My Take On The TAP!

My Take On The TAP! Howdy Folks! This video will focus on The TAP (Tactical Assault Panel). I will discuss and demonstrate the use and setup of The TAP as used by the U.S. Military and MULTIPLE Modifications and other uses for The TAP. The TAP is an extremely versatile and well made piece of surplus kit. For the price, it would be difficult to beat!

I just put one of those Krytex H harnesses on my TAP that I'm setting up for holding shotgun shell card holders. I bought it about a month ago and finally got it set up. I plan on attaching Velcro to the front to hold more shell cards on front. Carry buck shot, slugs and bird shot for fpv drones.

AWESOME! I also came to the decision that a dedicated drone hunter has to be in any group. A "Super Full Turkey Choke" would be very useful in that task. In the world of ARs with all the bells and whistles Folks forget about the functional simplicity and usefulness of the venerable shotgun! Stay Vigilant Brother!

I'm so glad I watched this to the end as you pre-empted all my comments. Running security teams on gas and oil pipelines this set up was my go to rig and I have had to cover up at times and it works just as well. For all of us that frequently adjust and reset our rigs looking for the optimal set up this is your best video yet! My wife will come into the barn and say "what are you up to... oh you're playing" lol. Great work brother, warrior level man cave stuff right here. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That looks like a a way better set up than the old Alice stuff, that I still have😂. +1 on the h harness over the y. Never did like it. Every time I watch you it costs me money😁. Maybe someday I'll get a rig I'm happy with

Hahahahaaaaa..... Yeah, I hear ya! There are NO stores you can go to to try on different rigs and get a good idea if a particular rig will work or not. So, it's a matter of trial and error after the fact of buying all the stuff!!!! For the purposes I discussed in the video, I love the TAP the way I've got it kitted out.

They are good enough when in armor but that’s it. Taps made me go down a path of all kinds of chest rigs. Next is running a split rig

I have WAY Too many rigs! Most of them are Patrol Rigs for lots of stuff, but I also have several chest rigs and a couple split rigs. I like them all for different reasons, but none of them are as streamline as the TAP. I have them kited out for the multiple platforms of firearms I run.

I was very happy to see your face/avatar! I have seen the panel without anything else for as low as ten dollars, with the harness and a set of retention clips it's an additional $50. If you are happy with the Y harness, I purchased 2 of mine for $20 and 1 for $13. This is the most versatile rig I own. I haven't attached it to my plate carrier yet but that throws one more option in to it's versatility. I have been disappointed with more of my purchases than I would like to admit, but I think I will be running the TAP for a long time.

Hey brother John, great stuff! Glad to see some surplus gear mods and use vids. I used the Krydex H-harness on my TAPS about six months ago. The only thing I've noticed is that when it's loaded down the shoulder staps feel like they are sliding off. They haven't but just ride further out on my shoulders than backpack or Y-straps. Just something to get used to. I even sinched it up far enough that if needed I could run a standard LBE underneath it. Along with the MOLLE II assault pack and sustainment pouches, one could carry quite a load. Not that my 60 year old ass would go far! Ha! Hope to see more ideas from the laboratory. 😁

First Of All Brother Seeing You Face/Avatar Made My Day! My home life has made every aspect of maintaining the channel extremely challenging. We're working through a lot of challenges but the LORD is keeping our heads above water. He is our PFD! Thank you VERY MUCH for this real life use information! Have you tried adding a sternum strap? I have tried running A LOT of rigs and I had to use some sort of sternum strap or bungee cord to keep the straps in place as I move and bend. It might just be an "older age" body type modification. But, if it keeps us in the game and we can still fight the GOOD fight, not a big deal. Just remember that the oldest documented combatant of the Revolutionary war was 78. As long as we have The LORD and a RIGHTEOUS battle to fight, we will be the warriors he needs us to be. I've got more stuff to share, just a matter of finding the time. May our heavenly Father Bless You And Yours! Thank You For Sharing Your Experience with the TAP!

As always, another great video my friend. I'm currently doing mods to my TAP. Was considering going with a beez combat systems h harness with the molle panel on the back and also the waist strap with a small molle panel in the center. My thinking is running a 3 liter molle hydration carrier and a MAP attached to it for sustainment and extra ammo. The Beez system has padded shoulder straps and I would have the hydration and pack static on that. Seeing you using the Kyrdex harness with a get home bag has got me rethinking that idea lol. I'm also using mine in conjunction with USMC sub belt with the y suspenders. Thanks for some new ideas and God bless!!!

For a factory made, out of the box ready rig, the MCR6 Is outstanding. No need for all the extra mods like you really do need on the tap. The straps on the MCR6 are WAY better than the upgrade straps I ordered from amazon. I have Condors Ronin and several of their Ops chest chest rigs. I've got them kitted out for AKs, PCCs, AR15s, Shotguns and my SOCOM16. Can't beat them for the price/quality!

@@boonedockery7220 That sounds like a great video and right up my alley. I dyed my UCP gear Olive Drab and it turned out fantastic, even did an M65 jacket. My FLC vest was for a custom SKS set-up so I could run pouches that fit my stripper clips and some sustainment. I finally picked up an AR though, so the TAP rig seemed like the next logical step for my budget and needs now.

I never much agreed with the whole "Grey Man" concept. First off, your "Get Home" trip will likely be right at the start of a calamity before everyone starts killing each other over a Pop-Tart. Secondly, I can't see what good a folded up carbine in your grey backpack will do if someone jumps you. Why carry it just to have it taken from you with the rest of your gear and possibly your life ? Predators generally seek out the weak for an easy kill so why try to look like a lost tourist ? Bad guys aren't looking to get shot either. A while ago I even saw one "Prepper" KZreadr say that he'd shoot someone in camo to grab his stuff. He'd better be sure that guy's partner isn't trailing him and he'd better not hit a plate. And I guess if the same "victim" was instead in street clothes with a Sponge Bob backpack he'd just let him walk past, right ? But as they say, "You do you", I don't judge.
