A family member brought me to Medugorje in 1996 as a herion addict. I had been in prison a few times. After my experience in Medugorje Now I am a practicing Catholic with a large family. Thank you so much to my Lord and Savour Jesus Christ for your mercy and thanks to Our Lady of Medugorje for bringing me to know her son .

A reporter I knew took a black Rosary of mine with him, to Medjugorje, in about 1990. When he gave it back, on his return, it had a golden color sort of superimposed on the black beads. Its still that was 30+ years later.

I'm from Bosnia and Hercegovina and Medjugorje is such a big part of my life and my familie's life. Really, generally the life of croatian people, whether from Croatia or Bosnia and Hercegovina. I was so sad when I later found out how controversial and oftentimes even hated Medjugorje is especially outside of Croatian circles. Really breaks my heart. So it touches me greatly to hear this because I'm really convinced that the apparitions come from God and are based on his will. I haven't heard of anything bad coming from Medjugorje. Please, if you ever visit Medjugorje again, share your experience.

Father Gregory, Faith is the greatest gift that parents can pass on to their children. It was completely missing in mine. I was sent to a Dominican school. Our teacher Sister "Oteran" told us of Creation. My grandmother was educated by Dominicans in Cape Town. I think the Dominican Order has been been the most prominent in spreading the Faith in South Africa.

I get to a daily Mass about once a week. After Mass there is a short space between and then a Rosary. Normally, I can't stick around for that Rosary and I feel self conscious when I leave in that provided space. Today, I hung in there with a special intention and they started up before I could exit, I had the time today, so I decided to hang in there for the entire Rosary. How long could it be? Well, there was pretty much a litany of every possible thing before we even got to the first three Hail Mary's, even more stuff added between decades and at the end. The prayer actually took longer than the previous liturgy. Anyway, I remembered the tale of Father Gregory's youth and I offered it all up with a special intention for his mom. God bless you, Mrs. Father Greg's Mom! We are blessed and fortunate to have such holy models of the faith in our very presence. Pax Christi, Joseph

I connected with the holy Spirit strongly and God fills my soul deeply. It is a special grace that is happening there during this time for humanity. My family went to Medjugorje in 1989-90, and was impressed by the diversity of people from all over the world coming there in faith and praying the rosary in various languages. However, I find the apparitions of Medjugorje circumspect. I remember on December 31st, '89 we did the Stations of the Cross at Mt Crucivic that had electrical cables from each station up to the Cross atop the Mount. That evening we went to Apparition Hill with hundreds of others for the supposed Apparition & during the "apparition" the stations lit up with flickers of light up to the Cross that illuminated. Amidst the ooh's and aah's of the crowd, I thought - what a scam. Also, unlike the approved Marian apparitions the visionaries have remained in a lay state & something like rock stars, the so-called apparitions are excessive in comparison and without approval from the local bishop.

I was in Medjugorje in 1999. Sitting behind St. James during adoration, I was drawn to look over my left shoulder and view the Sun. The Sun became five times larger than typical and began to turn colors and spin, almost like a top, faster than the eye could see. It then began to shoot off colors like a fireworks display, came to an abrupt stop and took the form of the Eucharist. A week of fasting, rosary, confession and the Mass followed by the miracle of the Sun.

I enjoyed the nice cohesive story that led you into Dominican life. To me, it sounds like your family had an extremely crucial role in getting you to that point. There wasn't any kind of "spark" or "a-ha" moment that led you to it, from what I gathered. Maybe I was expecting that? I don't know. I realize that doesn't always happen to a person upon contemplating entering a religious order, but if there is that kind of spark or soul-tugging feeling there (i.e. being led by the Holy Spirit perhaps), I find that to be a little more significant. At that point, it's more like a calling rather than something you just "fall into," you know? From what I gathered here in this video, you were in the more of the "falling into" category, which is all well and good. Congrats on how you got to where you wanted to go, and I wish you the best in the years to come.

The student tradition to jump in the Mitteraubach to my knowledge started in 1995/6 with an orthodox fellow called Taras who was at the LCI and at the beginnings of the ITI (then also with its campus at the Kartause). It was sporadically carried on by "Peter from Poland" during my own time in Gaming (1997-2002) and some of his converts. From that time it was remembered as a thing done and talked about in stories new arrivals would hear and the bravest (or most foolish) would carry on ... 😀

Father you look exactly like my friend who passed away a couple of years ago. I've been listening to your videos a lot because i can't concentrate when i'm looking, you look so similar it's insane. Anyways, just wanted to share that and thank you for what you've done. We need more Fathers like you.

I wish that I had been at home with my parents when I was in 10th grade! Because the sins of youth cast a huge shadow over my life all these many years later

No shadow is so huge that it can't be overcome by the strong light of God's mercy. I'm speaking from experience. Hang in there.

Thank you, Father Gregory! A pleasure to hear the beautiful, inspiring story of your life, delivered with a refreshing balance of humour and "nerditude" (great word!), hahaha ;) I haven't had a chance to listen to your Godsplaining podcast yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it, as I have your contributions here (might be a bit of a nerd, myself...we're each our own unique kind of weird, lol). Prayers offered for you and all of our clergy throughout the world, from the little province of Prince Edward Island :) God bless!

Fr. GP, you are one of my favorite geeky Dominicans. Thanks for sharing this story and for all of the KZread content you've put out there.

Thank you for your testimony! My parents grew up and used to live in a city close by to Medugorje; so seeing so many hearts being touched all over the world by this small place makes me so happy ♥️ but at the same time also makes me realize how I do not appreciate as much as I should-

What struck me about your story Fr Pine is the part where it's not about our quest for God but God's quest for us and how He wants to give of Himself to us. A helpful nugget of wisdom to remember, especially in our "self-help"/"self-improvement" culture. Thank you as always for your guidance and wisdom, God bless!
