Also, I think that one thing Hasbro did really well for this campaign was saying "Hey, next year, TVC is going to have Tattooine Figures that make sense with the cantina" in the announcement. Just reassuring everyone that, even if they arent in the initial package, that other tvc things will be coming to flesh out that display i think helped more than waiting until the last week like the Giant Man campaign

I see your point on 3D printing. But consider that you can get a really good 3D printer for $500. I got into 3D printing last year and haven’t done any 3D modeling, I just use designs from the very talented artists in the community. You might sacrifice some detail in a 3D printed piece as well as additional post processing time, but now you can print an Endor or Hoth diorama. All for maybe a few spools of $20 filament. To me that’s totally worth it. I don’t need crazy high detail to convey the cantina.

Thats the point. I know thats not 'legal' and such but a friend of mine is printing Warhammer 40k and many other things like crazy for himself. He even did 'upscaled' version by himself of some MOTU Figures. You can get a decend printer for 500$ and you don't need to know anything about '3d modeling' - You can just download the files from the community and print your own stuff - Like the Cantina.

I 3D print too. I have printed out great deal of Transformer sets and I love my sets so much. So much fun. I support Patreon, Funbie Studios for about $5 month for it. Printers have gotten better over last couple of years. Personally I'm surprised we haven't seen more playsets as STL files to print like for TMNT, Voltron castle of Lions, Thundercats, etc. I've not looked for them personally but be cool. I do see the value in HasLab Cantina. The amount of time to print, paint and also the fine details like glasses.

It's a cool set though I can't help but think that there was a point where this would have been a collect and build diorama type deal. Figures coming with booths or the bar in a 4 pack. Not a vintage criticism, but one of my issues with BS has been the articulation changes. Step forwards and steps back. I'll never get over that they made the Mandalorian Armorer unable to do her signature kneeling pose thanks to the single jointed knees. Marvel Legends had been bothering me for a while but it seems like they're starting to step up. I don't know if Star Wars due for an upswing or if hindered by the Disney release schedule and IP restrictions. Marvel can dip into obscure or interesting characters but I don't see star wars doing a lot of EU. I'd love some Legacy figures like Cade or new jedi era like Darth Cadeus or historic characters like Exar Kun

Don’t worry about filling out the cantina. I guarantee, GUARANTEE, if the cantina gets funded Hasbro will start trickling out the cantina patrons in future figure assortments because it’ll be easy money. Some of the major, popular characters they’ll remake from the ground up, and others they’ll just reprint and put into smaller sets of 4-6 patrons. There’s precedent of Hasbro doing this. With Galactus they rereleased Tarrax with a new Fallen One, and with Giant Man they made a brand new Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne set up, and most similarly, we’ve seen various releases to go along with Jabba’s Sail Barge over the last several years. If the Cantina funds, the patrons will be easy money for them.

Those are mostly the people who weren't collecting when the released cantina figures came out or were focused on making armies of stormtroopers and clones at the time. (All of which are outdated molds now by "standards" set by collectors). Most people didn't collect 'em all. Also, I got huge fomo for the Ghost when I happened to see the Razorcrest and Jabba’s sail barge in person. Just beautifully detailed ships with so much presence. I think the Cantina should have been released in parts as retail items. Each piece could have included a new figure. I think Haslab should be focused on vehicles. My dream Haslab is a huge Sandcrawler. As it is, I really don’t see the value in the Cantina, I’m passing on it. The only part that hurts is missing out on the figures.

I agree that the stretch goals bum me out because I just want those figures. And for $500 cool ones, I wish there was more ‘play-ability’ with this set. From the pictures and things, it looks pretty stiff and bland. It’s a few notches above cardboard playset. I would’ve loved to see things like secret doors or other things to give it a PLAYset feel. Different brand but I’m a little bummed by my Super7 turtle van because it lacks any real play features. It’s like 95% perfect to me, but it’s lacking that function that makes it feel like something I MUST play with. Like it just sits on my shelf and collects dust. Looks pretty. But I don’t want to get on the floor and play with it like I do with a Jurassic Park toy or my original turtle van. Vintage SW play sets and vehicles always had play features and I wish they’d bring that back. But hey, maybe I’m the outlier on this

As someone who also skipped the Ghost (but has zero FOMO about it) I'm excited for this one. It's overpriced for a modular playset. If they had made it a fold-out set where pieces could be pulled off and plays however you want but ultimately it all connects, I think it would have felt more like a thing versus a bunch of disconnected things. I know collectors like to joke about the number of cups and how much of a big deal they made about that but that isn't the central issue. It's really just the fact that it's such a disconnected bunch of things that I don't think people are bridging the Gap in their minds that this thing is worth $500.

I think this one is struggling primarily due to the bonus tiers - other than an exclusive piece of cardboard there is no incentive there. These will almost assuredly be released at a later date, in another pkg. IMO they should have rethought the bonuses.

From within the 3.25 inch star wars community there are custom diorama buildings that can be $300 but their unique, painted and sculpted with multiple elements and lighting. Granted its not a scene from the movies. But I kind of prefer the originality. The Cantina is a bit of an old trope, and it looks like a dated toy because they have made smaller sets like it before.

Great video! I can't back this with all the other crowdfunds going on now and the prospect of a GI Joe HasLab. It will fund, but I don't think it will hit the other tiers. I'm not sure why they chose a giant, bland playset when all the other successful HasLabs have been vehicles. They should have gone with The Imperial Shuttle, or something.

The problem with Haslabs is that we are still treated as the consumer and are paying retail instead of being treated like the retailer. If this went to retail, Wal-Mart would need to buy 20,000 sets and they would not be selling it for $799 they would be selling it for the $399 while buying them for around $180 a pop. 20,000 x$180= $3.6 Million. Haslab needs 8,000 sets bought to cover the costs which is essentially the retail buy in 8,000 x 400= $3,200,000 which covers all costs and anything over the 8k sells is profit and much more profit then they would make a retail. And every sell is a guarantee sell which is a shame why Haslab over charges us by so much. The regular Cantina should of been $350 with all 6 figures included as bonuses no matter if we hit the goal or not plus an extra 3 figure add on pack of cantina patrons in a special action figure 3 pack box set for $49 to make the $399 price tag- 450 for the "complete" cantina and $499 with all 9 figures included (Special Action figure set would include: walrus man (reissued), dr. Everzan (sp?) (reissued) and hammerhead (new Sculpt) so we have plenty of characters to inhabit the bar when we get it

@@ondrejm5042 I don't know but if Walmart has over 4,000 locations and target has nearly 2,000 from just those two big box stores you can assume at least 24,000 total units would be produced and that is only 4 set per store... Look at the Barbie dream house during Christmas in the 2010s- every Walmart had at least 12 of them so that's like a production run of at least 50k for only Walmart every year and that cheap unpainted plastic house that kept getting reissued year after year with minor differences went for like $129/$149.

People today don't understand the cost of things. For a limited release like this it's going to cost more than a standard mass production release because the companies don't get a large discount on buying tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of units. They also don't want to sell to stores because then they have to take into consideration shelf space of something so expensive. Toy R' Us here will only bring in so many Titan figures for instance, normally two to four and that's it. They take the room multiple figures could use and they're expensive so they stay on the shelf longer.

No yet. I could have the funds but im not convinced on the offer. I have a LEGO UCS cantina which has even outer walls and a nearby building and vehicles still in box waiting to be build and displayed. I dont feel like i need to have it no matter what. And im not a big fan of preorder and wait a year to get your stuff. Also there is no good market for the 3.75" figures here in Europe. With lego i can get on BrickLink and order anything i need for a reasonable price and there are tons of sellers from Europe, even from my country. Maybe if SW collecting had such a dedicated marketplace (not eBay, thats not like it) i would see more value in this thing. I also like the Nabrun and Arleil more that the Tonikas and for not its clear we wont get it. Ill wait for a possible better offer from Hasbro, if they come up with something worth the money ill back it, or if all of a sudden there is 17K backers and i would get all the figures with the purchase.

Great video brother! I agree (as a TBS collector) we haven't really shown up for the HasLabs, but I'd like to see them try the diorama/small playset angle for a TBS HasLab. Something that will fit in your typical bookshelf or Detolf shelf. Some modularity would help and could even be included as stretch goals. Original, new sculpt, deep cut figures that wouldn't really do well in the mainline retail spaces would be great too. There's still some options once Hasbro gets over being gun-shy about TBS HasLabs. BTW - loved going back in time to the old vehicles video!!!

I agree, I think there is definitely a way to have dioramas for TBS. Rather than a whole ship why not just give us a highly detailed cockpit, I have seen some custom Millennium Falcon cockpits that look amazing or you could do that center area with the seating and the Dejarik table. Even some nice hallways with lighting of Tantive or Death Star. Jedi Council room maybe? Like you said, keep it around the size of a bookshelf or detolf and they are golden.

The set should have been pushed for about 350 and all the figures should be non-exclusive offerings. Using the sisters and bartender as bait is total BS.
