Great review on all the pads worth buying !!!!! I'm not surprised that you landed on those two, the Strike pro and the Roland Pro. They both seem top notch. I don't have either, but thinking about one of them. The Alesis is way cheaper. I mostly just want a stand alone set that is easy to carry to jams or gigs. In your opinion, is the cost worth it between the 2 ? Thanks ! :-)

hey man! Thanks! If you just want something to jam and use on gigs then the Alesis should work great actually! Lots of great instrument sounds, and can upload your own samples and it's easy. I wouldn't put 2 sounds (Wave A and Wave B) on one pad , just Wave A, cause you'll occasionally find some latency between the 2 voices. But it's a not a huge thing

just to come back on the yamaha multi 12 it's has 4 layers of samples per pad (not 2) connections include hh control and 5 triggers (unlike spdx) sample loading is via usb to the internal memory - (total 64mb) there's an ipad editor app for it to make it simpler - usb connection has a full general midi synth engine inside also sensitivity setting include use for hand and finger use - not just sticks it has aftertouch - you can mute drums/cymbals, tympani by pressing on the main 6 pads aftertouch can also change the pitch of a sound. is it perfect - no it does some rather cool stuff though.. i use mine mainly for hand percussion use not with sticks... but with my hands and fingers on the main 6 pads mostly as they are very sensitive the thinner top and bottom row of pads are less sensitive for hand use.. but ok for some stuff. i do have the yamaha kick pedal too i'd say the main downside is the u/i/ menu/display is not great and can be confusing/slow to edit though if you do hook up the ipad editor its SO much better an experience. lastly - the midi editing side is insane .. you can go nuts on midi editing for all sorts of stuff.

Yeah it has very good features for the price. Mind you I am mainly coming from the drummers perspective, so there is a lot I don’t touch on just focusing on what I used it for. And believe it or not, I actually found the IOS app really confusing, cause although the computer screen is far more intuitive than the module screen, you then have to transfer everything from the screen to the pad and it was extremely confusing for me. I ended up transferring the wrong kit once and then it went to the wrong place in the kit storage and it screwed everything up. But I’m glad you like it for you, it’s a Yamaha so there is no question its quality. It just wasn’t for me.

I really appreciated your channel. I am searching for a pad percussion pad too. I just tried the new Korg MPS 10, I was really disappointed by the trigger threshold and sensitivity and I sent it back. Now I am waiting for a Nord Drum 3P. What is the most sensitive pad you tried?

Thanks so much! I think the Nord looks really sensitive, I’ve been curious about it. However, I personally don’t like that you only have the option for a kick pedal and that counts as one of your 6 pads so you only get a kick and 5 pads and no sampling options which would be a little too limited for me. If you are only seeking good sensitive pads and don’t care too much about the sampling, you’d probably like the Octapad. But my favorite feel of the pads alone is the Alesis Strike Multipad. However, I never really attempted to use the pads together, so the Nord would probably be good for me in addition to another pad.

Excellent video!! Do you think that the SPD SX PRO has better pad sensitivity than the Alesis Strike Multipad? I have this Alesis and I use it connected to a Maschine MK3, so the sounds and sampling options are controlled from the MK3; I was thinking upgrade to the new Roland, but I don't know if, particularly in terms of sensitivity and feeling, it is better than the Alesis.

Thanks man! I think in terms of sensitivity alone it’s fairly close. The main difference for me is the occasional latency I got from the Alesis, which feels weird sometimes. I don’t get any of that with the Roland so far.

Thanks for this roundup. As for the Alesis Strike Multipad, are you saying if I used a Roland KT-10 as a kick trigger, I will experience problems getting the kick sounds to trigger? I am not a drummer (yet) and I'm considering buying one as a recording studio mini kit. Thanks!

Excellent question!!! No, for the kick and hi hat those triggers are perfect! I meant for the pads themselves that are played by sticks. Sorry for the confusion!

@@SamuelAging no, the main pads are excellent. I was referring to external pads, like a Roland PDX-100

I am wondering if the spd 30 with a tm-2 would be a substitute for a spd sx pro

Depends on how you use the TM2, but if you are going to use it with a hybrid setup that could probably work great altogether.

@@sabadrumI was just considering the strengths of each product, the more I look at electronic modules/multipad/hybrid options, the more I find confusion. Probably means I need more money to buy a good product.

@@scottwilliamson2324 yeah, it’s a matter of figuring out your needs are as a musician. you get the total package with the spd sx pro. But some people prefer not having everything.

Alesia drum pads blow ass I have a multi strike pro It’s worthless can’t load any sounds on it so you’re stuck with their garbage They give you Waste of money 👎👎👎👎👎

I actually can load lots of sounds on it, but I guess it depends on format, size, etc. I think it’s good for portable gigs as a drumset, better than lugging tons of stuff.
