That paint set looks truly gruesome, but your painting is absolutely gorgeous!

You can reactivate the jelly gouache, you don't have to let dry up like that. You just gotta fill each cup with water to a little above the gouache in the cup, let it soak for a day or so then check to see if it can be stirred a little, stir as much as you can and then, add more water, as much as you think you might need, I eyeball the consistency and usually afted 2 days of soaking and stirring the gouache you can bring it back to life but it might take an extra day with how dried up your set looks, not sure. Also thr smaller himi sets don't come with a foam piece on the lid like their 50ish color set does, so the bigger set stays wet way longer

Wow your advice is great!! thank you so much I will try that out!! I am super interested in getting the 50 set so I’m glad to hear the lid is designed better 😊

@@carolynpaints i adore my big set, got it last year and still haven't run out! I do reactivate it from time to time. The fact you can still create that beautiful of a piece even with it all dried out is also a testament to the quality. It may be "student grade" but I think out of all the student grade gouache I've tried, this is the best (Arteza claims to be professional, but if that is truly student grade, then Arteza would be the best around, bc i get even better blending with Arteza gouache) but Arteza gouache cannot be purchased in single colors, and I believe himi can, just forget where exactly you can get single colors because I have yet to even need to purchase single color cups from himi

Wow I’ll have to try our Arteza too when I can! They look like great paints. Thank you so much for your advice/wisdom with gouache ☺️

Great painting! I actually prefer using my himi gouache from this dried state. I feel like I get smoother lay down. Thanks for the video. Happy painting!

I love this review. Your paint looks genuinely used and well loved. A lot of others just posted a vid getting their paint back to its original texture but it didn't look like they'd been used much. Not only that but you show how to use it properly.. your coours aren't laying down super streaky cus you are taking the time to layer and the result is amazing. Just wow. Thank you

Very nice painting! Someone either in another video or on a message board found a way to keep the gouache workable -after every use, spray with water and put entire container in a plastic sleeve. I found plastic envelopes at Dollar Tree and it seems to work. If you use the paint somewhat regularly, it should work fantastically. I use mine only occasionally and it takes a lot less effort to rehydrate them now

@@carolynpaints I don’t know much about Monet paintings. Are there any tips you can give about this particular painting you did?

This painting is of Monet’s garden in Giverny (Monet lived here for a time while he created a lot of his artwork). This piece is not inspired by a particular Monet painting but I really do enjoy his work so I like to paint similar landscapes that he worked with. I also like to use gouache in a looser/more impressionist style like Monet 😊

the purpose of the box is to keep them from drying. You need to keep the moisture up. You don't know what you are doing.

have you ever used this set before? The box is not air tight. This is a common complaint when using Miya Himi gouache for a long period of time. Even with the gouache dried out it still works great! 😊

@@carolynpaints water will always evaporate while the lid is open,(being used) so you'll always have to add water and rehydrate the paints. It's not the box.

I mean your comment sounds very rude, there's better ways to say things. My set is 2 years old and it's as wet as it was when I bought it. And I spend months at a time without painting with it. What do I do? When I use it, I spray water before closing it, I store it inside a ziplock bag so oxygen doesn't get in as much as if it was sitting outside. And whenever I remember, I try to spritz some water to keep the moisture up. I store my watercolor and gouache tubes inside ziplock bags as well to avoid them drying up.
