The FC is still the greatest version of the RX7 easily... love the RedSuns vinyls, really brings me back to my childhood watching Initial D religiously. Always love to see a fellow FC enjoyer out there enjoying their ride, love the excitement and the energy of this man

As someone who witnessed each generation of RX7 when they were new, I didn’t like the SA/FB, the FC was an improvement, but the best looking generation is by far the FD. I remember the first time I saw an FD. It was outside a nightclub in 1993, when they first came out. It was all black. I was blown away by its looks. It’s one of the best looking car bodies that was affordable by regular people in the last 30 years.

I literally own one.. And im still gunna say nah, it isnt. If the world allowed me a trade for an FD, id turn it down. only because i like the FC more. But i know the FD as a car is better.
I love how proud he is of that bond and what the car did for father and son. Well done brother
What an incredible project/story. I felt like a cool Dad just showing my boys how to fix a flat, jump start, change oil, and change brakes. You and your son are at a entirely different level. So awesome! Thanks for sharing
I’m 24 and I’m on my third FC3s, my first one was a basket case, but man, every I went people went nuts, not many around where I live, sometimes it’s hard to be motivated to keep up with maintenance and stuff, but then I think to myself “what about the kids that have never seen one”? And that keeps me motivated, I often get asked why I don’t buy more expensive and powerful cars, my answer is simply “honestly, they don’t mean much to me” and people look dazzled and confused hahaha

@@Ethan-yd9mg What's going on with it wiring-wise? I have pretty much every vintage rotary wiring diagram book out there, including a bunch of Japanese ones and a few I translated for the Eunos Cosmo. And I've already built a 20B FC years ago, so it can't be too hard to sort out a REPU. Hate to brag, but nobody has a better arsenal for oldschool brappers than the White Comet of Akagi. me.
one of my great regrets, is that me and my dad never got to do this. from the age of twelve onwards me and him always talked about building a classic car together, but money was always too tight, and he had to work too many hours to make ends meet no regrets, but more than just a bit of envy
Initial D is the best series ever, your son is super cool lol. Initial D is the only reason I even care about cars and drifting. My dad and I now work on my 90s JDM car on the weekends. It’s nothing impressed if it’s an accord, but it was my grandmas, his moms, and it’s special.

That's the first VINWiki story that made me tear up. Great story! Car lover's equivalent of playing catch.
I remember when the FC first came to America, it made National news because dealerships were demanding "above sticker" premiums, and people were paying them. I'm sure it wasn't the first vehicle that dealers did that with (I know some dealers did that with limited production vehicles, e.g., Corvette "Pace Car" models, etc), but I'm pretty sure it was the first car that had that level of attention paid to the practice.

This reminds me of my childhood. My dad and I built a 2wd 4 cyl 1988 ford ranger and grafted in a 302/C6/gear drive NP205/Dana 44/Ford 9” on 12 inches of lift and 35” tires. Started it when I was 14 and was able to drive it to school when I was 16

I loved my 1980 R-X7 and got it because my friend Walt Bohren was driving for Racing Beat in IMSA GT-U. And I brought it from another friend and fellow Cannonball alum the and owner of Z+W Mazda in Princeton NJ. I know the brap brap well hearing the race car wailing down the straight at 10,000 rpm with no muffler, just a megaphone exhaust throwing flames out back when he lifted off the throttle.

That is a great story. There are car enthusiasts and then there are the hardcore enthusiasts. Those hardcore car enthusiasts are known as rotards. I have a Rx7 Fd. My son and I spend a lot of time together riding to car events in it. We do go to all kind of car events including entering it in autocross events. I love expensive exotics but that 700 dollar son and father relationship, in my opinion is worth more than those beautiful, high performance exotics . Brap on brother
Love how proud you can tell he is of his son. W's all around
My dentist had the same story, only a nomad with bees in the glovebox 🐝 🔧
Here for the initial D references
Cool story, and the father and son project makes it priceless IMO. Very awesome! Even has the 'Redsuns' livery from Initial D. Makes you wanna race Takumi to the Fujiwara Tofu shop! Hehe 😂 Its a clean and tasteful FC. Nice work 👍😁
Initial D is my favorite car anime and to see you and your son bring that car to life is the greatest....and you actually put the Red Suns Sticker .. NICE
Enjoyed your story. My father and son project was a, 1967 Volkswagon beetle. My father purchased it for, $500.00. We brought it home from, Scholfield Barracks in Hawaii. The next day it all began. We didn't have internet back then. I chose a lacquer finish of, Triumph Blue it looked really nice when it was finished, with the back bubble windows that gave you extra head room. It took about, 6 months to finish. Just like your broadcast, we did everything ourselves. I learned alot about engines and the building proces of cars and the, Science behind of, how the things worked. It was fun bonding with my father over that project. All children seem to want to learn directly from their parents. Enjoy teaching and working with my own children. Aloha and Mahalo for your channel. About 10 years later my father sold the 1967 volkswagon for, $5000.00 to a family friend. The gas mileage was great, and living in, Hawaii everything is expensive especially gasoline. 🌺🌼🌴🏝🌊❤️🇺🇸
Watching some kids jaw drop when you just drive by in your clapped out FC has gotta be one of the best feelings in the world, I definitely remember when I saw my first 2nd Gen Rx-7 just driving by
You guys were the ones who bought this dam car. Ae86 owner here! Friend of mines saw it said it was too much for him
I deal with dentists on daily basis. Since he can do stuff with his hands he’s 70% there and have a potential to be a great dentist.
What a wonderful story and bonding moment for a father and son!
Steve POV is a great channel. Respects to this guy!
Steve's a cool guy, nothing but respect for the Ganbare (Japanese for "do your best") put into this. My FC from 2011 was a budget build too, but went a different direction by setting the record for the most ambitious low-cost build ever. It's the only sub-$8000 20B build to ever be finished as a running and driving car. And one of maybe 3 that actually got the sequential turbos working properly too. Ended up learning Japanese because of it, now the entire world of brappers has me on speeddial, and quite a few other groups too. It was on a Hold My Beer dare that I tracked down discontinued a/c lines and axles for a R32 Skyline. That and writing the manual for the 20b Cosmo, and finding a ton more Japanese manual for fun.
😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂😂I could image the old lady’s and her noise 😂😂😂😂😂that had me dying with laughter
Love that build series. So cool seeing the father son bond throughout it. I'm building a FC as well and hope to run into Steve one day here in TX. ✌️

To be really honest here you can't put a value to it because it's stuff that you can't purchase you have to like acquire it and modify it and in that process you end up gaining it so I personally think you can't put a price to it because you can't base that price because it's sentimental now

Me and my dad picked up a MK3 Supra from a coworker for free. The thing didn't run and everything was mangled. We fixed it from a bottom up for 10 months. We run it up and down the coastline every few weeks. I wouldn't ask for any other father and I wouldn't sell that car for a trillion dollars.
