Just to make it clear this stuff is totally unnecessary! You don't need anything like I have to start programming and I myself started with a dual core laptop with 4gb of ram. This is just what I use today and I wanted to show it to you all :)

Rally enjoyed the video such as other ones. One thing I wanna say is can you make a whole video about your KZread setup I mean what are you filming with in depth, because I started my own KZread chann'el and I only have a tripod for my phone and a circular light.

I know a lot of people cringe at "developing on windows", but since the introduction of technologies like docker, wsl, and many more, developing on windows isn't that bad. Most tools have native windows support, and if not, you can just use docker or wsl.

I've been working as a Software Engineer for 15+ years. I've worked in C, C++, C#, Java, Javascript, Scala, Spark and more. I can tell that none of these things will make you a great engineer. If you want to be successful and be a great engineer, instead of collecting these hardware items (which will soon be out of date), then collect these things which will serve you for your whole career. 1. A love of learning -- With tech, you're never done learning 2. The ability to work with others (teams) 3. Strong work ethic -- Be self motivated 4. Be willing to admit when you are wrong 5. Be willing to listen to criticism and others ideas.

Having a nice setup that you really love can be a great motivation. While I completely agree that the things you mentioned are much more valuable, especially in a work from home setup it's little things like a nice keyboard, high resolution monitors and so on that can really help you feel more productive.

I just found this video after watching the one from November 2019, and as a programmer-to-be, this was very interesting for me. While my current chair is still fine, I definitely plan to buy a better one in the future. I also like that you mentioned the fidget toys. I didn't find the spinners very satisfying for myself and didn't even know about the square thingy, but I tried a fidget cube, and I absolutely love it. Thanks for sharing your setup!

Epic setup, Tim. For those that can't necessarily afford that beautiful LG, I'd highly recommend a program called "Divvy" which allows you to split any screen in any of those pre-defined layouts. Also, the mouse hyper-fast scrolling can easily be simulated with an AutoHotKey script called "Accelerated Scrolling." For those with a larger budget looking for a "buy-it-for-life" purchase for the chair, I'd highly recommend either the Herman Miller Aeron or Embody. Both are absolutely incredible and the difference from a DXRacer is night and day.

To anyone who is procrastinating because their programming setup is not good enough yet, you must know that none of this is necessary. I learned to program on a Pentium 4 2006 pc, an old dining table and a plastic chair. The only things I'd recommend if you can afford are 1 - A chair that supports your lower back 2 - An extra monitor 3 - An SSD Drive if your old pc has a Hard Disk because it makes the most difference in terms of performance. Good luck in your programming journey. None of this shit is necessary, this guy has very informative programming videos to help you learn but in this one, he is just boasting. :D

When I need to go to the bottom of large file I just press G (Shift + g) in (Neo)Vim and I'm instantly at the end of file. This is 'game changer'.
