I prefer Sebs line up although I`d go 3-5-2 with Pope in goal, centre backs Ben White, Eric Dier, and Maguire , Shaw and TAA Wing backs with Bellingham Rice and Maddison in the middle and have Kane and Foden just playing off Kane as a link between midfield and Kane

Yours is better, I'm playing Rashford over Grealish on form and I'm trusting Maguire because Stones and Maguire is our only tried and tested partnership and I want that stability at centre back.

Completely agree with Spencer. England need to attack Iran from the start. Carlos Querios team are typically very defensive and will sit back, then catch teams on the counter . This fixture could be a banana skin for England, if Southgate goes defensive, especially going up an experienced manager like Querios

why i don't agree with Seb. back 5 against Iran with rice. there's no need. Spencers idea with rice to drop back in if needed is a better idea.

The thing about Saka in the end is absolutely wrong. Watch him every week and he has the dog in him at least for a winger. About the last match that was referenced tho, it might be true but only because of the world cup

Disagree with the assessment on saka. Been getting constantly battered by defenders this season and continued in the same way in games. If you look at the challenge specifically mentioned then its a heavy impact onto one point on his ankle. With the world cup in mind and the upcoming ganes he chose just to come off in precaution more than anything.

England definitely should go much more attacking in this game. As a Iranian, Iran only chance in this game is to set up in 4-4-2 very rigid, or 4-5-1. There’s even talk only one of azmoun or taremi start. Big threat for England really is how Carlos queiroz sets up his team, the mentality he will have the players playing with, and hope they can hit England on the counter with taremi and jahanbaksh

Saka is one of the most fouled players in the league and gets the least fouls called for him lmao. Seb’s comment comes from a lack of proper understanding of the situation. Lodi in that forest game had crunched him a couple times, badly. It’s only a matter of time before he gets seriously injured, I hate this narrative of “oh toughen up” you haven’t had any serious injuries yet

Dropping Pickford the instant the world cup starts is total madness tbh, even if you think (as I do, actually) that Ramsdale is the long term replacement.

I think what Seb said about England needing a spark was the best insight in the video. England have had relatively easy routes to the final in the last two major tournaments and coasting in with the same team and attitude could see England go out shockingly early.

Iran play a low block with direct counter-attacks, so pacy centre-backs that can play the ball forward will be important, and we'll need creativity and combinations on the edge of the box. Might see Grealish get a surprise start.

Poor take on Saka from Seb IMO. He gets kicked left right and centre for Arsenal, and not only that, last season he played in ALL if not all but one premier league games. This season he has played every single premier league game including many of our Europa league games. He’s a very resilient player that continues to get up and plays his game by taking on players despite getting clattered numerous times.

So if you look back through history, the teams that do well are the teams that don't change formation and play the same style with small tweaks depending on the team you play against. So for me if you are saying we won't play this way against the bigger teams It is self sabotaging for later in the tournament

We won't though, we'll play 4 back against the weaker teams and switch to a 5 when playing the top teams, if we play a top team, as we did in the Euros

I think Spencer’s team is very close to the perfect one, I personally would have mount in, then Foden left and grealish out, to let mount cover all that space being vacated by rice dropping in to help Bellingham

I'd definitely go with Spencers team but Aaron Ramsdale in goal.

If you want to attack from the start, dominate possession and try and minimise chances for Iran, Ramsdale should start. Much better at playing out from the back. His shot stopping isn’t as good but if you attempt to dominate the game, Pickford might not be the best option

I'm so glad you picked Saka, Spence. Sterling had a great Euro's but he's too selfish and not on form atm. He scored 4-5 goals at the Euro's but how many did his selfish behaviour prevent? Saka is having a great season with Arsenal and deserves the start.

The only way you don’t play Bellingham and rice is if you’re being very conservative with play time and injury. If Southgate comes out and says they’re his reasons then fine. If they both get a 45 in the Iran game, fine by me. Using a sport science hat that’s probably what you’d be asking for. Outside of the groups they’re playing every minute of every game. So save them as best you can. Maybe the same with Kane once the games safe. The low block that teams are going to play is a massive issue with resting kane.

It says alot that Maguire is one of our best centre backs.If he picked tomori we would have had a big chance

Grealish is playing very well. Only stat merchants who haven't watched City will not realise that. Also, at worse Grealish has been meh, Trent has been awful and is almost costing Liverpool goals every game. Starting Trent when you have arguably the 2 best RBs in the league this season in Trippier and White would not make any sense

You’re a fool. Grealish doesn’t make City best 11. By his own admission he’s done nothing in a side of stars to justify getting in an England team. He was getting G/A at Villa so why is he not allowed to be criticised for putting up zero numbers in a dominant team? Trent is the most creative full back in Europe, proven at European and League level. Why is this suddenly forgot about for recent from other inferior players?

Not sure I agree with Seb at all regarding Saka. Watch us week in week out. Saka gets absolutely kicked about for 90 mins and dusts himself off time and time again, often continuing to be our best player and providing winning moments, after being kicked and down with a knock.

We will 100% play a 4. In the Euros we played a 4 against every lesser team, all 3 group games, Ukraine and Denmark. Only played 5 against Germany and Italy.

If you’re gonna have rice covering and staying back you may as well put trent in at RB

We can all say Maguire will play. You don’t take him to qatar and waste a spot by keeping him on the bench. It’s not like he’s a squad player that motivates the team.

What is seb even on about Saka? He played 38 games in the prem last season and has started every game this season aswell. Litterally involved 50+ PL games straight. Dont give me none of the Sturridge mentality.

Trent against Iran seem logical. Its iran. They should be attacking. I love to see some good football
