My Secret Weapon: The GTO Stat Checker

The GTO Stat Checker is available now!
www.mobiuspoker.com/stat-checker
In this video, I'll give you a full walkthrough of a custom stat checker I have built, which is part of my new program, the GTO Stat Checker. This is a video module + Hand2Note popup course which will allow you to import your hand histories into Hand2Note and instantly check your frequencies against the solver in every common spot in the game tree.
What makes this stat checker different from other Hand2Note popups on the market is it automatically compares your stats to solver stats, and highlights any areas where you deviate from equilibrium.
This stat checker has thousands of custom stats, and it is the same stat checker I currently use in my cash game coaching program, Mobius Cash. It also includes three different rake structures for low, mid, and high stakes players.
I hope this video shows you how many leaks there are to uncover, even if you are a relatively strong poker player, and how much room for improvement there still is in your study routine.
The course will launch in early June, and I'll update the description with links to the sales page as soon as it is out!

    Something to note is that some of these students' stats are of course in relation to population stats, e.g. lower 3bets than usual could potentially be because population is opening less frequent than GTO, or over 4betting. This means that bare stats comparing without context is not necessarily going to give you leaks. Do you agree with this problem and how can we solve that?

The biggest changes for MTTs will be preflop stats and flop c-bet stats. For most turn and river stats, there won’t be a significant difference between cash and MTTs. Hey Patrick, Thank you for the great content! Can you make a video/comment about anticipating exploits on previous streets, if is worth it? For example, If villain has a bit of overcall turn, most combos of bluff become -EV. However, If the same player has ton of overfold River in most runnouts, it becomes +EV to bet/bet Turn and River? The same with bluffcathing. If villain underbluff a bit on Turn, but a ton on River, call/call becomes +EV always with the previous 0 ev combos bluffcatchers? If so, it's something to do intuitively, or can be done in Pio, even if it involves deviations on two streets with multiple possible runouts

    Thanks for this great content! Question about 9:20: Is the overfolding and under4betting vs 3bets a good counterstrategy vs pool, when the common leak they have is under3betting, especially from BB?

  • @mobiuspoker

    @mobiuspoker

    Жыл бұрын

    This is a good question, but the answer is complicated and IMO ends up being a stylistic decision. It's impossible to see the population's range composition preflop unless you play in a pool which lets you download hand histories with hole cards exposed (e.g. Bodog, Ignition). That being said, I think it is reasonable to overfold to 3bets, especially at lower stakes where it's almost certain that people are underbluffing them. However, there are also reasons not to overfold preflop to 3bets: 1. It's highly conspicuous and exploitable, and some regs may notice, and could counter exploit you. I personally don't like to take heavy exploits preflop for this reason. 2. It's a bad/weak habit that will likely backfire when you get to higher stakes and play in tougher pools. 3. Even if players underbluff preflop, they will still make lots of mistakes postflop that you can take advantage of. If you have an edge on your opponents postflop, it may make more sense to pass up preflop exploits in order to see more flops and crush them post. Without getting super specific on the preflop and postflop exploits that are available against a certain player, it's impossible to say which is better. And even then you'd need insanely complex computer models to answer this question, which are not currently possible to create. So, it's up to you :)

    Thanks for your answer :) Which approach would you take if you played nl100 with a vast hand history of your opponents, where majority of them are for example 3betting BBvsBU 10% instead of ~15% that you see in GTO charts. Strategy in charts for IP player are created vs hands which don't exist in this case. Knowing that, would you still prefer to play GTO ranges IP to build good habits and begin searching for postflop edge? I'd appreciate your opinion :)

    @@maciejw1589 If they are under 3betting that severely, then I would open raise a bit more from the BTN and then overfold a bit with 0 EV calling hands when they 3bet. I personally would not go max explo preflop. Subtler exploits are better on early streets.

    amazing content, I have a couple questions if the pool is 3betting less than optimal arent we supposed to either overfold/under4bet preflop and/or overfold postflop in 3bet pots as the defender? How does that factor into evaluating our preflop stats against monker standard? Are we still trying to come as close to them as possible? thanks

  • @mobiuspoker

    @mobiuspoker

    Жыл бұрын

    TY! If the pool is under 3betting it does not necessarily mean they are underbluffing. That said I think it's safe to assume regs in this pool are underbluffing the 3bet, so yes, you can overfold. Most people seem to call too much vs. 3bets at low stakes in theory anyway. The goal is not necessarily to get as close to GTO stats as possible. The GTO stats are just there as a baseline from which you can exploit.

    How do you memorize PF ranges? (because you seem a bit scandalized at your student that was mis-defending PF) BB defense vs any position vs 3 sizings (1 for SB) is 13 PF ranges, with a complicated polar 3bet range. Do you have charts everywhere on your desktop? How do you decide which part of the game tree you should work on? I imagine that being a massive fish in a spot that happens every 10k hands isn't as impactful as something that happens very frequently. Will your course cover that? That tool seems supremely powerful. Will it be a unique price or you'll be able to have a per stake price? "Affordable for lower stakes" is so vague :) NL100 is low-stakes, for someone that plays 50k hands a month, if we conservatively assume it increases the player's winrate by 0.5bb/100, that's an extra 3k per year, so I'd argue it's a profitable and affordable purchase even if it costs 2k USD for a lot of players. (I hope I didn't give you the idea to raise the price :)) I started to play recently and only have 50k hands, mostly at NL5 Zoom so I'm not eligible, unfortunately. I still think your tool is amazing, I'll get it once the (surprisingly) amazing content on KZread isn't enough to move up, not sure when that will be, hopefully in a while.

    Check out my video "Solvers and Trainers." There is a section where I discuss building simplified preflop ranges. This is how I memorize ranges. I do not use anything to assist me when I play. (I don't even think this is helpful.) No one is perfect preflop because preflop is not possible to memorize. But you can get close enough to perfect by simplifying your ranges and consistently checking your stats for leaks so you know what your trouble areas are preflop.

    @@mobiuspoker Yes when I meant memorize ranges, I mean simplified ranges, rounded to 25/50/pure frequencies. I find that challenging to memorize BB vs CO when CO does 2/2.5/3x, that's already 3 ranges. The regs are all over the places at my stakes and open between 2x/3x, so I guess I should memorize vs 2.5x and have approximations for other sizes :) it's not like I would get into trouble for doing that at my stakes anyway, I can keep complex stuff for later.
