Ahh, enjoy Monsters by Claire Dederer. I read earlier this year and it is one of my favourite reads of 2024 till now. It also lead me to Art monsters by Lauren Elkin, which I bought a while ago, but haven't read yet. I am currently also in my non-fiction era. My read right now is Doppelganger by Naomi Klein, am working my way through that quite slowly, but would recommend.

fascinating subject for that book about artists and their moral failings and separating the art from the artist. I don't think there is a definitive answer, although I have thought about it alot, because some of my favourite writers have been quite immoral in some ways. I come down on the side of appreciating the good art and great art despite how their author may have been, or despite their views. but I think its worthwhile understanding the personality and failings of the artist too

@@sausana2501 I know! I love cats, I'd love to read it, but it hasn't been translated into my native language yet and I'm kinda intimidated by poetry in English. I read prose just fine, though only contemporary for now which is the kind that doesn't get translated in my country very often, the book has to really blow up to be picked up (and queer lit is not gonna be translated at all now that they legally basically put queer people right next to fucking terrorists (they're even banning queer classics like Giovanni's room🤦🏻‍♀️ I like actually want to kill them for that only, thank god I already have a copy)) so that usually works for me, but I'm gonna have to start reading classics, there's this one book that is not very well known, so it wasn't translated, it's pretty short I hope that'll make it easier. Maybe poetry will be the next challenge!

@@sausana2501 russia. I was talking about them expanding the propaganda law (it used to only concern minors, now "propaganda" is illegal for everybody, even adults, even a guy delivering you pizza and seeing queer art on your wall can get you in trouble) and also recently declaring the lgbtq+ movement an "extremist organisation". The worst thing is they're not even doing it because they're just so homophobic, 💩tin is using the homophobia of the older generation to gain support in the unnecessary war he started. Literally using the queer community to keep murdering a fuck lot of people. There's a good video here on youtube about it, let me find the title, I'll edit the comment in a minute

Bukowski is a great poet, and what makes it so is his sensitivity, his hard striding attempts to hide it from his core audience was always futile and any reader who can read between the lines catches on quickly, this is one flower-soft being, Love is a dog from hell shines strongly.

Just an extract from my storygraph review that I'm hoping will get you all to read it: "So painfully human. Reading this I felt like Finn, my heart was taken out of my ribcage and I was fucking terrified, but then it was put right back so carefully I almost sobbed at the tenderness of the act".
