@@Hendricus56 Nope, Horny Maru was CV-8. It may have carried over to CV-12, but CV-8 did it first.

I have many memories of Hornet. She was one of my first carriers in the game. She took me all the way to world 12, one of the first shipgirls I oathed, she was the first one in my Yorktown-carrier fleet and I still run that fleet once in a while now, she was in the first fleet to be deployed in OpSiren, the first one I decided to make level 125, the one who made me buy gems for the first time because of that pizza skin, and the one responsible for crashing my PS4 several times because she proc all those air strikes. I even remembered she out DPS Enterprise several times when she proc her skills, which is surprising considering I was using the exact same gear on both of them. Overall, love Hornet and can’t get enough of her.

im thinking of oathing her since I oathed Enterprise, i want to oath the Yorktown class but im broke in gems lol

I had a family member serve as Hornet's CAG at Santa Cruz, so I loved getting Hornet in game, she has since been oathed and was my first USN elite carrier to 120. She's also been one of my Valentines ships, and a go to pick when I decide to do an all EU run for OpSci. I really hope to see a Pacific theatre for OpSci in the future, that'd be fun to do. Also hope to have an EU healer better than Arizona.

@@Hawk2zer0 Same reason I intend to get her in WoWs when available, despite being trash at CVs. Hopefully WG doesn't manage to drive me away before then though.

Also experienced this in Crosswave, the amount planes she releases in that game... I was like: WHAT THE @#$!... That was the first game I've played before going to Azur Lane Mobile...

Facts Time: CV-8 USS Hornet, as One would Know is the Youngest of the Yorktown Sisters, her Nicknames where Fighting Lady, Happy Hornet, hence why she's quite Joyous and has a Can Do Attitude, and of Course, everyone's Favorite; Horny Maru. Stats Wise, Her Low Aviation is maybe Attributed to Her Contribution in Midway, As Her Squadrons of Torpedo Bombers and Dive Bombers are Literally Shot up to Hell, when Attacking the 4 Carriers and Their Escort Fleet of the Kido Butai, Hence why Torp Bomber and Dive Bomber Efficiency on Her is Lower that Usual. The Assault Carrier Ability can Also be Attributed to This, because regardless of The Losses, Her Aircraft and Pilots Kept Fighting, they Kept Bringing the Fight to the Enemy, until the Intervention of Enterprise's Air Group, the Famed McClusky Squadron. Her other Ability, Doolittle Raid is Attributed to Her Carrying out a Daring Assault on Mainland Japan, by Launching B-25 Mitchell Bombers, of which They're the First to Strike at the Supposed Untouchable Capital of Tokyo, hence why the Bomber is Off Screen, symbolizing that it Passes Enemy AA Defenses and Deliver its Payload. In Terms of Evasion its what to be Expected from Back Liner, they're not that Fast, especially for Large Ships like Her, but I think Her Low Evasion is Attributed to Her Fate at The Santa Cruz Islands, where She was Torpedoes Several Times, losing Electrical and Engine Power in The Process, the Crew Actually managed to Repair it, but was Once again or were on the Verge of Getting the Power Back when another Torpedo Attack Came... And this was the Final Nail on the Coffin. USS Northampton, before Hornets Demise, was Ordered to Tow Her out of Battle, at a Blistering Speed of 5 Knots, the Closeness of Northampton and Hornet In Game is Attributed to This, as Northampton Stayed by Hornets Side, until Her Last Moments... And the Inevitable Order to Scuttle Her... Back in the Early Days of Azur Lane, there was an Official Art Work that Featured Hornet and Northampton during these Moments, one During the Torpedo attack that Led to Hornet's Demise, and the Other is Northampton Cradling a Severely Damaged and Passed on Hornet... Shit got me Misty Eyes yo... Lastly, the Scuttling Efforts were not Successful, Torpedo and Gun Fire weren't Enough to Sink Her, but before further Scuttling can Proceed, the Japanese Surface Force, that was already Know to be Coming into the Area, arrived, this Said Force was what Forced the USN to Abandoned Hornet and Have Her Sunk, in the First Place... Hornet was soon Sunk by 4 Long Lance or 610mm Torpedoes, which led to Hornet Finally Sinking. However Her Legacy Lives on or She Lives on as a Carrier Part of the Essex Class, and CV-12 Hornet is Currently a Museum Ship. CV-8 Hornet Earned 4 Medals and 4 Battle Stars in Her 1 Year and 6 Days of Service with the USN... The Wreck of the Original CV-8 Hornet was Discovered Last January 2019. Hornet is the First Ship, well Second Back Liner I Have that Reached Affinity 100, back in my Early, 3 if you count my Other First 2, which is Laffey and Long Island Respectively. Hornet may not have anything Flashy or Anything that Catches ones eye at First Glance, but She's Certainly a Girl you can Rely on... Fact: Big Wasp is her Chinese name. I'd say last but not least. Another reminder that Crosswave is hilariously jank, likewise with early EN's translation. I can't say she'd keep up considering Shangri-La is basically a Hornet + 1-2. The biggest thing that hurts her is the lol triple 125% plane efficiency. A retrofit would do wonders. Her Dolittle skill is still pretty strong (and unstoppable by W13+'s AA Boats. It's fitting that a gacha purple has Raid carrier than an event gold (poor Vicky) In terms of Waifu, still up there though overshadowed by her KC counterpart (rarity bias in AL is real).

Given I had the great luck to catch Shangri-La really early (my first SR ship, I started about a year ago) I never really bothered with Hornet. 70% B-25 really go brrrrrr. Is there any aspect of Hornet that stands out that S-L doesn't eclipse?

@@the_tactician9858 Something I'm not a fan of. That Shangri-La has a higher chance to launch a Doolittle Airstrike than the actual ship which launched it. Sure, the name was connected to it as a cover up, but Hornet should have the honour of dominating with B25s

@@Hendricus56 Fair point, but it would be weird to have a epic carrier be better than an ssr. The only way around that is letting Hornet be the ssr, and bump S-L to epic, but that would be weird considering the Essex class were much better even though they saw less combat.

I'm looking forwards to leveling her up now. I understand she might not be anything that special in the game stat's wise but she obviously is a fan favourite for some folks.

Yes, time for my weekly dose of “counterpart”! =] I got Hornet a lot later than I would’ve liked, so I never gave her much of a chance. She looks like fun, though. Now that you’re Mr. Lore, have you considered going in that direction a little more in these videos? I think there’s a ton of value in you going over their skills and strengths and weaknesses, but if a quicker overview of the numbers made it possible to fit something in about their personalities, I’d vote for that. Also why does that B-25’s shadow have four engines…?

If Reload is a problem, you can give Hornet a Homing Beacon from core data (although double catapults are far better) or pick a Light Carrier. Independence (who is in core data) and Bataan (who is event-locked). Both has the highest reload of all carriers (which Independence gets after her SR retro).

Care to explain how 2 gold catapults are better than a Homing Beacon? No offense meant, just curious I've been using 1 gold cata and a Homing on my carriers. And I'm always keen on getting gud in the game. Edited for typos

@@tsubakiharayuuji stats my guy. At max, beacon only gives 65 spare aviation. One gold catapult (at +13) gives 118. More aviation stat equals more damage for your CVs.

While she's not part of my 2 main fleets and she isn't the best carrier, I still love my Hornet. Not gonna retire her and I'm still using her. Horni is one of the first ships I've ever pulled and I got her at lvl 117. Also she could do with more skins

Should be gear. Quintuple torpedos usually have one torpedo that goes straight forward.
