(again, I'm currently recording on my vintage-quality-esque Sony handycam because my Canon is unwell - bear with me, and consider the low quality a stylistic choice) (I love you)

@@reda8281it’s Lady Dakota 😁
"I'm a lover of old things...especially men!" You're preaching to the choir, Dakota
As a microbiology student, I was deeply fascinated at the description of Lovebug. Heading off to add it to my TBR list for the month!
Love how giddily happy you are in this video, lol. And yeah I get excited too when I find random pieces of paper stuck inside old books, or even just notes on the margin, gives me goosebumps thinking about the people who left them.

The "especially men" had me laughing 😂
love that dress on you! also, that moment at 16:58 where you read the word fearless and touch your fearless tattoo?? amazing.
The description of love bug reminds me of gathering moss by Robin wall kimmerer. Gathering moss and braiding sweetgrass are beautiful

I'm reading Gathering Moss right now! My sister keeps teasing me for reading a book about moss, but its fantastic so far! Maybe I'll have to lend it to her next haha
Girl you might be pertinacious but thats why we LOVE and follow you!! You’re unapologetically yourself and I’m all here for it!
The Godess of books has finnally posted I love your videos they inspire me to write pages on pages and read everyday !!!
Can you do a whole vlog, just about your fashion sense?!!!! 💗💞
I love your videos so much, you have inspired me on writing again and making my own channel to share my art. I haven't got the time to be part of the nowhere collective but I hope after the winter holidays (I'm from Argentina) I can do it. Beautiful videos, beautiful writing and human being. Wishing you the best
Happy to see you happy, Dakota! Also, the way the camera shook when all the books fell on the ground 😂
RUNNING TO SHOW mY DEVOTION TO UR VIDEOS
i absolutely adore the honey colour of your hair right now
ahhhh, i recently found your channel and have been really enjoying all of your content
I added several of these to my TBR! Lovebug intrigues me immensely.
This is the first time I watch a video of yours, but I just fell in love with your aesthetic. I’m a fan, I’m sold.
Go down together is amazing!!! I read it years ago back when I was a freshman in high school:)
Amazing summer book haul Dakota love it! 🩵🫶🏻🩵💕💓💜🌈
im finally reading the girls by emma cline after keeping an eye out for years after your reccomendation and enjoying it so much. one of my favourites so far this year definitely! xx
She is so cute when she talks about books
she is glowing!!
so excited for you to read Simple Passion.
I'm also thinking of reading Monsters: A Fan's Dilemma this summer. Dederer did an event at the bookstore I worked at and I really enjoyed listening to her speak, if her book is as fascinating as she was in conversation, I think it's gonna be really good :)
Great video! The Art Monsters book looks really interesting , hope you have a good summer
You’re the cool elder sister that I never had! Always love your videos :’)
Lovebug the cover is pretty and sounds adorable and wonderful 💖🌈🫶🏻💙💕🩵
I need to know where you dress (brands to search for on Vinted lol)
I have this ooolld ballet photography book/magazine thing and the photos in it are so peculiar, wish i could show you haha
Ahh, enjoy Monsters by Claire Dederer. I read earlier this year and it is one of my favourite reads of 2024 till now. It also lead me to Art monsters by Lauren Elkin, which I bought a while ago, but haven't read yet. I am currently also in my non-fiction era. My read right now is Doppelganger by Naomi Klein, am working my way through that quite slowly, but would recommend.
i got sooo excited pressing on this videooo. feels like a lil reward after running round all sweaty taking prom pics last night hehe
i also have both of those problems I'm not tracking my reading but I know Ill read more this summer
omg Three Women is soooo good!!! Also watch the tv show after u read it!
thankkuuu dakota
Jarvis Cocker is also from the band Pulp, his lyrics are phenomenal! He has a lyric book called 'Mother Brother Lover' which I highly recommend xxx
Lovebug sounds incredible! I’m really into health and I am endlessly fascinated by the synergy of bacteria and human existence.
My favourite rambling soul ❤
Recently read simple passion, and my lord is it passion. Passion to the point it’s scary. It dug itself into my bonesss !!! So excited for you to read :))
Ooh, I also picked up Simple Passion. I actually was told it was very Lana Del Rey
fascinating subject for that book about artists and their moral failings and separating the art from the artist. I don't think there is a definitive answer, although I have thought about it alot, because some of my favourite writers have been quite immoral in some ways. I come down on the side of appreciating the good art and great art despite how their author may have been, or despite their views. but I think its worthwhile understanding the personality and failings of the artist too
I can in fact confirm Dakota stood there for ten minutes deciding which book to get
One video of yours and I stop identifying with boredom for a solid week for some reason
Three women I am definitely going to check it out 💖💜💙💗❤️💚🫶🏻🌈
What a coincidence, On love recently came out in my first language and I bought it thinking it's absolutely perfect for this summer

@@sausana2501 I know! I love cats, I'd love to read it, but it hasn't been translated into my native language yet and I'm kinda intimidated by poetry in English. I read prose just fine, though only contemporary for now which is the kind that doesn't get translated in my country very often, the book has to really blow up to be picked up (and queer lit is not gonna be translated at all now that they legally basically put queer people right next to fucking terrorists (they're even banning queer classics like Giovanni's room🤦🏻♀️ I like actually want to kill them for that only, thank god I already have a copy)) so that usually works for me, but I'm gonna have to start reading classics, there's this one book that is not very well known, so it wasn't translated, it's pretty short I hope that'll make it easier. Maybe poetry will be the next challenge!

@@sausana2501 russia. I was talking about them expanding the propaganda law (it used to only concern minors, now "propaganda" is illegal for everybody, even adults, even a guy delivering you pizza and seeing queer art on your wall can get you in trouble) and also recently declaring the lgbtq+ movement an "extremist organisation". The worst thing is they're not even doing it because they're just so homophobic, 💩tin is using the homophobia of the older generation to gain support in the unnecessary war he started. Literally using the queer community to keep murdering a fuck lot of people. There's a good video here on youtube about it, let me find the title, I'll edit the comment in a minute

You are such a dream, Dakota.
Have you read Theology of the Body?
Were is my video? Where is “a girl and her books” video? A somewhat book shelf tour when you were moving! Loved that one
God has posted
Appreciate the nuanced take on Bukowski. One of my favorite writers but not a guy I would like in real life
Bukowski is a great poet, and what makes it so is his sensitivity, his hard striding attempts to hide it from his core audience was always futile and any reader who can read between the lines catches on quickly, this is one flower-soft being, Love is a dog from hell shines strongly.

Your addiction could be cured by meditating on the truth that everyone included you are just characters in story's, that you write with focus on things ,law of attraction gives you what you write ,ie think focus feel about, so get of your arse and write a fkg great life for yourselves, the clock is ticking 😊😊😊😊
Ok I have a recommendation for all my fellow body horror girlies (gender-neutral)! 🫀🫁Suture by Nic Brewer. Just an extract from my storygraph review that I'm hoping will get you all to read it: "So painfully human. Reading this I felt like Finn, my heart was taken out of my ribcage and I was fucking terrified, but then it was put right back so carefully I almost sobbed at the tenderness of the act". The best book I've read in 2024 so far
