Yes! I met him at a customer appreciation concert 13years ago. He so incredibly kind. I have family that helped set up for the concert and I got to go hang out in the pit. The concert was at Shelor Speedway. My stepdad, who was helping set up was going to babysit so I could see the show. Unbeknownst to me, he had already taken my daughter around the pit area to show off his grandkid and she got to meet Charlie before I did. He held her for a short bit and let her play with his hat 💗.

Charlie Daniels you one of the greatest musicians I've had the pleasure of seeing. I have ALL your CD's and love listening to them. I could go on and on about your music, your kind spirit and love of God and our Great Country and before he passed away, he was so upset about what is happening in America now, it truly saddened him because he cared about EVERYONE. I feel blessed to know that he's watching over us all and that gives me so much comfort. I know I will see you in Heaven when my time on this Earth is over, so until then RIP

This song is one of my greatest memories... My family took a trip to Disney Land back in 1981. One of rides (Tilt-a-Whorl i think) played this song as it spun us around. My Dad and i loved it and were screaming FASTER!!!! And the operator heard us, and "Oh? is it not fast enough for the little lady? well far be it for me to disappoint the little miss" and he cranked it up as fast as it could go... We had a ball! My Dad was an alcoholic, so i have very few 'good' memories of him. This one is precious to me.

I saw Charlie Daniels in concert (for the first time) in Oklahoma last December (2019) with Travis Tritt. Charlie was so dope and could still shred on his fiddle. He expressed his love for the USA, it’s citizens, and especially its men and women in uniform protecting our freedom and there was not one dry eye in the theater. He also saw a young boy in the front row who was dancing to the music and Charlie walked right over to him in the middle of the song and gave his bow to the boy. Pretty awesome souvenir and memory for that youngster. Now to hear that he has passed I’m deeply saddened but also thankful that I decided to buy that ticket and drive from Texas to Oklahoma to see him perform. As I sat there just a few rows back I was amazed at how spry he was for being in his 80s. It just goes to show you that live is precious, health is paramount, and every day is a gift. RIP Charlie!

Charlie Daniels lived 83 glorious years. He played with Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan many other top artists. Here's a little story, Charlie also played guitar and sat one night with Bob Dylan. After the rehearsal Bobs producer told him they already had a guitarist. Charlie was putting his guitar away when Bob said, "I want him" pointing to Charlie and Charlie played guitar for Bob Dylan. There are dozens of other stories of Charlie playing and recommending friends to play instead of him. There wasn't a bad word that was ever said about this good man. RIP.

I think this is one of them song that no matter how talented the person who covers it is, Charlie Daniels will always be the best at this. I know there are songs like "Sound of Silence" that just blows away the original, but this dude will always stand the test of time.

❤❤❤ My parents, my brother and I, saw Charlie Daniels play at a casino in Lake Tahoe, California in the early 80's. I was 8 or 9 when we saw them. It was awesome. Funny thing was, after the show, we were walking through the casino to go to our room, and people were thinking that my dad was Charlie. They looked a lot alike. So he went with it. It was funny. We took pictures by their tour bus in the parking lot the next morning. But we didn't see any of the band.

I have loved Charlie since the early 80's. There is nobody who played the fiddle as well as Charlie. I'm glad you've at least found him now and you can react to more of his music. In America is a great one too.

best poem ever written courtesy Charlie Daniels himself: a brief candle both ends burning an endless mile a bus wheel turning a friend to share a lonesome time a handshake and a sip of wine say it loud and let it ring that were all parts of everything the present future and the past fly on proud bird your free at last. Written for his buddy none other than Ronnie VanZant!

I discovered Charlie Daniel's music when I was a teenager and became hooked immediately...certain songs that I hear now as a 56 year old take me back 40 years to a time when my dad & I would play the old 8-track tapes over & over while traveling and camping. Dad's been gone since '99 but hearing anything from CDB's Million Mile Reflections puts a smile on my face every time. Thanks for the reaction, Gitana...and Godspeed, Charlie. You will be missed, and thank you for all the fantastic songs!!

Uneasy Rider '88, Legend of Wooley Swamp, Simple Man, Lonesome Boy from Dixie, and so many more are so good. This song is by far his most popular one, but he has made so many great songs. My dad worked a convert for him back in the 80's, like '89 or so, and since he was working security, he got to go backstage after everything was done, and Charlie Daniels and the band had bbq and such after the concert, and let my dad and his buddies who were just there for the show backstage to eat and just hang out. They talked for a couple of hours and then they got back on the road and my dad headed back home with a signed hat lol. He still has that hat. Every story I have ever heard about Charlie Daniels has been about how down to earth he was and how kind he was. Truly a great man, and such a sad loss. Thank you for listening to his music and telling us what you thought. It is awesome that people are hearing his music for the first time, though I wish it were under different circumstances.

I saw Charlie a couple of years ago here in Nashville at the Grand Ol Opry. He opened with Simple Man and of course he played this. Before he played this he said “I believe I’ve played this 10,000 times... here’s to 10,001”. #10,001 was just as passionate as #1. It was intense. He brought the house down.
