My SUPER Versatile Rack Setup - I LOVE it!

Музыка

The way I have my analog rack set up has worked like a charm. Plus it gives me more room for expansion when it comes to buying to gear! As of now I have a ‪@FocusriteTV‬ 18i20 3rd Gen, ‪@WarmAudioOfficial‬ WA73-EQ, WA76, EQP-WA and the Bus-Comp. All of those and a few guitar pedals make up my rack. But how do I have them all hooked up? In this video I go over how they all work together. If you have any questions, please comment below and I will answer them!

Do you have a rack? If so how do you have it setup?

love this setup! Working on a similar setup myself thanks to your videos. Can you get some good coloration from the WA73 by driving the preamp? I use mostly plugins for EQ but want some coloration. Also I'd be curious to see some mono sources run through that bus comp and see what that sounds like...

@@Cwhite.tx23 Thank you! You can get some good coloration from the WA73. I absolutely love that unit... anything I throw at it just sounds great. I enjoy driving bass guitar pretty hard when recording hard rock tracks. It really helps add clarity to the bass, without it pushing other instruments frequencies to the side. Pairing it with the WA76 is such a dream. Adds warmth and color.

@@ZachWirchak Sweet - Thanks for replying. Been trying to decide between the WA2-73 or a pair of their TB-12s for preamp/saturation. Keep the hybrid mixing/tracking videos coming!

I just ordered the Gator Rack (in Maple Finish) and will upgrade my current Setup (Soundcraft Si Performer Console with Recording Expansion Card) to an RME UFX III, a Focusrite Clarett+ OctoPre and two units of the Warm Audio 412 Preamps. I think my drums will sound even more lively than ever before. Thanks for the Video and greetings from Germany!

I’m planning to build my analog gears soon and this is the only channel I quite find a detailed idea on how to help get started. Thank you sir Zach!

Hey Zach thank you for this video, very informative! got two suggestions for this setup: 1) for output number 6 you need to buy Palmer DACCAPO Reamping box to transform line output impedance to guitar impedance (Low-z to Hi-z), it has output trim knob so you can adjust incoming level somewhere in the room near pedalboard/amp. also you can reamp your di through your amp/peadals later. 2) try to change placement of bus comp with eq. in your current setup eq's -> bus comp, you are equing signal, when you making shelf boost or cut then bus comp will level this out with compression and your eq moves wound seems subtle, instead try to compress and then eq, in this way pultecs would be much more effective (wet) with signal your new subscriber

Thank you for the comment! I've debated flipping the Eqs and bus comp to see which order I like better. I've read up on the pros and cons of each way of running them. But I definitely want to try swapping them to see which suits me better!

@@ZachWirchak For whatever reason, i never thought to create a channel strip like you have but instead use analog gear as an insert for only one piece at a time. Makes a hell of a lot more sense how you do it lol

@@JorgeSalasGuitar I fell ya! I've looked at maybe adding a stereo reverb. But dare I say the plugins I have sounds great tho.... might not be necessarily. Or maybe a 500 series chain... so many options!

Did you ever get a patch bay for your setup? I think it would really open all of this up for you

I haven't yet. I've debated getting a second rack of gear going, and if/when I do that, a patch bay is a must.
