I did a solo trip to Japan this past January. Some days I felt like doing a lot of exploring, 30k steps minimum and some days I felt like laying in bed all day. I could eat whenever I wanted to and as much as I wanted to without having to care for others. The true freedom you have in such a beautiful and safe country like Japan is a unique experience that is unlike anything I have felt before. I never once felt a hint of loneliness. Japan is a country catered so well for individuals that it is widely accepted that people do things by themselves. Solo trips are in my opinion super underrated and more people need to spread their wings and experience it. I'm going back again next January for another solo trip.

I went for a week to Osaka. first time out of the country. I'd say it was overwhelming, fantastic, friendly, & fun. I was greeted and welcomed I never was "alone" but for some reason, in this country at times I felt lonely. although the people were polite, respectful, and would help if they could; it felt they were reserved or shy. it was peaceful in a way but also a lot of reflection. I was between serenity & sorrow. I liked learning their social norms and felt myself missing that culture coming back to America.

i also did my solo trip last month (mar 7-24) and i have to say, knowing when the rush hour and the time where it is crowded is the key i stayed in narita airport rest house during my first and last days so that i would be prepared. i'm starting to regret eating breakfast. if i have known jonathan in my second hotel, i would have gone there very early in the morning via keisei skyliner to akihabara. i could have dodged the rush hour by going at 5am also, knowing the time frame of the luggage delivery is key for more than 2 check in bags. air canada limits me to one check in, so i could have dodged doing luggage delivery if i wanted to, and i did that from kyoto back to tokyo. my seat is limited on the green car though, but i was still able to secure the seat where i can see mt fuji. also the time i was going back to tokyo was the time kyoto snowed the night before and earthquake happened. although my bullet train didn't stop in nagoya, so that was... there are some places i still haven't explored, so people staying in tokyo longer is too much, oh my gosh

Great video, I love Japan and have a spent a few months there myself. I still consider Tokyo one of my favourite cities. I encourage everyone to visit Tokyo at least once, for me personally it’s that standard that all other cities are judged against. Some points you made that I also agree with; - food and service standards in Japan and Tokyo especially are incredibly high. I never went to a place where I needed to wait more than 15 to 20 minutes and the food was still at a significantly higher standard than back home in Toronto. - I avoided owl and cat cafes because I feel like they are a little exploitative and perhaps the animals are stressed with large crowds. - I would also mention to book TeamLab tickets well in advance similar to Shibuya Sky

Just wondering how much time you spend doing your videography, how much of your day is taken up searching for the right viewpoint or waiting for the right moment, when you're traveling in Japan (or anywhere). There's so many of these Japan travel videos these days, and as someone who's lived intermittently there, to be honest I felt here's yet another, but was pleasantly surprised at the skill of your work, your composition and filming in general and also the narration, so I have to wonder, is it also your day job?

I love eating at Japanese place but I 100% agree 3 hour wait is not only ridiculous its disrespectful to the customers esp to famous restaurants who do this for many years, they should either improve the waiting system or look for a bigger place to rent.

Yeah, there are definitely a few things that are a bit iffy with the owl cafe. I enjoyed seeing them but not sure I would do it again!
