ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
This pandemic has greatly impacted our lives including the ability for us to sing together. Since the re-opening of churches last 2020, uhaY and Santo Niño de Molino Parish Choir has been joining and helping each other in serving the Eucharistic Celebrations in our parish.
This song collaboration reminds us that amidst the uncertainty, we stand together. We all have One God and one desire - to reach as many souls as possible through the musical talent that He has given to us.
This video was taken during the annual recollection last August 27 and 28, 2022 at La Valleta House of Prayer in Tagaytay City.
ABOUT THE SONG:
"My Only Desire" was composed by David Robert Haas, an American author and composer of contemporary Catholic liturgical music. This piece is dedicated to the Hangad Music Ministry in Manila, which he came t know during a visit to the Philippines in the fall of 2016.
The word hangad means “desire.” and he was personally moved by this image, exemplified in the ministry of leading sung prayer, as witnessed through Hangad and many other ensembles in the Philippines.
“My Only Desire” is a song-prayer of faith, filled with the vulnerability and surrender needed, ultimately, for living a holy life in witness to discipleship.
ABOUT THE CHOIRS:
Santo Niño de Molino Parish Choir is a pioneer Catholic choir that has been serving in Santo Niño de Molino Parish Church in Bacoor, Cavite since 1988. With its 34 years of existence, the passion never fades and continues to serve the community through music.
uhaY | umaawit habambuhay alay kay Yahweh is also a resident choir in the said parish and was established in 1999. uhaY is a Filipino term which means golden grains. Small letter on the name denotes humility while the whole name is translated as "I will sing forever as long as I have being for Yahweh or God".
ABOUT THE CHOIRMASTER:
Cristopher Aspa has been the choirmaster of uhaY since 2000 and recently joined the SNDM Parish Choir as the musical trainer. He is an alumni member of the De La Salle University - Dasmariñas Chorale.
