You forget to mention the Z fleet Z1 and Z46 make excellent partners in crime for z23. The extremely high buff from z1(40% fp and evasion) and high torpedo stats complement the weak stats of z23. meanwhile z46 with 2300 hp can tank a lot of damage, keeping the sky clean with her skill and don't forget the AP buff and her insane barrage that can compete with Z23 on dps

I did mention I haven't used the Germans much...so I couldn't give my thoughts on team comps (I made sure I said that at the beginning for a reason)

Idk about everyone else but I got Kaga and Akagi in hard mode... no more then 4 days. Not that I was aiming to farm them too. I needed the destroyer blueprints and repair tools. So 2 -foxes- birds with one stone

Wonder if you're going to do a Shoukaku review? Had her for a long time now and her aviation is brokenly strong

Just retrofitted z23 yesterday she was 100% worth it, I also oathed her when she got her oath skin so she's ultra good

wouldnt call the ironblood name edgy considering its based off otto van bismarks blood and iron speech, and said speech quite heavily influenced most austrian cultures hence why its used as the name for the KMS fleet.

I've just retrofitted her yesterday, am so happy :>

CL firepower with the base mobility of a DD has been a VERY effective combo for me

Reading up on the starters, I picked Z23, not disappointed. I prefer Ironblood design over the other factions. Supreme irony is I only started playing during Schero of Iron and Blood so I missed Divergent Chessboard and a lot of Ironblood ships that are considered, "Must Haves"

I like to see some Big Tsundere Seven Action, make a video to the nelson please

i think the thing compared from CL guns and DD guns is that CL guns have better survace cover, speak are better for clearing out trash while DD guns are great for procing EX barage and very good for single target dps

Is that "crawling in my skin" I hear there? 🤔 Can't wait for the Deutschland video.

z-23 is my starter pick, and she's been my mvp in every fights she's been. I run her with cl guns though. I've seen her out damage the rest of the party on a regular basis with that setup. I'm still noob though since I only started playing last week. but right now she's my top ship by a long shot.

Also talk about Helena: my team got trounced by a Helena in Exercise. Like holy shit! Her evaded is the best I ever seen for a Helena, I kill everyone else but her(Enty,Amagi,Akagi,Laffey Kai, Azanami Kai) and lose my whole Vanguard before I can even make her down halfway. She decimated my Support:Amagi,Akagi and Shoukaku like they're nothing

never really cared about grinding kaga or Akagi back when I still had Shinano (My OG AL account got lost) as well as the later times, I just went to 3-4 because it had the most efficient daily to get wisdom cubes.

Laffey, Z23, and Ayanami are a nasty trio...especially when all are retrofitted and they all proc their retro skill...

Italian event gave new top tier dd gun, give to z23 for melt enemy mode

Combined with Z1 and Graf Zeppelin she gains a 40% boost to firepower and evasion and 15% damage reduction. It's pretty nice.

What you need to do with Nimi-chan is: Put her with Z1, and then Graf mama. Then you just basically decimated everything at lv 100, even the Kizuna Ai special node.

Got Akagi and two Kagas in half of the day. i think all my luck for this year was spent...

I got Kaga dupe and my Akagi today (Dec. 7 2021) So I'm free to finally go after blueprints It'll be awhile before I hunt down Bunker Hill or Maya, or doggo*

i like her retrofit but i choose the Philosophy Sensei or the maid outfit instead

The z23 sensei outfit is beautiful, she looks almost like a real teacher Edit:she looks like a teacher(thickness level9999)

Damages doesn't seem to be linear in this game so when you put cl gun she hit way harder going from 60-80 Damages per shot to 300-400per shot plus since its cl guns she doesn't lose as much Damages against armor. Don't know if its worth though

the damage on the gun...is only part of the actual damage formula. There's other parts from level differences, to weapon modifier, to armor ,etc that also make up part of the formula. It's a bit surprising how all of that works together in that formula.

Her Dps is Preety good with Gold Twin 100mm (Type 98) AA Gun. lvl 8 equals 0.85 per second

Underappreciated unit. Least amount of art out of the starters but that's probably because she's the unlock in JP, instead of Ayanami. I still prefer Laffey over her in the end because Laffey can spam her torpedos to better deal with heavy armor units.

best waifu starter in Azur Lane and the best powercreep german engineering destroyer in World of Warships and btw i already oath him to increase his boost.

Imagine Laffey is like an assault rifle (M16 and stuff) and Z23 is an automatic rifles (Mini14).1 one that shoot fast and 1 shoot slower but higher damage.

The Chinese already tested it. Z23 has higher DPS using destroyer guns. Her best gun choice is 127mm MK12 just like Laffey.

DD gun dps > CL gun dps in this game. And the best DD gun is not yet added in EN service, it’s “Mel1929” from French navy. If you guys having this event, you can get this gun for reward, and you can also get this gun by farming. Just try you best on getting one more, I am so regret not to do so because this gun is god damn powerful.

My z23 was the most of mvp of battles. But since my Kawakaze at level 116 and z23 at 120 , Kawakaze gets the most mvp. alright she is worst of IJN fleet. But since i tried her in my fleet , she is not that bad. its great to use her together with ayanami. I dont know what makes she gets the mvp , with her poor stats

Her, Javelin, and Laffey are all elite drops from Ch.2 onward. So You can get them pretty easily as a drop.

Not only the name Iron Blood is edgy, plenty of the good ships under that banner share that edginess. (aside from the lower rarity ones ...wich I happened to sacrifice by the hundreds to enhance other ships...So I didn't get to know them much.) Not Z23, wich is good. And spats. (I like Z35 more though...If only she had retro for her to be able to compete with starters DD T.T ) Also F for these poor ships wich are only remembered by their numbers since no proper names were given to them, wich leads to our nowadays shipfus to feel like undesired childs. These poor Iron Blood lolis deserve our love just for that! Oh, and Roon best Iron Blood shipfu. Fite me.

I haven't had the chance to level her...I usually stick people that are retrofittable in the dorm so that they can get their levels up for the retrofits.... I should also mention I'm aiming to retrofit them all (down to 4 now with Bailey finished)
