    This is what many people donot understand. The Asante royalty is NOT about being served but rather to serve Sika Dwa Kofi. It is not uncommon to cross paths with very powerful men and women here in Ashanti region without knowing who they are until you see them performing their duties at such events.

    Otumfour speaks through Okyeame and his duty is to repeat but "polish" the phrase for better understanding and also in worst case Otumfour made mistakes in speech, the Okyeame will quickly " SIEVE " the whole sentences for public consumption.

    In the Akan tradition, the chief doesn't speak directly to his people. Likewise the people to the king. So communication is done through the linguist. The linguist also corrects some of the slips by the king.
