MY POTTERY BACKGROUND & WHEN ARE YOU READY? // Wheel Talk

A little video just chatting about my pottery background as well as when are you ready to go out on your own as a potter.
Cheesy series called Wheel Talk where I chat about certain topics or answer questions since I suck at talking straight to the camera and need something to do.

Thanks for sharing your journey with us Kevin! These videos help keep me motivated during Melbourne lockdown and I really can't wait to see the progress you make once you have access to firing and testing again. Please do a glazing bloopers video one day lol

Thank you for watching! I can't wait to be able to fire again. I should start collection bloopers in a folder and edit it all together for a bloopers reel in the future haha.

Kevin - I love your videos! I just bought a wheel (it was pretty cheap) to gain more confidence in private at home. I couldn't keep buying classes but still wanted to make stuff. I'm not looking to sell, it's more of a hobby that I'm excited about. I would love to see videos on how you do glazing from home. :)

That's amazing! It's very exciting to be able to throw at home! I will definitely being doing a glazing video in the future, what in particular would you like to see? How to mix dry ingredients? Different application (dipping vs brushing)? Let me know and thanks for the comment.

Aw Ali is adorable. Great chat, I do that too, make my interests into a career. I went back to school after I already had a Master’s, to learn photography and started a photography business... and here I am finally getting into pottery that I have been longing to do since I first tired a wheel in middle school. Don’t know where it will take me but I do love it!

Older video, but the way you described this topic sounded alot like love. At some point you know how you feel and where your heart is and it’s taking the leap that becomes the hard part. It seems to be true with anything we’re passionate about. I think when our true passions are obvious, it helps to have others encourage us to follow our dream and who we are. I hope anyone that sees this video and reads these words can look at them as a sign.

Just found your channel and I'm in love with your products, your little studio and your videos! Keep going with these content, 'cause I think they are very useful for beginners like me! :) Hugs from Italy!

Hi Kevin, thank you so much for your generosity. I’m excited to watch you as you evolve -your talent, your style and your voice as a content presenter. I feel kind of responsible to help you build subscribers and help improve your algorithms! Go Kevin! Follow that dream! I suggest you put some links to sell your creations soon, so that you can buy supplies and feed Ali. I need a fermentation pot, some big ramen bowls and I love handmade items. Do you stamp or sign your name on the pieces? I’m a fine arts major who went into Graphic Design, motherhood and then Primary School teaching, so the ‘creative art for ME’ only happens in the holiday breaks (sigh). You have inspired me to look into making my own studio. My poor family knows I have enough random art supplies for one (scattered and stashed around the house)! When you can’t even find your supplies, the artistic inspiration fades pretty quickly! A tidy well organised studio is just gold! You keep going and we’ll keep watching and supporting! All the best : )
