First theory of this game: I think that, with the symbolism on the logo, the main boss monster(s) will be snake wyverns, and that this game is going to pull a fanged wyverns and revamp the snake wyvern classification, that might be a crackpot theory but I'm confident in it

I don't think the logo has anything to do with the final boss or any monster aside from maybe the game's bigger theme being about circles or cycles. One day we'll get MH7 and then there'll be 7 more generic monster heads in it and there won't be any connection to a direct monster either.

Im so happy they did not double down on the super generic 'anime fighting game' aesthetic of Rise. instead we're getting more of that World flavor with rich ecosystems and immersion. I like that the footage focuses on the environment and its creatures, and speaking of which small monstes/herbivores look to be a bit more interactive as they can stampede now. Other aspects like the new mount, hazardous weather its all so amazing and we haven't even seen the combat yet.

Honestly, I'm far more inclined to believe Wilds is taking cues from Sub-Saharan Africa, for several reasons: -Along with the pangolin herbivores, I've noticed that the Kestodon-esq herbivores seem to take cues from wildebeest, noting the head profile and beards as well as the horns taking inspiration from black wildebeest especially. -The fact that the trees are clearly acacia trees were an automatic giveaway, environmentally speaking, coupled with the fact that Sub-Saharan Africa has its own share of arid/xeric environments such as the Kalahari Desert. -I was pointed out that the fanged beasts seem to take inspiration from traditional African masks, which are known to use bold colors like red as well as materials such as straw or animal hair. -While it is true that Asian dragons tend to be serpentine in appearance, that also applies with dragons from African folklore, such as Ninki Nanka and the Grootslang. All in all, there's a lot more evidence leaning towards an African setting than Eastern/Central Asia. The Wild West motif, however is up in the air for the time being.

I have somewhat the suspicious that instead of west this one's exploring the eastern continent fonlon. It explains the man-made lightning rods because Fonlon is where one of the more well known ancient civilizations lived, specifically the one civilization that made the tower. Additionally, Fonlon is very unexplored. There's only two locales on that continent, neither have made a full return in years. Those being the Great Forest and the Tower. The rest of the continent is outside the borders of the old world map, which leaves a lot of possibilities to what could be beyond.

I think you're probably onto something with central Asia. Velociraptor, the best known raptor and a poster child for changing perception of dinosaurs (change from sluggish-active in the past and scaly-feathery now) lived in Mongolia. As well, those little Kestodon creatures we see look like Protoceratops to me, a contemporary of Velociraptor who also lived in Central Asia and is best known from "the Fighting Dinosaurs", a fossil that preserved a Protoceratops and Velociraptor locked in combat.

I'd love a system where you just signal flare whenever you find something to hunt and need backup for instead of necessarily taking on quests (at least for the first half of the game). The mount looks amazing. I loved the detail of it going down on all fours when it was time to sprint. I also hope we see multiple kinds of mount tho. One thing I Rise did indisputably well was give us the palamute. I don't care if they never pick up a weapon again I just want to see more animal friends. @@perseusdeme yes, yes it is, coming from someone who started with FU, it absolutely is. Ur believability complain is incredibly ignorant especially since we’ve been swinging “weapons” the size of cars with weeb movesets since forever. U saying that Rise is like Wild Hearts is also stupidly ignorant since Rise came first, so no, Rise isn’t like Wild Hearts, Wild Hearts is like Rise, which really isn’t the case if u played the games but whatever makes u happy. Now that last point of urs tells me just how delusional u r, it’s for the sake of the portable games that the series got to World, all the portable games sold better and were received better than their mainline counterparts prior to world, and parts of those portable games that got added onto the next mainline games were praised, for instance the movesets of world weapons were influenced the most by G/GU’s, portable games have gimmicks which parts from are taken and refined for the next mainline game, the Wilds teaser trailer already showed us that, a mount? Checked. Huge zones? Checked. Rise/Sunbreak monsters skeletons? Checked. Amplified traversable landscape? Checked. U know damn well that they’ll take elements from Rise and add them on top of the existing World frame and it’ll be amazing, so no, I’ll completely disagree with that absurd point of urs, it’s all thanks to the portable titles that we got here, and hey, it’s not like Capcom would give a flying fuck about ur baseless complains in regards to their Magnus Opus when they’ve been at it for as long as they have and what they’ve done has proven more than successful…ffs why bother spewing nonsense when u know damn well ur issues are trivial and rooted in ignorance? I think the general setting will be further into the new world, perhaps north? The inclusion of rocky areas mixed with deserts definitely gives me that vibe, but we also see a Savannah being formed out of nowhere, making me think that the environment will periodically change or the changes may be influenced by the player. One day it’s a barren desert, the other it’s a Savannah and another it’s a jungle. With the environment changing we would also see new monsters migrating into it, like the Rathalos in the trailer. Here's my theories on this: The lightning rods may be built by some new locals comparable to the gajalaka in world. The bear things are probably closely related to goss harag, but definitely not a subspecies. We may see "medium monsters" finally become a true thing, because those bears look too big and strong to be small monsters, but no way we have to fight that many large monsters, no way. The lightning rods may have some materials from the armadillo things, because they look similar and the armadillos are shown to attract electricity. I feel like the game may take place further north in the new world, or an unexplored area on the same island/continent as the hoarfrost reach. Another option is further east in the continent with stuff like the ancient steppe and the tower. I don't remember the continent's name, so please inform me if you remember. The mount may be related to the forest pteryx endemic life in the ancient forest, with both having colorful feathers and strong forelimbs suitable for climbing and gliding. The huge rock formation at the end of the trailer looks a bit unnatural, so maybe it was created or built as a nest by some creature, similar to the huge crystal in the elder's recess. Finally, the super hostile weather may be created by some creature, due it being so extreme. Like when have you seen that much lightning in one area without it being created by some monster? That's it. A lot of those a probably wrong, but isn't that the point of theories? That they aren't always right? That's my theories, my GAME THEORIES!

My bet is, given the new mount that can at least glide + focus on weather/storms + white space in the sky + 2 serpent dragons on the logo, there'll be long flying dragons, like chinese dragons or the ones in breath of the wild. Also, based on the wooly monsters + the idea of big flying monsters + a new airborne mount, i'm guessing you will be able to climb monsters, dragon's dogma style.

I wonder if they'll make it so you can bring two weapon types into the field with you, and make it so you can only switch them out when you get to an outpost somewhere. I love the idea of forcing the hunter to rough it in long stretches where you are at the mercy of the wilderness and need to be mindful of your resources, bringing back some of that collection/survival aspect that we were kinda spoiled out of in World and Rise. Love that Scoutflies are staying a thing, they could definitely be repurposed as a way to navigate to nearby populations of monsters, sources of plants, ores, and honey without becoming a crutch, as the relentless ambush predators would definitely scare them back into hiding.

Instead I think we’ll have our camp on our mount and will be able to take it around with us. I also think they’re going to blend old world camps and new world camps together. I don’t think we’ll have access to every single item we own, instead we’ll be able to bring two item sets and two equipment sets with us when we go out, so we’re still more flexible however we don’t have an infinite amount.

I really like your MH Dos review and How MH lost its own genre video. It’s such a shame not everyone likes that game’s level of immersion and grounded take on a hunting simulator. I’m hoping that with MH6/Wilds/World2, they include some of those old ideas and slightly streamline it a bit just so it doesn’t turn off most of the series’ fans, esp. those who started with 5th gen. But what are your thoughts about the upcoming game incorporating multiple endings, or more specifically positive/negative consequences of the hunter’s actions? An MH game where what you slay/capture/repel determines what your ending will be (ie. think of Undertale's genocide vs. pacifist run but with MH gameplay, or Witcher 3's branching storylines specifically the Bloody Baron arc where whatever Geralt kills/spares/avoids would really shape how the story would progress). Think of MH4U when it was found out that the reason why Seregios started moving out of their known territory was because of a frenzied one wreaking havoc in their habitat of origin, or when the 5th fleet hunter defeated Nergigante, and now more elder dragons start showing up. Make it so that these types of events happen due to the hunter’s actions within the game but this time, the player has agency whether he would do such a quest or not. Since MHW's Research Commission has been preaching about being one with nature (but in reality was killing everything in sight), this time, they really double down on this and actually become stewards of the ecosystem. You as the hunter still function as one the Guild's many hands but it is up to you which quests to accept and decline. Throughout many MH games, a lot of the quests aren't really about someone/something being in danger, but just kill this because I want it dead, or kill this because I need to get something off it to make a ridiculous thing that will make me more money than what I'm paying you. Assignments/key quests/story quests may expire, depending on other quests you took beforehand, giving it urgency or serious decision-making whether you take one quest or another. At certain points in the game, you're presented with the option to take a morally/nature-responsible quest with conservative rewards or take a questionable/greed(ish)-fueled quest that gives more substantial rewards. This sets you up on what ending you’ll get (and even which boss you’ll fight; the black or white serpent/dragon/wyvern). This in turn will extend to your entire end game where depending on the story path you took, you will have a different set of end game quests/monsters if you got ending A, and similarly, a different batch of the same, if you got ending B. You'll really have to "commit" to all your hunts because it will determine the end game gear you can obtain (again, because of the monsters only available to you on your end game). Upon getting to end game HR/MR/GR, the hunters who got one ending may still join the endgame multiplayer quests of hunters who got the opposite ending but will only get generic rewards/monster parts instead of its specific materials. This also potentially massively extends the game's lifespan even without a lot of updates as players may want to try out another ending path from what they got originally. I posted this on Reddit but got downoted to hell. Ha! Maybe here too...

Im so excited for this! I was watching with a hopes of anything MH related and was blown away to watch this trailer live on the game awards! Its everything i wanted from Monster Hunter... A focus on enviroment, what seems to be new ways to hunt, impactfull weather, a vast, deep and alive open world and most important of all: breaking away from the formula that we have been stuck to since the PS2 days. I am in love with the work Capcom just presented to us.

I am so ecstatic that Monster Hunter 6 was finally announced, now called Monster Hunter Wilds. It looks amazing, a mix of MH World and Rise with its art direction, looking like it uses Capcoms new REX Engine (a heavily upgraded version of RE Engine, made specifically for the current gen consoles). It is a shame it's not coming out next year though 😭😭😭 I hope character creation is as good as Balder's Gate 3 In addition, i hope it has randomised environmental events in the maps that drastically affects abd changes the gameplay experience, like a violent tropical storm in a rainforest map, for example, that affects both parties but is biased in favor of the monsters, rather than the player.

Great opportunity to make the series further improve upon the actual tracking aspect of hunting. So far, only World has ever bothered with attempting to make tracking an actual mechanic in the entire series. Ideally for me. Clues would be constantly and regularly created by large monsters on the map outside of combat. Each monster would have its own set of clues unique to them. We can highlight these clues by approaching then, crouching, and holding CIRCLE (or its equivalent in other consoles/PC) for 5 seconds. This would then highlight the specific monster's clues within a 10 meter radius. However, not approaching new clues after 10 seconds would deactivate the highlighting. With this system, new players can use the highlighting mechanic, while experienced players can just visually analyze the clues and with their knowledge of the target monster interpolate the data and intercept it without highlighting. Scout flies can be a completely optional mid-game unlockable and upgradeable equipment. But you can only use the rarer clues a monster leaves to train the scoutflies on them (Anjanath mucus rather than its footprints, for example).

I don't think serpent dragons are immediately eastern (although it is the strongest association). I do believe both Africa and indigenous America have serpent-like dragons. There are some other cultures that also have serpent-like dragons. I am not an expert so you should do your own research for better information, but serpent dragons were not exclusive to Asia (Jörmungandr, Quetzalcoatl, and the Hydra are all mythological creatures you could consider serpent-like dragons). The origin of the word dragon is most closely tied to the greek drakon, which is a serpent. I do think Asia could be a cool setting, but I believe relagating the serpents in the symbol to Asia is limiting. I also think an an African themed place would be more interesting as I rarely see it in games or other media and a Monster Hunter take on their mythical creatures would be interesting. I will be happy no matter where it is set and am a lover of all dragons, so wheter it is themed around Asia, Africa, Americas, or any other geographic region, I will be content. Side note: My knowledge is limited and fallible, do not use me as an example, but as an inspiration to explore dragons more deeply. Research doesn't have to be boring when it is about dragons. I enjoyed the video and I hope you have a nice day.

I'm surprised you didn't say much about the possibility of having more than one weapon. On one hand, it would encourage players to master more than one weapon and tactically switch depending on the monster encountered. On the other hand, it'll make encounters significantly easier if you can just whip out the appropriate weapon. Also discourages mastering weapons enough to defeat even monsters they're relatively unsuited for.
