*Just completed a big trim project on my house **MyBest.Tools** Performed very well. Also appreciate how easy it is to move, set up and store with the integrated stand. No more cutting wood on my knees.*

The saw isnt very square but your problem here seems to be the result of a lose blade. I can hear the motor whirring but the blade doesn't spin.

Make sure the nut holding the blade is tight. It might be causing the issue you are experiencing.

I went in the comments to check if this was mentioned. That's exactly what I thought too. When a blade normally jams, its jarring but more importantly the saw completely stops making a spinning noise. When the saw is then turned off you can hear when the motor stops spinning but the blade continues to free spin. Highly recommend checking that the blade is tight on the arbor. With the saw unplugged, put a wrench on the arbor but and you shouldn't be able to turn the blade at all. If the blade can move at all, tighten it. If it can't be tightened do not use the saw with a loose blade. Best case it stops like in the video, bad case it goes crooked and causes kickback and worst the blade could come completely off. Best of luck and hope you get it fixed.

Ever wonder why at 3:08 into the *Spoiler alert** video your blade has stopped and the motor is still spinning? From 3:14 tp 3:44 the motor has stopped, yet the blade keeps spinning. Is there a loose nut somewhere?

I've had this saw for about two years and I was shocked to see the jamming... I've never really had that experience - never with 2x4 cuts... the blade almost looks wobbly in the video so maybe it wasn't secured tight enough? Anyway, I think it's a solid saw for the price point. As some others have said, the main negative is the fence and it not squaring properly when locking into place.

Glad yours worked out. We did check the blade, it was tight. Comparing it side by side with my 4516, they went with a lot more cheap plastic parts and other design short-cuts that make me glad I had issues with it and took it back. My expectations were high after using the 4516. The Metabo is a better fit for me.

A couple of people have commented on that they think the blade was loose. Maybe. I did not check that as the brake stopped working as well so I assumed they were linked. Would a loose blade also cause the motor brake to stop working? The brake is internal to the motor not the blade. Any comments on that?

others have commented that the blade was loose and that was my first thought because as you were ripping that board the blade stopped turning but the motor never slowed down by the noise. you and your son spend two hours trying to calibrate everything but could quite get thing right. if the blade is loose you guy could have spent two days, weeks, months, or years and you’d never get it square and parallel because the blade is always moving. another thing, the blades that come with saws are “always” junk. the run out is probably in the range of 0.010” if you’re lucky. i’m curious to know how bad that rip fence is because i’d like to buy a jobsite tabkesaw but without the stand. it’s 2020 and it seems like they all combined their jobsite saws with stands and jacked the price, so i’m looking into this one but if the rip fence sucks, i don’t want it, unless it can be retrofitted with a better one. back to the blade.....it really looked loose. might you buy another to try at home then return it just out of curiosity? lol

@@ginoasci2876 thanks. Yes the fence to the miter slots, the riving knife, etc it was all off. The blade was off too but was not difficult to align to the slots. The fence was hard to keep true. I adjusted everything to the slots not the blade but yes, if had tried to adjust everything to line up with a lose blade, it would have very frustrating.

@@randymay3925 : I bought the Ridgid R4514 but the table wasn't flat, they sent another top but still not flat and I had to swap it out. These manufacturers are pissing us off and we should let them know, by not buying any jobsite saws. Boycotting seems to be our only weapon to control them, but then you have contractors the need to get work done. We have to Male do with doo doo I suppose. Wear your glasses, watch your fingers, and have fun. Cheers!

I have the same saw and I’m not happy with it either. Dust collection is awful, bevel is a pain to adjust (and I can never get it to true 90), and the rip fence often ends up angled, have to check it every cut. Not happy with this saw.

I know you've replaced this saw already, but something else that could have been happening since you said you checked the arbor nut was the rear of the fence being off a hair and pinching your 2x4 enough to activate the brake? Just a thought.

Your blade isn't tight at all. The motor is still spinning and that tells me you don't have the lock bolt cinched down. If the motor didn't have enough power, you'd hear it lock up. I didn't hear it lock up. I'd be curious to know, since you did this review about 2 months ago, if you fixed your issue. Was it a loose lock bolt?

Thank you for commenting and watching my video. I can understand that. I have another Ridgid saw that I can do a very positive video on but it is a different model. And yes, even if you take the mechanical issues out, every component of this saw is made way cheaper than the other Ridgid saw we own and another we have used. I actually bought this saw based a very positive experience with Ridgid and considered them to the go to solution. That is no longer true with the cheap re-design that they have gone to. I looked for weeks to find video and review of this same saw model and could not find any so I bought based on and expecting a similar saw as the other Ridgid saws I was familiar with. This is not the same saw. It is cheaply made and arrived out of square in every direction. Maybe this one was dropped in shipping and every other one is perfect. Even if that is true, it does not address the cheap flexible plastic pieces that have replaced solid pieces on earlier models.

  • @randymay3925

Thanks for the connects. Some comments said the blade is loose. Could be. The motor was slowing down as well but the blade brake stopped working as well. But, in the off chance that the blade was loose, then that is just another thing left loose and out of adjustment from the factory. I would still be a bad saw as that does not address the other out of wack and cheapened things about this saw compared to the reviews of the estimate models I looked at. It was a bad saw no matter what. I wanted to like this saw but do not recommend it at all.

@@mgcaekdb I got a different saw. I found a Metabo on sale during Christmas and so far am loving it. I like the Ridgid saws but the orders ones. I have a 4516 at the house also and that is a great saw. The 4518 went cheap plastic parts and harder to adjust. I would not have gotten another one of those based cheapened materials anyway.

Dear friend, you have not yet seen the worst of all, which is undoubtedly the Kobalt KT 10152. I tried 3 different ones in different stores and each returned them, they are all garbage, each had two or three serious design problems and is built with cheap materials. for $ 350 it was the worst waste of time, now I go for a $500 up Table saw

  • @alsmith7316
    @alsmith73163 жыл бұрын

Yep, my money is on a loose arbor nut. When the blade stops moving the motor keeps going and you can hear that shaft rubbing on the blade's arbor hole. Once you shut the saw off you can hear the brake engage, but then the blade keeps spinning and making noise as it rotates around the shaft. Loose arbor nut.

A few people have said that. I talked to my son who helped me set it up. I did not remember if we checked the blade but he said for sure that we did because he was the one who checked and tightened it. Also, assuming that that was the issue anyway, there were several issues that had nothing to do with the blade. I have another Ridgid saw that I love and bought this one because of my fantastic experience with the R4516. This is not the same quality of saw in any way. The miter gauge is cheap plastic vs solid metal one on the R4516. The R4516 was accurate out of the box, the R4518 was out of adjustment in every area and was really difficult to set to square. I do not know how long it would hold once adjusted because I returned it.
