good day sir! can you make a video on how to cut your own hair using only scissors? there are a lot of guys who doesn't have their own clippers, including me, so it will be a big help especially during this time.

Wow, such an independent man! Good job!
People might find it difficult initially but in just few cuts you will get it perfect.. I started my own haircut watching his tutorials.. people say now I am cutting better than our local barbers..
The fact he’s cut his hair 3x during quarantine is crazy cuz I haven’t at all ..... this is giving me some motivation

@@OutAroundAndAgain "hair like that" most likely referring to no receding hairline. You still have to cut your hair if your hairline has recessed.

Timely video. Hardest part for me was using mirrors and battling my brain to go opposite direction from what I am seeing when doing the back of my head.

It takes a little bit of practice to get used to that but you can also do so with the clippers off just to get used to the motions!
I've cut my own hair once and awhile too. Started just doing buzz cuts years ago now have been working on my own fades. Depending on the length of hair and what you want to accomplish it can be very difficult and time consuming. The 2nd mirror is a great idea. Also the blend work is an art form that practice does makes perfect. Great videos man keep them coming.

Hey bro I cut hair for a living and I even found some great tips from ya man keep doing your thing 👌🏽🤙🏽 @AlexKouras
Aprendi mais com esse cara do que com diversos vídeos de cabeleireiros brasileiros que ficam presos aos pentes especiais 0,5 e 1,5 para fazer uma fade massa. Inclusive cortando o próprio cabelo. Quem for BR deixa o like ;)
Mirror setup is key, also good lighting helps a lot
I took some notes, as I have not had a haircut for a long time. Due to the lockdown, I will have to cut it myself. Waiting for my Wahl - 'Lithium' Power Clipper to arrive :) 00:20 position mirror on door trim 00:35 position mirror against the wall 00:48 position mirror 45⁰ from the wall 02:12 360⁰ view of the head before the fade The mirror is at 45⁰ from the wall 02:26 #1 guard level (1/8" / 3mm) halfway open, bring guideline 1/2" (13 mm), drop fade near the back of the head 03:46 #2 guard level (1/4" / 6mm) halfway open, go up 1" (25 mm) from initial guideline (in previous attempts it was 0.5" (1.3 cm)), now the fade can be stretched out 05:08 #1 guard level (1/8" / 3mm) open, start blending hard line from the initial guideline, go up 1/4" (6 mm) and flick up and away from the head 06:19 #2 guard level (1/4" / 6mm) open, take out some bulk by flicking up 1/2" (13 mm) and away from the head. Stand up straight, don't lean body a lot to remain angled perception and hand-eye coordination. The mirror is on the door trim 07:05 use thinning shears and comb, use scissor over comb technique to blend in bulkier hair with the fade-in created by the clippers. 09:09 use trimmer to get lines trimmed at edges 11:04 final 360⁰ view of the head after the fade

You helped me with all your videos for my first dope haircut!. First time in my life cutting my own hair due to quarantine and couldn't have done it without you!. The mirror set up was the best!. It helped with cutting my hair. I've seen other videos and yours was the easiest set up and helped free up my hands. No need to grab on a hand held mirror. I also love the contacts tips in your other video. I wear glasses so that made it better to cut. Thanks again!. People love my haircut and it's thanks to YOU!.
OMG! Thanks for the video! It makes it so much easier then trying to hold a mirror with my other hand! The 45 degree trick works like a charm. Now I can see everything i'm doing!
Your channel has every detailed steps to fade your own hair with explanation throughout the whole process, unlike all the others just showing what guards to use. The mirror positioning is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again!

The ratio is exceptionally good, so it just gets ignored on KZread. There's always a percentage of thumbs down for whatever peculiar reasons.
Thanks for the videos especially the steps and what guards to use thanks man!! Big help
I love what you're doing here, Alex! Your haircuts look great and efficient, the production quality is high, I like the music (good choice with Instinct), and your commentary is very helpful and funny. I gave the fade a shot and it looks good, but I need more practice. I'm not ready to go for the crisp lines, the fade isn't smooth, and I haven't touched the hair at the top of the head yet. I find it hard to believe that I gave this haircut to myself when I catch myself in the mirror, though; it looks good! Thanks for the videos :-D

Encouraged by your videos, I did finally succeed to cut my own hair, but, what I found really hard, especially for the beginner, those fade cuts. Considering my results weren't that bad, and it was my very first cut ever, although those fades are so so tricky to do. I used a hand mirror as secondary, which made the process even harder, but I am really happy that I could do it eventually! Thank you, Alex!

@@AlexKouras hello you are beautiful... I love you...💋
We have the same hair color and skin shadow so it looks best with a taper fade or medium to high with the bevel starting mid high or at the occipital bump. The bevel needs to be angled out slightly for the sides and normal at the back.

Thanks so much for this vid Alex, so well made and explained! I've been using this technique since March and I swear I will never pay for a haircut again 😁 such a good skill to learn, so thankyou! I was wondering if you could explain, or do another video on how to do the same cut but shorter, starting off with a 0.5 and going up in length? Is it the same with half guard 0.5 and then 1, then 0.5 open to get rid of the line or is there more to it? Cheers mate keep up the good work! Tim from England!

My man, I need this tutorial but for people who are short-sighted (wear glasses). If I take em off I can't see anything, if I keep them on I can't get my sides right. I feel like I am doing these tutorials on some "insane"-like level. You got any tips? I've seen people flip their glasses infront of their eyes, hold em like this and then cut as usual, but I don't think that this is a good solution.

What I do is, I get old glasses remove the side frames and let the front part sit on my nose bridge. If they keep falling off use tape to stick them to your forehead. Cheaper than contact lenses. Your prescription would not have changed much, plus I keep my old glasses for football so that I do not break my current ones. I am not being funny, i'm deadly serious lol. we are in crazy times I just make do! If you dont still have your old glasses you can always remove the frames from your new ones and put them back in but thats up to you, you have time.

i'm no expert but often i'll take my glasses off *only* when doing the spots immediately around the ear. not even a half inch radius or so. you have to be a little careful but it's not too hard.

The mirror thing really helped, cause where I live the trifold is just too expensive... so using just a regular mirror at 45⁰ will be my best bet
Did my first self haircut yesterday, it’s not 100% perfect, but looks pretty good for the first try, the mirror was essencial
On top of the cheap mirror, what about adding an iPad or something, if available? You can set up a phone behind you and FaceTime yourself and have a constant view of what's happening back there.
