I did worship music during my labors and had family praying. Jesus literally gave me such peace. I have no clue how I would have managed without him anddddd the epidural lol 😆 !!! Congrats momma!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your birth story. I was in tears when you were talking about how sad and in shock you were when they told you you should get induced. I'm pregnant with my first and I feel the same way and it's hard to describe the feeling when things don't go the way you want. So thank you for sharing. It gave me a lot of relief to hear your experience since my OB was taking about inducing me when I want it to be all natural.

Becca, thank you so much for sharing this experience! I am pregnant with my first and having a similar experience. I am 35 weeks right now and my blood pressure has been consistently high, so I am on medication and being monitored closely for preeclampsia. We are planning for an induction at 38 weeks, which is something I never thought I would "choose" to do. Monitoring for symptoms and all the additional appointments has just taken me out emotionally. Hearing your story has been so encouraging! Knowing that other moms have been through this calms my nerves so much. I cannot thank you enough!

Thank you so much for being so honest and sharing your experience. I am 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby and this is what I needed to hear. That even though we have our own plans, things can turn out to be different but still be beautiful and positive. 🙏🏼

Loved hearing your story! I love how you have had both experiences with being induced and having natural contractions so you can compare them. Very interesting! More informative with you not having the epidural too because now we know how it truly felt. I believe it happened this way so you could share your experience and be an inspiration to others. Thanks for sharing!!

Back contractions are THE WORST. Accurate description 🤣 I had them with my first, then started having them with my second and I shoved my fist in my back and said “not today satan” and they stopped 🤣🤣🙏🏼🙏🏼

I truly appreciate your honesty about your feelings about your birth not being what you had planned. With my second, I was 2 days past due and went into my weekly appt and after being on the monitor was told baby wasn’t moving enough so I had to be induced. My birth with my first was a few days early and was exactly what I envisioned and planned for. The second time was not and it truly is hard to come to terms with. I too didn’t get to say goodbye to my first born bc I didn’t know I needed to and thought I would be right back after my appointment! Thanks for sharing your true and honest feelings and experience!

I was just thinking of you a day or two ago and thinking to myself “ I wonder when she will post a video again?” I knew you must have had your baby by now but I’m so glad you posted the birth story. My kids are now 15 and 12 but it feels like yesterday I went through all of that so it’s so interesting to hear other women’s stories. That is so crazy that she came out in one push!! So glad she’s here! Congratulations!!

Congratulations! Praise God you had a wise doctor who understood the urgency of your situation and you're both healthy. I have one child and was diagnosed with preeclampsia 7 months in when they found protein in my urine. Horrible chronic headaches, super high blood pressure (normally have very low blood pressure), and water retention that made my face and entire body very bloated. Barely slept during last five+ weeks of pregnancy.Constant monitoring in the hospital. Induced three weeks before due date because baby wasn't moving very much. My kidneys stopped functioning while in the hospital and labor took 2 1/2 days. Mag sulfate made me sick and one of the night nurses accidentally turned the contraction machine up fully, so I had unbearable back pain which lasted many hours. Doctor turned machine back down so process began again. Screamed and pleaded for c-section while writhing on the bed from back pain. Had tracks up and down both arms because of the constant blood withdrawals. My daughter and I were fortunate to have lived through the horrible ordeal. Many people with this disease don't get a happy ending. I must say the traumatic pregnancy and experience were all worth it because it made me all the more grateful for my daughter. You are very blessed to have had such a supportive husband by your side. My sister gave birth to her son a year before I did and she delivered her baby at home in water. I had planned for the same but once I was diagnosed with toxemia my midwife was replaced with doctors.Thank God for technology and the wonderful, funny doctor who delivered my daughter :)

Thank you for posting this because I really think it's a great educational opportunity for moms who may not have thought to do childbirth education/coping class because it shows how extremely valuable that is even if you are having interventions and that sometimes babies come faster than expected and you cant get that epidural. My own experience was that the pitocin with a really great epidural was waaaay worse than the water broken constantly grinding back labor I had for a solid day after my daughter fell OP stargazer during transition in the birth tub. She still takes her sweet time doing everything haha. Also that cervical checks are only a snapshot in time and not necessarily an accurate predictor... whereas your feelings and intensity of labor were accurate. Lots of good gems in there!! The trend of 2020/2021 seems to be very unique babies making that known in their births, it's pretty interesting. And transport is always a topic I think needs delved into because we wanted smooth transports with good experiences and outcomes. It's really encouraging to see things improving in that arena, my own experience was pretty great as well... we only had two problem people the whole time and honestly if I'd been less tired and thought of it I'd have requested a change. I dont know if you've delved into Indie Birth much, but Maryns last baby was a very surprising birth. I'll link the blog with photos, but she also did a couple podcasts both with her fellow midwife Margo and her ob friend Nathan. indiebirth.org/rumisol/ Will have to check out your podcast. Sounds like postpartum was quite a ride. Did your midwife check in during the whole hospital experience? I'm assuming they are still partner only at the hospital because of covid? Did you do the normal home visits postpartum with her in addition to what the hospital had you do? Just curious. :) I definitely now that I finally got my notes from the birth center have a lot of beef about my care in labor (if I wanted ice chips and forty million cervical checks I'd have started out in the hospital...)but the checking in with me at the hospital and the postpartum care was excellent. That was 2017 so way before covid restrictions obviously. Hospital never even scheduled a six week visit, nevermind how inadequate that one measly visit is. I mean obviously if anything were off like feeling a clot in my leg or having incision issues I'd have gone right in, but the just not caring once they got my baby out was a little.😳 I was pretty much totally ignored in my postpartum room too. Pretty much just checked on every shift change. If I was still in the area I would pick a different hospital as my backup choice for sure. Interviewing midwives early in my loss pregnancy last fall was very interesting and gave me a much clearer picture now that I know more and know what questions to ask. Okay stopping now because way too birth nerdy.😊

Your story with this baby is alot like my experience with my first. I ended up being induced but still wanted to go without an epidural. Finally decided to get the epidural and as I was sitting up to get it I felt an uncontrollable urge to push. I ended up getting the epidural but started pushing as soon as I layed back down and she was born minutes later. Looking back, had I known what I know now, I would have never gotten the epidural I would have told them to just let me push. With it being my first I just didn't understand that pushing sensation. I know things didn't go as planned but what a beautiful story you have!

THIS IS LITERALLY MY BIRTH ALL OVER AGAIN! Home birth planned. Went in a few days before 38 weeks to see my midwife, ended up having preeclampsia and was induced. I was so emotional! Thanks fully I was in the midwifery care of the hospital and was about to have midwives around me! As the folly bulb, shakes, and back labor.... the absolute worse thing I’ve ever felt. BACK LABOR! Like you said it felt like my bones were ripping apart!!! And pushed for 4 hours! Ended up getting an infection afterwards because my water naturally broke over 24 hours before my baby arrived! But I’m so glad to hear your experience! I literally know how you feel! All the way through!

I’m pregnant now and I’m due date is also March 6th with my second daughter! We planned a natural birth with my first daughter but her birth story is very similar to Hadley’s except I did get the epidural when I was about 8cm dilated. Now with baby #2, we’re going for a homebirth because my first one was SO hard and I’m praying for a completely different experience with this second baby. The “scary” parts you mentioned of the pain and agony you experienced with pitocin are SO real!

I've only had one birth experience but from comparison of everyone's stories, I am pretty certain that pitocin is what makes the pain intensity so much more severe. My water had broken at 6am and when I arrived at the hospital I was 5 cm dilated and 40 weeks exactly and was given pitocin (to this day, I still don't know why they did that and I didn't know I had the right to decline it). I was fully in control of myself until my son started crowning. I went from being checked in to delivering my son in less than an hour. The contraction that broke me was when I started crying and I don't cry, I literally had tears streaming down my face uncontrollably but I was sitting there silent as a stone trying to stomach the pain, I kept telling myself that women have been giving birth naturally since the dawn of time, but that was the point at which I said I needed the epidural. My son was born not five minutes later, in just three pushes. I don't regret the epidural but if I could do the whole thing over again, I wouldn't have delivered in a hospital and if I was forced to, I would've declined the pitocin. I realize your circumstance is a little different because of the medical necessity to induce. I'm glad everything went smoothly in spite of all the unexpected things and congratulations on the beautiful bundle of joy.

Congratulations! I’m so happy everything worked out for you and that you and baby were both healthy 🙏🏼 I just wanted to say I’m so jealous of your epidural experience lol I really wanted an unmedicated birth but like you, I was in agony. I was in so much pain and was projectile vomiting and I just couldn’t control it and couldn’t handle the pain anymore. I asked for the epidural when I was 8cm dilated. I secretly prayed I my baby would just come out by the time the anesthesiologist came but nope 😭 I got the epidural and baby came 2 hours later. I still beat myself up for getting it but in the moment I needed it and was very happy to no longer feel pain. Anyways, congrats! 🩷

This is nuts because my last 20 minutes of labor are the same! I gave birth March 24, I was induced at 39 weeks, pitocin, I went from a 4 to a 10 in 30 minutes, felt baby coming out during epidural placement and never got the drugs either! 😳 Whew. Crazy. Well congrats. Also Hadley was the girl name we picked out! But we had a boy.

I'm still watching, but wanted to comment, because it took me 4 births to realize that my body starts transition at 6cm. I always got so frustrated when I would feel those classic transition emotions and feelings and they would check me and I was "still a 6" or "only a 6" so for the first 2 births that's when I would get the epidural. I would then conclude that it was the epidural that sped up my labor and I would be pushing within the hour. Except that happened with the next 2 births as well and I didn't get the epidural and I ended up STILL pushing within the hour. By my 5th baby, I was able to confidently listen to "only a 6" as "Ok, I'm almost there," and I was. My body has it's own rhythm and it's not textbook, but it's amazing that by then I had learned to read my own signs and tune out the discouraging thoughts. Love your story, you did amazing and it's so hard when things don't go as planned but I'm so proud of you girl. You handled it, and I'm so thankful you and baby were healthy!!

Thank you! Thank you! For sharing this birth story!! On my third child I was finally going to have my natural birth at the birth center. I was on point with my nutrition, exercise and supplements and bam 2 weeks before my due date, high blood pressure( again)But why?? I was doing everything right, even my daily meditation!! So to the hospital I went to be induced with Pitocin, it was intense and they accidentally turned it up and I was contracting 2 min apart but it wasn’t doing anything for my body!! I was so exhausted I caved and got the epidural! It still was a beautiful birth, but nothing like I planned. It shows you never really know how it is going to go. This birth story helped me so much ❤️ Now I am pregnant with my fourth, we will see if I finally get my natural birth 🤞But I’m definitely keeping an open mind.

My first baby I was induced and they broke my water around 4cm, second baby I went into labour naturally and my water EXPLODED across the room when I had to push. I told the nurse I felt like I had to push, she checked me and said ‘oh the doctors on her way, you can go ahead if you feel like you need to push’. First push, soaked the room 😂 if that nurse had been moving any slower, she would have gotten an unwanted shower 😂😂😂

For those who had preclampsia did it manifest like between 36-39 weeks? I have low placenta growth factor which apparently is higher risk of preclampsia so far I’m doing good no eye or headache symptoms but they want to see baby weekly to see if she is growing she’s in 11 percentile at 25 weeks

omg remember how i commented in your homebirth supply vid that i too was having a homebirth with my 2nd due anyday from you, and how i had a wonderful empowering hypno/waterbirth with my first? lol i gave birth 3wks ago, at home. very different with my first as well- that was 3 days long but never once were contractions painful. this time it was 4hrs start to finish BUT it was FULL blown back labour (she wasnt posterior either) no contractions in my abdomen but OMG! zero breaks in between and back contractions i couldnt do anythinggg that i loved with my first (like labouring on the toilet)- i HAD to be on all 4s, it was actually difficult! so glad it was only 4hrs though >

Thanks for sharing your birth story! I was wondering if you could talk about why you think you got preeclampsia? I know your a dietitian and so therefore you have a healthy lifestyle. I went to school for nutrition as well and almost have a one year old. Just curious as to why you think you got preeclampsia and DVT? Thanks again for sharing your story and being so open!

Pitocin contractions are an actual nightmare that I hope I never have to experience again with another birth. I also was induced around 37 weeks for gestational hypertension.

Same thing happened to me with induction with my 2nd. I went from 5 cm to 10 cm in 1 contraction. Im not a vocal person and I was screaming. Then she was born immediately, en caul. Shock.

Congrats on your baby! It's emotional when your plans change. I went from planning on a birth center, to hospital birth, to possible c section due to placenta previa, to needing an induction due to cholestasis. I bawled when finding out I needed an induction! It went well overall, though, and baby girl was born March 11 this year - 3 weeks early, too. I did end up getting the epidural, but I started having pain several hours later.... the doctor came in to check my cervix, and was surprised to find my baby crowning! A few pushes later, and she was born.

Thank you so much for this! It sounds very similar to my birth story. Just so everyone is aware, you can say you don’t want to be checked at any time! It’s not necessary. Also if you want an unmediated birth I recommend not being checked because it’s so discouraging. I was at 3cm and it became so painful w pitocin I knew I couldn’t do that until 10 so I wanted to be checked again and get an epidural, but it turned out I was at 10 alrdy! Pitocin is no joke 😂

It def sounds like you had back labor, I had that with my first it is so painful. I even had an epidural and it didn’t help the back pain only the uterus contractions.

Looking back do you think you actually were in transition when you thought despite being told you weren’t? Also really nice to see a story that’s some intervention like induction and pitocin but that’s all like it’s not a total cascade.

UGH Magnesium sulfate is the WORST! I had to have it with my first for preterm labor at 33 weeks and I got toxicity from it and had pulmonary edema, so I felt like I couldn't breathe.

I had a very similar birth story, I had pre-eclamsia and was monitored (woken every 4 hours for blood pressure) for 6 days before baby came. I was exhausted. Had the balloon at 3pm removed 24 hours later, I was 2 cm they broke my water at 8pm started pitocin at 9:30pm and fully dialated by 2:30am. I wanted no pain relief and water birth, as soon as these contractions started I laughed and said to my husband I'm getting an epidural. Ended up only having diomorphine and gas and air for the delivery. I really hope my next birth I get to be at home naturally to see if I can do it, because those contraction felt unbelievable.

I had such a similar birth experience. I had to get induced, ended thinking i wanted an epidural because the contractions were so close together. As I’m hunched over i started screaming and saying the baby is coming now. I’ve had to babies and have pushed less then 5 minutes for the two of them haha.

I had a similar experience, however my baby ended up being breech too. So that meant a c section. I did not mentally prepare of any of that to happen. I broke down crying everytime any nurse came into the room. This time around I am trying to mentally prepare of various scenerios. Because in my mind I was having a natural home birth and there was no other scenario possible 😅

You probably dilated the rest of the way bc you were sitting up on the side of the bed. The same thing happened with my daughter. I wasn't in any pain at all during my contractions but I did get very dizzy and nauseous with each contraction so i asked for an epidural at 8cm and i went from 8 to 10 in 1 contraction while the anesthesiologist was setting up his stuff to do the epidural. My husbands mom missed the birth bc she left while i was getting the epidural but turns out i didn't need the epi i just needed to sit up and get gravity in the mix lol. Also I have had 6 hospital births firat 2 with epidurals and last 4 drug free. I am currently almost 9 weeks preg with #7 and I just found a midwife for a homebirth this time. I'm so excited. I've always thought about a homebirth.
