I so appreciate this video. I have looked at many videos regarding caring for the Vachetta on the monogram bags. Thanks to this video I decided to use the method you described. Thanks for the tip. I have the exact same bag and has now had it for over 3yrs but only worn it out for maybe 8 outings because I'm so afraid of watermarks but it has patina very nicely. I am going to try using your water method than using in scented baby wipes that are chemical free. I do not treat my bags either. Thanks again

Helen Tang I started cleaning my bags about 3 months in and I clean them now about every three to six months depending on how often I use them. And I polish them with another dry sock. Thank you for for your nice comments. Congratulations on your new bag😍

How old is your bag and how many times you have done this ? Did you start it doing doing it because it was dirty or just to keep it clean all the time ? My azur speedy 35 it's 3 years old but the vachetta is still looking new because I don't wear the bag that much since I always grab other bags but my sister once use it and left the handles looking kinda grayish and I don't know what to do now cause if I wet then they will turn honey and they still kinda white I'm afraid to ruin the vachetta since it's almost looking new with grayish in the handles people doesn't notice but I do and it bothers me

Hello . my bag is a little over 5 years old :) I've did this every 2 to 3 months since the bag was brand new . I don't baby my bags and yes if you wet it it will turn a tiny bit of honey color but you will be surprised on how clean it will look. It wont hurt the bag but it will make it look even a pretty . Make sure you watch all the videos on how I clean the lv bags :) Thank you for your questions. let me know if you have ay more concerns . I am always here for you :)

Helen Tang hello Helen. I'm using a sock form my sock drawer lol. I like the sock cause it's thicker than a t-shirt. It feels more cushiony to me . it's just personal preference you can use anything white. 😍😍😍😍😍 Have an Awesome day 😁

Hi Victoria! I just purchased a speedy 30 (preloved) what do suggest to to brass it's pretty dingy and has green on the rivets? What do you think about using the saddle soap? I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!!

Hi .I would use brass cleaner but don't touch Leather. I don't use saddle soap. Drys out bag. Also lemon juice will work on the brass but same thing don't to leather .use a qtip then wipe off any remaining lemon 🍋 with damp cloth 🥰congratulations on your new bag 🥰

When you put your bag next to a window in direct sun to tan, is there any worry about the canvas fading?

Deborah K I wear my bags all summer and the canvas looks the same. :) its coated cavas so im sure that helps. Also when i left it in the window it was only for a few hrs a few days :)

Brianna Bender hi sorry it took me a couple days to get back to you. When I bought my bag I just tanned it in the window a couple hours a day for about 2 weeks. I turned it frequently. Then I did the patina champ method on it about every 3 months until it started getting a beautiful golden patina. Now I just do the patina champ method on it every six months or pretty much as often as it's needed. Hope this helps you thanks so much😍 I also store my bags in my closet on the bottom 😍

Ellen P i just put it next to a window with direct sunlight and I turn the bag around every half hour. I just left my bag there for a couple days like that.😍😍😍😍

Hi, thanks so much for this video, I just got my first LV a few days ago and the method you use is what I feel most comfortable with in terms of maintaining and caring for my bag..I know you mentioned you tan the leather before you clean it, how long as in how many hours at a time and for how many days should a tan it before doing this?

gigiCHIC i would tan it 1 hr a day for at least 2 weeks. The more you tan it the darker it will get so keep that in mind :) to get my look 1 hr is perfect for 2 weeks then just regular wear. 😍hope this helps u . ♡ Victoria

I just bought a used bag. The vachetta looks nice and still on the lighter side. I’m not sure if the previous owner used any product on the vachetta. Would this method be safe regardless of what might have been previously used?

Its the tanning that makes the leather not so new (on the brand new light vachetta leather it is near impossible to blend in the water spots ) its the cleaning with the wet sock that blends any waterspots in. at least this has been my experience. so water would spot my leather if i hadnt tanned and cleaned my bag. i hope this make sense. ive just had such great experience with my cleaning method over the last 6 years that its the only thing i trust . i will be doing a video on both bags really soon as i havent cleaned them since the last videos. it will show the wear and dirt that is on them .then it will show the cleaning and after they are dry . :) let me know if u have any more questions:) Thank you for subscribing 😄

It was a very soft cloth. Lol I was rubbing hard because there was some sort of spillage in the area. It may also be that the bag is cleaner in that area than the rest as I scrubbed more , and maybe I just need to correct the entire bag. I ask because I want to know if I'm doing damage before I do the entire thing!.. Thanks alot again

Don Malo i dont think you can scrub too hard. It might make that area lighter but the the patina will slowly even out again :) I will be doing a pretty informative video on your question soon:) 😁

I do & it stops the rain penetrating the leather. I also use this water & sock method to clean. On my vintage bags I use Cadillac shoe & boot conditioner and it hydrates the LV leather with no darkening. Stops the vachetta cracking on vintage bags.

Catherine J. Are you talking about me? Lol! Actually, I agree with this person. No lotions should be put on the leather. As you know, Vachetta leather is untreated leather. So anything applied to it, is just absorbed. Some chemicals do more damage then help. Thank you Catherine for the shout out! Nice that you remember me. Thank you!♡♡♡ P.S. Although, I remember the nasty things you wrote to me. Don't act all angelic now!

So what about watermarks the whole thing confuses me would you explain that please the whole vatchetta thing

Nate Moffett doing this will even out the water spots :) The vachetta is the untreated leather that Louis Vuitton uses and it naturally gets darker over time . if you wipe it with water it'll even out any spots and remove any dirt making the leather more even. hope that helps.
