You should make an automation that will let your kids leave a message. This would show up as a mail icon on your stream deck that you could press and listen to the messages when you had free time. This would also help if your kids forget what they want to tell you.

I was thinking a video doorbell. You can get apartment kits for many that allow them to be installed temporarily, then program the button. A press just sends a flag to the streamdeck, a press and hold begins recording. If they press the button and it sends the flag, then you know they need attention. Press and hold let's them "share secrets" or tell you something they think you need to know.

These automations are absurd and ridiculous and I loved every last one of them!! And they kept getting progressively more interesting too!!! This is such a creative use of tech where you home is able to interact with your kids in a meaningful way. Im curious though , how does your wife feel about it? Mines would think it’s ridiculous but then use it consistently 😂

I appreciate it! She likes them because when our 4 year old is busy finding the pink light or playing in "the jungle" and not bugging my wife every two seconds... she is happy.

The only flaw in this logic is that it would backfire. If you give them treats for knocking on your door. They will be knocking on your door all day, just so they can play the games and get the treats lol

This is the best thing I've seen yet with automations! Your creativity, imagination and ability to work around the technology to make the magic happen is phenomenal. Everyone's too busy trying to make life better, you're out here making life fun

These automations are amazing, and with each one you managed to blow my expectations away. It's crazy to see people create such complex and amazing automations, when I wouldn't have thought half of this was even possible. Keep it up.
I just wanted to say, I don’t know how I found your channel but you’re just such a wholesome guy and I love that you include your family in your videos. It makes everything feel a lot more at home. Great content, please keep them coming as I not only find your videos helpful but very entertaining as well.
You are a GENIUS! These are all amazing! How old are your kids? Curious when you think these will start to be effective?

It's mainly used by our 4 year old. Her older sister is at school during the day but still likes playing the games.
The post video scene was toooo cute!!❤️ Love the games as well
Neat idea, but this might teach your kids that "if I knock on the door, I'll get to play a game!"
Another great video demonstrating the possibilities of what you can do with the tech in our homes. As my kids our grown, will pass down some of these to them for their children. Very entertaining

Wow, home automation into another level. Well done, sir!. Youre basically a full time software engineer at this point! Amazing automations!.
You are awesome man! I need to do some home automations, but first I need to watch more of your stuff!
Just awesome. I wish I had this type of creativity

Hi Reid, I watch your videos regularly because of the nuanced content and the high quality. But this is just in a league of its own! Honestly floored by your ingenuity! All the best from Germany.
Wow, home automation into another level. Well done, sir!
Amazing. Great stuff. Clever and fun! Your a good dad
These are the BEST! Definitely going to make these
These automations are great. I think that it's a really creative use and a lot more interesting then a lot of obvious routines. Plus it gets kids interested in technology and creativity.
Incredible stuff! I’ve been thinking about making that ninja game for a little while now with my kids, but the pet feeder treat at the end is beyond genius!
With the kiddos getting out of school soon for the summer, these are some great ideas!
My new channel dabbles in automation, and you've been recommended ever since. Amazing ideas and productions man!!!
I loved this video! I don't think anyone working at home with small children would bash you for these fun automations
Bro this is the best automation video EVER!!!! How creative!!!! Thanks for sharing
getting the robot vacuum to play hide and seek is just genius, love that idea!
I wasn't expecting the robot vacuum thing! That's pretty cool!!! What does it do if it finds her that way? Is there a mint recognition for that and then game over?
you are the best parent when it comes to your kids and smart home
Great fun video, always nice to do something with the kids, especially when they are cheerful!
You my friend are a smart home routine genius! I need to level up my skills to get even some real basic routines going (it would help to have more devices as well).

These automations are very creative Good job!
These are absolutely fantastic!
Thank you for your awesome video, do you know a way to trigger a stream deck key with a smarthome device action?
Question, where did you get the small remote type unit with the buttons that you are pressing in one part of the video? Great Video!!!! Nevermind I just found it in your other video that I some how missed.
You are a genius! I wished I had this when my kids were young, this seems to be a lot of fun. Maybe I will setup some games for my grand childrens when I have some!
Love it. Your best Video yet ❤ - my wife will hate how much time I'll spend reengineering these automations 😂
Lol. Thanks Reed. Very inventive.
Very cute & ingenious!

What is that button pad you are using in the video? Maybe you mentioned it in another video, but I've never seen that before.
This is insane, I love the ninja game and hide and seek. I have been watching this channel for a while and I think this is the most creative episode, 10/10 automations
This is awesome. I expect my kids would learn within a day to just bang on the door whenever they come by just to get some TV or a treat :)
Haha. The ending skit was hilarious 😂😂😂
Awesome automations Reed! I am curious about the spouse approval factor for them...
the pressure sensor under the bed goes off when the parents are getting busy... LOL

Hey quick question, what is the best way to trigger alexa routines with home assistant?
U are a genius 😂❤🎉 I will take it as an inspo for my automation!!!

Hi, great video. I want to add to my network with about 40devices (half of them tuya smart) 30 led smart bulbs and cant find any cheap options with zigbee hub. If i will go without hub will it overload my RT-AX86U router?
@SmartHomeSolver
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Usually smart devices that use a lot of bandwidth (cameras uploading to the cloud) are the main culprits. You will probably be fine with that router. Once you start getting way past 100 devices and your router is needing to be re-booted every week, then you will know it's time to upgrade the router.
Im so glad the TV turned on Bluey.
This is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!
6:33 just starts playing ymca when you take a nap after forgetting to turn it off
I love this guys house. I wish every house was like this 😂
My guy took kids games to another level
This is insane!!! I wish I had this!!!
Man you're a great parent. Instead of telling your kids to stop and then they will be bored, you give them fun games and other automated epic stuff!
Brilliant
Do you ever have issues connecting motion sensors to Amazon 4th gen as a zigbee bridge? If so, is there a solution? Using a sonoff sensor.
hahaha, You're amazing... The Ninja and Jump Time games are fantastic.
to make the routines did you use alexa’s routine maker or something else?
What a fun Dad!
Great ideas!!!
