Growing up as a first generation Nigerian American, I unfortunately didn’t learn very well my parent’s native language, Edo (also known as Bini language). But i want to change that, and here is my plan to do so 🤭🇳🇬.

Hi . Just came across ur vidoes . Am Edo bini . And I recently started speaking bini fluently . This is what help me to learn . I give my self 5 years target to learn how to speak it since I understood the language but couldn’t speak it then . My parents speak it fluently At home I created a bini lessons for myself for 1 to 2 hours a day. Here I learn the body parts in Bini language and watch a 30 minutes vidoes of benin movie . Here I repeat words spoken in the movie bit by bit . When I get tired I stop . When am going out to job or on the train I play a single benin music on repeat for times that I do a month . To allow my brain to familiarise with the Song . And I end up singing the song back to front knowing all the words . And I speak to myself in benin language when am inside the room . It paid off . Now I can converse in benin. Give ur self long target so it won’t be stressed to you . And tell ur parent to speak to you in benin and repeat those words in English . That too will help . U will speak it . But give a long target and learn the language with ease not stressful. I did that for 5 years . With out stress .

Wow… thank you so much for this comment. It’s one thing to strive for something but hearing from someone who actually learned Bini is very encouraging. I will definitely try to implement some of this and will be modifying my timeline as well. Be blessed!

The language is called edo language, the word bini language is incorrect, when speaking the language we refer to ourselves as oviédo but never oviebini matter of fact, there's no such word as bini in our language!!!

What u said is wrong I stand to correct u as I am a bini person . Edo is a state that have different tribes in it . There is esan language . Esako language. Ora. . Akoko Edo . Afiama and two other tribes . Ovebedo need to be corrected . Our language is Bini language not Edo . I can correct the elders in that aspect

@@tempusfugit1523 then u don’t know Edo . And I will tell u that the Esako and esan don’t like bini people because bini like u think the Edo state belong only to bini people . Go and do ur research ask ur parents . Am bini born and bred in bini and speak bini fluently . That is y esan and Esako don’t like bini people cos of people like u that refused to learn

@@lucyefomovlogs6383the person is actually right as there was a recent press release by the palace stating that the Edos should not be referred to as binis as it’s not a recognized term
