Christian's collection is elusive, only a select few know the full extent of it...maybe he'll do a full on video about it soon? In the meantime though let's give a warm welcome to one of the soon to be newest members, the Breguet Tradition 7097! An incredible watch made by an incredible brand with a ton of history behind it. Breguet somehow manages to keep their original brand identity more than one hundred years later with an extremely modern watch, an incredible feat that only a brand like Breguet can achieve!
Christian talks about why he chose this particular watch, and then goes on to talk about what he looks for when he is adding a piece to the "Permanent Collection". In doing so he goes over some watch buying mistakes people may make and explains what finally drew him to this watch!

Christian's next watch is the Breguet Tradition 7097, a beautiful haute horology piece with a ton of character and an avante-garde elegance that's impossible to compare.
At 40mm in diameter, and being white gold in construction, it's a hefty timepiece, but it isn't quite as bulky as you might expect. This is in large part due to the massive domed sapphire crystal, which contributes some to the still modest 12mm height of the piece. It's powered by the automatic Caliber 505 SR1, an in-house Breguet movement featuring a number of the brand's own pioneering technologies, including automatic winding and the Pare-chute shock absorption system.
So what is it about this watch that draws Christian in? Well, for starters, its the brand's history. Breguet is not one of the first brands one thinks of when considering true luxury watchmaking, but they're singlehandedly responsible for everything from automatic winding to the tourbillon. Their history in this industry is, frankly, unmatched. Then there's the design. It's classy and classic, all without losing that edge of being something really special with both the retrograde seconds function and the partly skeletonized movement. All total, the 7097 is one hell of a watch, with a design and appeal unlike any other.

Finally a piece on a brand that should be getting far more credit and time that it currently does . I’d have a Breguet over a Rolex any day

I don’t know.. I think they get what they deserve. Yes, they make some technically impressive watches, but their designs are mostly stale, outdated or just plain unpopular. Most watch enthusiasts don’t want Roman numerals, they just don’t.

If you can risk losing a fortune, sure. Rolex makes robust watches for everyday wear and the majority of their catalogue maintain or increase in value. This piece retails for $33 500 US and can be purchased secondhand for $24k US.

@@SC-km5vc what is the fascination with retaining value on a watch - if people applied this same thinking to other items ( Apple Watch or phone , laptop , tv , appliances or even most new cars on sale today ) - you’d never buy it . Most Rolex fan clubs are like “ hun my watch has gained afew grand - why did you buy something you actually liked over something that makes £ retention sense ? but my car on the other hand is on a lease deal so Iv written off 15k over 3 years “ - I only buy the items I like for me , based on my likes / dislikes and to keep . Then retaining value isn’t in the equation. But other people are more than welcome to their own opinions and decisions I’m not making that . Breguet for me as a brand , the guy himself and his son are what intrigues me about the watches and that technical aspect of it for me out weighs a good but more subdued Rolex

@@markdance574 because one of the main appeals of watches for many people are that they aren’t disposable like those other things you mentioned (Apple products). I’m ok with spending 5k on a watch because it will either last my entire life or I can sell it and make most of my money back.
The dial layout is not just a skeleton watch. It is a reference to the movements in the 'montre à tact' watches at around 1800. If you open up those old pocket watches, the movement inside had the exact same shape and dial as this watch. The 'montre à tact' was a special pocket watch that could let you know the time in the dark (without lighting a candle to see) by turning an arrow on the outside. Breguet's history is just magic! He was more than a watchmaker. He was more like a Leonardo Da Vinci of his times, with countless inventions.
What a beautiful video, despite the minor technical imprecisions I could really feel your passion towards that piece! And it’s awesome to see the watch community grow from the usual mainstream watches to more unique and interesting pieces! Well done
Love Breguet Traditions, they are all very beautiful. I remember the first time I read about 7077’s independent chronograph train, it’s so fascinating. 7097 is a great piece also. Congrats!
It's so refreshing to hear you speak about the history and passion instead of the hype. This is the only reason to collect anything, and why I collect 18th century French decorative art and Russian enamel. Great channel.
I've owned a couple of Breguet's with sub dials. I found them easy to read and very elegant. The deal killer for me and the reason I sold them was the lugs. They stick straight out and I couldn't get a good fit with them on my wrist. If they had curved down much more dramatically I'd still own them. The technology, the design, the finishing are all exemplary.

I absolutely love the Traditions but those lugs kill me - everything is so elegant and perfect apart from them. I just can't see that fitting on my wrist nicely.
Breguet is one of my favorites. It’s good to see our watch journeys cross paths, because I’m all about breguet right now.
Now that is a Breguet that I can get behind. Great video and buy! I get what you are saying about holding a certain watch model so congrats!
What a watch... See, being here in Paris, you made me want to have a look at it at the Vendome store... Cheers and again thanks for sharing mate.
Christian leads with a technical detail. BRAVO! Your discussions have become more and more informed and technically driven. Kudos. Oh, and your taste with the piece is impeccable. This is not simply a skeletonized anything. There is one heaping load of legit on this piece.
Recently got into collecting watches. This channel has definitely helped educate me on how to appreciate fine craftsmanship. I will def be adding this watch to my collection
I firmly believe that Breguet has achieved something quite rare - staying close to its roots, while also innovating and pushing the boundaries of watchmaking (e.g., ranging from utilizing unconventional materials like anthracite-finishing to adopting rare design elements like the retrograde seconds hand). They also execute it in arguably the most classical, sophisticated and timeless manner. The feeling when someone asks: "Is that a Breguet?" is exhilerating b/c you know that they are definitely in the know. One last characteristic about Breguet that I absolutely love is that its impossible speak about the history of horology without mentioning the brand (a quick nod to Abraham Louis Breguet's crowning invention - the tourbillon). In short - congrats Christian, its well-deserved and I hope it stays a part of your permanent watch collection.
Very nice choice. It’s fun seeing your taste and preference in watches naturally gravitate to more sophisticated and intriguing pieces. This does not mean you’re becoming a snub as you can still appreciate the “everyday” popular choice, it just means as you become more aware of watch history and its evolution, your perspective becomes wider. I’ve been a Breguet fan fo ever, and perhaps even an advocate, and it’s encouraging to see the younger generation of horology aficionados are starting to embrace and get excited for the brand. Congratulations and wear it in good health. Cheers!
This is an absolute masterpiece, well done! :)

Beautiful piece, congratulations Christian!
Congrats on the new watch! Truly stunning!
This watch is magnificent. FINALLY at the 6 min mark we could see the seconds hand reset. LOL! Enjoy.
Huge congratulations on the Breguet. Amazing piece!
Congratulation on your purchase, beautiful watch from an underrated/undervalued company. Bold and excellent choice (And finally something different than the standard steel sportswatch that keeps its value)
So beautiful. As others have said, open dials are not usually my thing but this is different. The watch feels timeless and the symmetry is gorgeous. Plus I'd never tire of looking at that rotor.
Best video in quite some time. Love the enthusiasm and love the watch.
Glad you picked up the automatic version, which I believe is less common, and one of the coolest rotors out there. I agree with most of what you said, although there are other Breguet's that I like more in that price range, but wow is that a cool piece. I would have trouble paying attention in a meeting wearing that, too much to look at and take in. I had a Breguet Type XX Transatlantique and, beyond the the fact that it was a fantastic watch, I kind of liked the fact that it was a "Breguet". Wear that in good health!
I have the absolute privilege to work with Breguet few years back and my god I miss their watches. This 7097bb is definitely a great watch to own. Kudos to Christian!
Congratulations. That's a beautiful timepiece.
Your horological trajectory is so similar to mine. It certainly is wonderful that Daniel Roth valued the old world Breguet style that made the company what it is today!
Great video Christian! More reserved and very professional, but without sacrificing your personality. A perfect choice for your style.
Belated congratulations!! This is my absolute grail piece, one day…imo so much classier, artful and historically loaded than any skeleton watch. Breguet is the best!
Beautiful. Love the XXI 250 limited edition in green. No other sportswatch can challenge its beauty. A modern classic.
I have been critical of his videos in the past. This video, however, is different. WELL DONE!
Truly beautiful time piece - congratulations!!!!
Quite a departure from your usual piece Christian. Open worked and technology driven not your usual style but still beautiful piece and congrats to you!
This particular model is actually quite a decent value on the pre-loved market. Even including B&P I have seen them under $17K. That's below grey market Rolex GMT or Sub or even OP money anymore and you get a much more interesting watch! Great buy!
Nice! Loads of horology history in that watch. If I get some more money I'm planning to buy a Breguet.
Great watch. Perfect blend of old world and high tech. Very unique. A founder’s watch.
Thanks for the video, been looking at Breguet and Blancpain on top of my JLC, brands that are only appreciated by those who enjoy the finer details of movement designs and genuine complications as opposed to marketing.
Congratulations Christian!!!
Breguet becomes a love affair. Every time I wear either my yellow gold Heritage 5460BA or my rose gold Classique 5177BR, I find myself always appreciating the beauty and horological significance of the heritage of the Brand. Unlike when I wear one of my Rolex, no one really has no idea what I am wearing and I enjoy the anonymity. Breguet is the best value of the high-end watch grouping and this 7097BB is stunning!
Perfect choice for a modern vintage guy like you!
Well done and congrats sir!
Congratulations Christian!
I love my Breguet Marine - ok so it's not at the level of this watch (which I covert) but the devil is in the detail. Get into the guilloche on the dial, the cold rolled coin edge to the case & the finishing on the movement. Just lovely! The Breguet you featured is the one I'd go for though I'd prefer it in rose gold.

I'm eyeing the Tissot 1948 for the same reasons as to why Christian wants to buy the Breguet. Thanks for helping me out!
Beautiful peace I normally don’t like open work or skeleton watches but you are right this is done perfectly love the dark Anthracite
It’s not a skeletonized watch. It’s actually almost a full copy of an old Brequet pocket watch from 1800’s whenit comes to it’s layout. The pocket watch had a closed case and only the small dial was visible through a glass in the case.
Great choice. I have a Classique 5207BA. It also has the retrograde seconds. Love it.
I absolutely love this piece and it’s been on my short list for some time. Trouble is that although I don’t buy watches as an investment I also don’t buy watches to immediately loose money on new buys. Unfortunately this watch is almost $35,000 new and on the secondary market as low as $19,000.
I thought I was the only one with my eyes on this one!
This is open-dial rather than skeleton design; I believe the movement is just anthracite-plated, not made by anthracite.
@sullivanbacerdo3244

the bridges are brass. and the coating isnt even anthracite (if he thought about it at all, hed realize that would mean the bridges were made from COAL), anthracite is just describing the color. its probably something similar to rhodium coating, chemically

That retrograde seconds hand makes this watch perfect.
This was very good!!
I had a chance to handle a few Breguets is person two weeks ago and they are spectacular, for me I often wear formal entire for my job and I have to say I can see myself adding a Breguet to the collection one day.
You absolutely nailed it - the human genius of the watch.
If I could only buy one watch, any watch, it would be a Breguet Tradition!!!
Insane watch🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great watch and entirely different from anything you have in your current collection which is interesting
Thank you for talking about Breguet . I'm tired of Rolex. Thank you I really appreciate your content , enthusiasm and knowledge. 🤍 from London. J.
Lovely beautiful watch. Congrats and enjoy
I absolutely love this watch. Flawless choice.
Great explanation!
Great video and great story
I have the retrograde date version of this watch. I didn't know that the movement is made of anthracite. Very good and happy to know that(Thank you). These watches really are special and, in my opinion, important. With all of the hype around independents, currently, what many don't talk about is the unreliability, long repairs, and the uncertainty that there will be someone to repair the watch in future. With that being said , this watch feels as special as an independent, but has technology(silicon, parachute shock, free sprung and more) , rock solid quality, fantastic customer service and history. If people were smart enough to replace their lux sports watches with casioaks and buy what is real honest watchmaking, I wouldn't have gotten my new Breguet Tradition bi-retrograde date 30 percent off. Cheers and I hope you enjoy it!
Congrats Christian. Beautiful peiece.
Beautiful piece. Congratulations! I’m looking at this reference but in rose gold. Is there any concern of more frequent servicing due to the retrograde seconds? I’m also considering the retrograde date reference.
gorgeous! congrats.
Like a boss. Great choice and very unique.
I’ve wanted this watch for the longest time Great historic timepiece.
I have the 7037, absolutely magnificent watch.
This is one of my attainable grail watches. Particularly the retrograde version. One of the most beautiful watches in existence, and at an attainable (if a stretch) price. I want one earnestly, lol.
I am not a skeleton watch fan, but this has got be the nicest implementation of that style I've ever seen. Gave me subtle Lange vibes. I approve! LOL
Beautiful watch no doubt and I do love their chronographs as well.
Beautiful watch!
Pretty much like your channel and thank you for sharing such great informations! I would like to know if compared to 7067BB (GMT version), which one would you recommend?

Absolutely stunning watch.
Owned (and regrettably sold my Breguet big date) and have deferred purchasing the Daytona to purchase this watch. The fact there are hardly any available used shows the type of person that purchases these (I.e not the flipper!)
I love Breguet!
Stunning piece. Just wish that the seconds feature were presented separately from the main dial. Some people might think Breguet was bold to design it this way, but I find the feature distracting. As pedestrian as it sounds, I prefer perfect legibility. Had the seconds arc, say, been directly below the 6 o'clock position, that would have looked better. But perhaps a seconds hand on the main dial would have been best: that way the 2 wheels directly below the dial would have remained fully exposed.
AmaZing !!
7:47 I can not stress this enough. You completely described how I was thinking and am thinking now. Good thing I am not alone. This was the main reason, I pulled the trigger on visiting Dornblüth und Sohn and ordering one afterwards.

The 2010.1 is also the small-seconds one, but as i said with the inhouse movement. I happen to live in Germany and it was a 3 hour ride for me. Damn Christian that's a great watch! Finally a nice addition apart from the typical 32mm Tiger Eye Dial Piaget women's watches 😜 ... I'm surprised you didn't talk more about the automatic movement.
