My PVZ2 World Tier List

Ойындар

Plants Vs Zombies 2 is a game with a lot of things. Worlds are one of them, a very important thing, with huge ramifications for the rest of the series. Featuring a time travel theme, these create huge variety all throughout the rest of the series. However, they also have their own downsides. It ain't all perfect, and ya know, Tier List videos are fun to make generally. So yeah. I'm honestly super happy with this one too, so I hope you enjoy.

The Far Future time isn’t actually Al that vague. The preview of the world actually mentions how it takes place SPECIFICALLY in the year 2323, so we’ve got around 300 years to go before we can make any judgements there.

  • @thealientree3821

    @thealientree3821

Honestly, I don't think we need a lot to make Far Future accurate, and most of those things can perhaps be achievable in 300 years. I guess the big thing would be if we can sustain our kind for the next 300 years, or like about 3-4 generations worth of human beings. But if we can't, no one would be laughing. Walking robots are kind of a thing, jetpacks seem to be plausible, and holographic projection might be expected. And for the aspect of zombies and plants... I mean, Modern Day has zombies and sapient plants. I think Power Tiles can be interesting... An automated way to spread plant food. Which translated to the real world, can be like an artificial network to spread fertilizer. There are inventions that mimic nature, and Power Tiles would be no exception, as it can mimic the fungal network. Perhaps in this, we can control plants in a more so collective way instead of an individualistic way.

One thing I love about Modern Day is how genius the music is. As well as being remixes of tracks from the first game, instruments from other worlds are used. Not only does this reflect the time rift theme, but the modern life in general. We are so proud of our knowledge of history. It weaves its way into movies, shows, or just references everywhere. Some even make up history because they're so annoyed they don't know everything!

I personally think Neon Mixtape Tour’s gimmick and specials concept is extremely interesting. Having a lot of really strong and threatening specials that aren’t always active and will rotate when they do become active is quite interesting and is far more interesting than things like Dark Ages or Jurassic Marsh which have almost no specials themselves. The Jam mechanic is the one I personally see having the most potential to be expanded upon and is one of my favorite gimmicks to deal with. Also, the music is absolutely amazing.

I feel like they could have made the world much, much harder, but ended up finding a near perfect balance in difficulty imo. The fact that most of the specials have different counterplay also makes it even better imo, forcing weird but cool strats occasionally.

In the base game I definitely agree Dark Ages is quite terrible, but I also find it rather hilarious how a mod managed to almost completely fix it with the addition of just one zombie. The Bandit zombie in Reflourished. The main "challenge" of Dark Ages is the lack of sun, which forces you to either rely on weak but cheap plants, or have a very limited number of better but expensive plants on the field at any one time. However, thanks to cheap and free stalling plants like Iceburg lettuce and stalia, you can just stall out the game until you have a full lineup of sun production and now it no longer matters. The Bandits changes that, as it's almost always the first few zombies you'll see in the world. They are fairly fast and will rush towards your backline and ruin any sun production in that lane quite easily, encouraging you to kill him fast, but after a short time they'll start backing off out of the map and will vanish. That already sets up a time limit, as you only have so long before it effectively kills itself, causing more zombies to come up and progressing the wave. If you try to stall him, he'll also start backing off, so your only two options are either kill him now, or let him eat everything in the lane. He punishes stalling the early game in a sun-starved world very effectively, forcing you to deal with the larger and more dangerous waves when you aren't 100% prepared for them just yet. Dark Summons can spawn in groups of fire/explosion immune imps, King zombies can buff up the field quite fast, Jesters are jesters, and with all these meat shields, it makes Wizards much more dangerous since you have to try and work your way through the forward wall to finally reach them, even with many AOE plants. Stalling things out to get a bunch of sun production online makes them all far easier, but the Bandit zombie forces you to either lose that production line, or let those dangerous zombies start showing up before you are really ready for them. The 75 sun the bandit drops when he dies, which sounds like a good bonus since free sun, but honestly it feels more like a consolation prize considering how it punishes stalling otherwise. Such an excellent little "haha too bad" from the devs, lovably infuriating design...

Its the culmination of everything you've gone through in the game previously and serves a nice book end to the Adventure. The "Dark Ages" are also known as the Middle Ages. This period in history lasts from after the fall of the Roman Empire ( around 500AD) to the start of the Renassiance(1500AD). The name orginated came from a Italian historian in the 14th century called Petarch, who preferred the Greek and Roman times, calling them more advanced and sophisticated. Indeed, the Middle ages was a time of numerous war and bloodshed, and many diseases(notably the Black Death or Bubonic Plague) spread. However, there was many technological and medical advances during this 1000 year period. Some include advancements includes the building of complex cathedrals and castles, the Silk Road, and printing press and telescope. Despite this, the name stuck as some other scholars also agreed with Petarch. In conclusion, the Dark Ages was most definitely not dark, and many intelligent people lived during this time and made great contributions, but the name became popular culture as people tend to look at the negatives.

So I had to look up a strat, then figure our good replaces for the new linear progression system, because it had plants I couldn't get. And the stupid ice of Frostbute Caves that somehow effects ice plants, even though they should be used to those temperatures and maybe get stronger because more ice. Anyway Far Future was fun, and in one last stand level made me realize that those are were Lightning Reed truly shines.

Neon mixtape Tour's plants are some of the worst choices for the world, and really are the thing that let the world down for me (Speaking from purely Vanilla). They all get countered in some way : Phat Beat - Small area (3x3) so needs to be close up, making it an easy target against Instakills (Fun Fact : Most of the zombies do that! Rapper literally attacks the same area and can stop Phat Beat instantly). Plus, Glitter makes it devoid since the zombies behind it become immune, so it needs to kill the Glitter first. Celery Stalker - Same problem as P.B. . It would be decent, but even Glitter can stop it, by either rolling it over, or by the zombies behind it. Garlic - Same problem. Itd obviously be good with P.B. but again, instakills. Plus, Arcade can spawn so many zombies that it just gets eaten immediately. Spore shroom - Again, same problem. Unlike P.B. or C.S. where they start at the front though, Spore shroom can spawn new plants at the front. Which instantly can be removed. Thyme Warp - Usable in a single world. Plus if you have Breakdancer, then youre almost back at square one, with less sun. Cactus - Glitter stops it's piercing, though the Spikeweed part is good. Electric Blueberry - Countered by Arcade, who can spawn more zombies to take over the Thunder. Almost all these plants attack from up front, where Insta-kills are. So basically, theres no point to bring them to N.M.T. 1 or 2 are good in other worlds, but most are either Useless or forgettable.

For me it's: 11: Ancient Egypt, the most basic of level designs, not bad, but since it's the first world of the game, it had to be easy, but due to this, it lacks replayability. Not bad but when you have tons of other fun worlds, something has to be at the bottom. 10: Wild West, my biggest gripe is when they take away tiles to plant on, this problem is shared with the next world, however WW usually takes away tiles in the first few columns which is where most of the planting is done. I also find the minecarts finnicky to use. The only redeeming factor for me is the pianist zombie having great synergy with the minecarts, but other than that, pretty forgettable for me. 9: Pirate Seas, I don't care much for the first three areas, but PS and WW at least have replayability. I especially love how the field is laid out like a zombie ship has laid planks trying to invade your home. There are also much more zombies that synergize with the empty space gimmick as apposed to the stupid rail tracks who's main purpose is to unintentionally take up planting space. 8: Frostbite Caves, I love gimmicks that cause you to change your playstyle 'cause it forces you to choose plants you might otherwise overlook, and the freezing aspect is a great way to accomplish this. I also like the upgraded Chicken Wrangler Zombie, (now called Weasel Hoarder) who now spawns slower, but tankier weasels. 7: Big Wave Beach, another world gimmick that takes away planting spots, but at least with this one you have lily pads to counteract this, along with certain plants being able to be planted in the water. I especially like the attention to detail with Rotobaga and Ghost Pepper who technically levitate, so aren't affected if the tile they're planted on has water. 6: Dark Ages, by far my favourite music, it gives that whimsical medieval feel. It just lacks content, having the fewest levels of any world, but it's saved by the zombies. The Jester is my favourite since it causes you to rethink your entire playstyle, making you use plants you might otherwise overlook. 5: Jurassic Marsh, I love the dino gimmick, it creates an obstacle you can't kill, keeping a constant threat you need to keep in mind, similar to FC, but the chilling effect can easily be counteracted with hot plants. Unlike other worlds, where the threats are caused by zombies, and can be taken out with sheer power, the only way to deal with dinos is with Perfume shroom, and even then, it has a long enough recharge time where you can't solve all your problems with it. It's brought this low due to it having the fewest new zombies. 4: Lost City, if the music were better it would be at number 3, but it's overall carried by how well the zombies interact with each other, however I must say that the sun tile gimmick makes getting sun a bit too easy. 3: Far Future, this has some of the best music. I love the contrast with the jetpack zombie being quick, but frail, compared to the robots who are tanky, but slow. It also has one of the four Gargantuars who aren't just carbon copies of each other. 2: Neon Mixtape Tour, I love music, and having the special zombies activate their ability when their jam is playing is such a fun gimmick. Even the Gargantuar was given this gimmick. 1: Modern Day, Though it only has one gimmick, the ability to summon zombies randomly from other time periods is very interesting. It requires you to not only prepare for the shown zombies, but also for any curveballs thrown at you.

Gonna break all this down lol. -I have a soft spot for Jurassic Marsh and Frostbite for the music and vibes, but yeah they're definitely on the lower end of good game design. I love the character design of the dinos, too, they're very cute. -I am very neutral on Pirate Seas. I just have no thoughts on it at all. Lol. -If Lost City JUST made more and better use of the crystal skull zombie, I could see it being more difficult, but it doesn't, so it isn't. If they did, it could turn the gold tiles producing so much sun at such a clip into a bad thing. -I find Ancient Egypt fascinating, because while it CLAIMS to be ancient, everything in it appears to be ruins and there are the explorers, implying the actual time period to be something at least Napoleonic, it's just a strange thing I noticed. -Neon Mixtape Tour is so much one of my favorites, as I am a music nerd, I love the jams and how the music themed zombies all have uniquely dangerous abilities. -GOD I hate Big Wave Beach for the most part, especially how killing surfer zombie TOO LATE causes him to still instakill and plant his surfboard. I also really despise the octo-zombie for everything he does to me. I would be okay with fisher zombie if the world gave you banana launcher sooner, but again, it doesn't, so it's not. By the time you have banana, you've already slogged through most of fisher zombie's appearances and I hate it. -Far Future strikes my love of retro-futuristic aesthetics very well, and it's interesting lore-wise that the zombies are, ultimately, still around far into the future. -WILD WEST!!! The one aesthetic I love more than retro-future, having grown up immersed in it. The minecarts are great for things like coconut cannons, which is quite a period-accurate for a plant, despite being from Pirate Seas. Wild West as a whole leaves you very hard-up for space at every turn, lawn crowding isn't something many gimmicks make you consider. The music sounding like time is starting to mess up could also explain why the bulls are robots. -Modern Day is a huge nostalgia blast, and honestly? I'm a sucker for it. Everything about playing it sucks, but the music and finally seeing the classic zombies again is fun. That's all the good I can say about it. Why would they make me deal with octo-zombie and surfer zombie again? Why?

I have a couple ideas for DA myself: (keep in mind I’m not a mod creator I’m just a person who likes conjuring up ideas) Remember the Fog Levels of PvZ1? Well this gimmick I thought of is similar to that. Medieval Haze: While Medieval Haze won’t appear in all Dark Ages levels, in Levels where it does appear Columns 7-9 from the house will get covered in it and can only be permanently removed by plantern (which I’ll mention later) or temporarily removed by plants such as blowver and Hurrikale. Medieval Haze will also have 2 special zombies related to it those being: Phantom Mist Zombie: Stats approximate values* Speed 0.5* Toughness 400* Special ability: phases through wall plants and low-ground plants. Weakness: will get insta-killed by Blover/hurrikale and Plantern. Other: Only appears if Medieval Haze is present. Spawns from the 7th column from the house, if there are Zombie Kings present on the Lawn Phantom Mist Zombie will attack them before going towards your house. Phantom Mist Zombie are ghosts of previous zombie kings Eager to get Revenge for as they put it “Foul and Most Unnatural Murders” by the current King Zombie; only appearing when the land is covered in mist whenever there is no zombie king for them to take their anger out on they’ll all take their anger out on the plants instead. And for the second one Zombie Dullihan: Stats: Speed 0.2 Toughness 5400 Special: Attacks Plants 1-2 tiles in front of it with a Bone Whip that deals roughly 1.5x higher damage than a normal zombie, at half-health Zombie Dullihan will throw its Pumpkin head at the plant in its lane on the second column from the house, instantly killing it and the plants in a 3x3 area around it unless the targeted plant is removed, Immune to Hypnosis and Chill. I’m to lazy to write an entry but I Will mention that Zombie Dullihan is based on the headless-horseman. Also the theme for those levels would be a Dark-Ages styled Rigor Mormist. Now for the plant I mentioned earlier Plantern would get unlocked after beating the first level that features Medieval Haze. And it’s relationship with Medieval Haze Will be same as it’s relationship with Fog in the original PvZ though Plantern won’t be exactly the same as the original so here are some differences: Sun Cost: 75 Toughness: 600 Abillity: increases the attack speed of nearby plants in a 3x3 radius of it by 1.5x. All other stats and abilities of it are the same as PvZ1. Edit i changed its Sun Cost to 75 Sun because now that I think about it 200 sun would be too much for too little.

Tier list, tier list, tier list. I know your thoughts now I give mine. #11: A fair choice honestly, I also don’t really like FBC at all. It’s just never been a world I’ve ever liked or had fun playing. #10: Honestly, I actually like DA quite a fair bit. I would personally rank it in the middle of the pack, around #6. I’ve always liked night a lot so this world is definitely already getting points for that. #9: Gameplay of JM is eh, what really saves it for me is the absolutely amazing harmonica in the tracks. That harmonica alone elevated this by 2 spots in my rankings. #8: I don’t really have a strong opinion of PS. It exists, I guess. it’s not the worst. #7: LC is a world I do not like. It’s just never been a world that had any elements I enjoyed. It would definitely be in my bottom 3 worlds, really not good. #6: AE is a world that, even if it’s just a tutorial, I think should be tonnes better. I don’t care if it’s a tutorial world technically, it should at least be interesting. #5: My favourite world. I never really minded the shoddy plants given, the aesthetic and zombies of the world were just super great. Having the best music also helps. #4: it’s good and decently hard. I’m also not very strongly opinionated on BWB, it’s good and that’s all that matters to me. #3: FF is definitely my most major disagreement. This world is just a bit of a slog, I just want it to be over with after a little bit. I never liked power tiles, the plants, while solid, weren’t great to me, the zombies were annoying and I don’t care for this type of future aesthetic. #2: Yeah, WW is just quite solid. No major mistakes and I don’t really have any issues with it. It’s just not my favourite. #1: Look, this is your tier list, you’re free to express your opinion on MD. You can just put it in Bad and be on your day, ok? That’s all I really have to say, well, unless I do a video myself (which I won’t).

I think my problem with jm is that there's barely any counters to the dinosaur mechanic even tho you can use primal potato mine against Bully's and grapeshot against rockpunchers against the dinosaurs you have nothing no primal peas no blover no primal potato mine just perfume shroom really and perfume shroom recharges at the speed you can finish a pvz 1 day level.

I WILL NOT TOLERATE FROSTBITE CAVES SLANDER, IT IS ONE OF THE MOST GENUINELY FUN WORLDS TO PLAYTHROUGH.

I love frostbite caves, dark ages, and Jurassic marsh (mostly because I like those time periods) but Wild West is the best world.

could you do a plant tierlist as well. because there are so many you could split it into the different categories that plants have

Honestly, the name of frostbite caves should have been some kind of pun with ice and missed potential
