hi, I use an Amex Plat and have points to redeem. Your suggestion of Al maha is intriguing. but booking with bonvoy points wont include food. Al maha is pretty secluded - and i wont have choice but to buy their food options of breakfast lunch and dinner. how much did you pay at al maha ?

Conversion of reward points to hotels and airmiles is usually for people who like to travel and that too lavishly. It's not difficult for one to get MRCC as the requisite income is just 6lpa. So for someone belonging to this slabs of income , to transfer is MR to Airmiles or marriot bonvoy/Hilton won't be feasible as travel involves other significant costs other than flights and accommodation. Also one usually travels with friends and family so to accumulate that much MR seems pretty difficult. And someone might prefer buying an Amazon voucher that can help him purchase an iPhone than staying at marriot bonvoy or travelling in etihad

I have MRCC(holding since 7 years) and Platinum Travel card(added this month). Till last year, I used to redeem it for credit statement(24k Points - 9k credit). But since this year credit statement has stopped. So this year, I redeemed 48k points for 20k Tanishq diamond jewelry voucher. Going forward will mostly like use it for Airmile conversion.

Considering that with 24K collection you get Rs. 14000 worth Taj Voucher (which is no frills direct Rs.0.60 per MR point) and again with Plat Travel you get Rs. 10000 taj voucher when you hit Rs.4 lakh spend, won’t stays in Taj properties make more sense? For every 24K MR points, you can just keep getting the 14k taj voucher which will give greater value. For Marriott properties, you will have to constantly check and try to find out the best conversion option. Add to this the fact that Marriott shifted to dynamic pricing few months back, you can expect the Bonvoy points value to be worth much less in peak seasons.

I have covered the 24k collection in another video. That’s only possible with MRCC. Number of taj properties is quite limited vs Marriott. Plus most taj properties are luxury ones.

Just for information, Most Marriott properties doesn’t offer breakfast/lunch/dinner complimentary if booked through points.

You should consider transferring to Marriott before 31st October. You’ll get 30% bonus.

MRCC fee is waived if you spend 1.5 L a year. And all points received from Amex gold, MRCC and smartearn can be clubbed. But no doubt transferring to Marriott Bonvoy is a great option.

depends on how much you can spend additionally. 24k is not much but can get you a night or two in a hotel

American Express is fooling us 😅 1) i hv calculate points against rewards For case of mrcc 24000/9000 We are getting 0.375 per 50 rupee spend That means 0.75 paise for a card whose annual fees is 4500/- 😂 2) I hv check rewards for other cards from amex gold card and platinum travel card 🤣 Amex is fooling indians Taj is too costly to stay Per night cost is 25 k to 35 k that means if u get 10 K voucher of taj ,you will spend extra 15 k to stay for 1 night only 🤣 Please calculate your self…

Why can’t Amex provide 5 days or 4 days stay vouchers or at-least 1 day stay voucher in Taj ? They know worth of staying in Taj is 35 K per night so you are happy with 10K voucher but I think trick is earning extra 15K from users.
