Hey Jamie, I find it comforting to know that you at least appear to be as introverted as me! As an introvert, I find it depressing at times to almost never feel like going out and meeting people, but seeing how successful you are as one has highly encouraged me! I'm going back to college in the fall as I have served in the military the last three years.These videos are giving me great study ideas and techniques that I will definitely need for nursing school. Thanks!

I am a Canadian registered nursing student and I love hearing your stories as a med student. I am envious as you experience more sectors of health care (family med, surgery, etc.). Our clinical rotations are separated by semesters and it is randomized, so I am glad you're able to pick electives to help gear your way towards what you want to pursue in your future. Unfortunately, as nurses we receive a generalized education and must pay to specialize after without experiencing the field first. I find your videos extremely helpful Jamie, especially as a nursing student. thank you for sharing :)

Love your videos its crazy how similar your rotations for med school are very similar and different than nursing school. In nursing school we are not on call but the days are long and the instructors give us a great deal of information during our “Clinicals”. We also have our clinicals together on a unit as nursing students. Not very many 1-1 except in our leadership or community health clinicals during my experience. Thank you again.

+BabamitsANNE for neuro I focused a lot on neuroanatomy & different deficits you can see from lesions at each level. Try to look at a lot of slides/brain & spinal cord sections and quiz yourself on important structures. Hope this helps!

AG editors go for it!!! I wanted to become a doctor too but went to engineering instead. My advice from a 20yr old me (I remember myself to you when i was your age) is invest in Learning. invest right now and enjoy being a kid also. its all about balance. Goodluck!

I would recommend teaching yourself to be disciplined and to follow a schedule from now. You will likely forget the information that you learn right now, but you won’t forget your habits. Start by waking up early everyday, creating a daily/weekly schedule (on your agenda or google calenders), and to plan out study times, as well as time for extra curriculars. Read the 7 habits of highly effective people, a free pdf is available online. Keep your things organized - lots of videos on this by StrikeToFit and other study tips channels. It also never hurts to learn on the side, after you are finished with your school homework of course. Try to find hobbies (sports, working out, music, art, creative writing, baking, etc. whatever you like) to balance in between school - it also makes you well rounded as you get older if you continue to pursue and perfect your hobbies/extra curriculars. After making your schedule, if you have free time use it to start learning. You have to start with the basics of science, so you can watch videos such as Crash Course to start out, or if you really want to; in the summer before high school get the required textbook for math and science and read ahead/ get a tutor. I used to struggle in math and chemistry and I got a private tutor in the summer before each grade 9, 10, 11, 12) to learn a few concepts. It helped me prepare for the year ahead. At your age you have to build up from the basics, so you can’t go straight into learning the specifics and mechanisms of human anatomy; I mean you can but it’s easier to forget if you haven’t learn the basics yet. I also recommend reading scientific articles either from Pubmed, scientific america, etc. to increase your reading comprehension and also to just learn more about the science field in a broader sense. The articles on Scientific America are also very interesting to read and easy to understand.
